Boy, did I ever do a dumb thing today. I tried to find some simple easy hairdos for thick hair on the net. Well, lo and behold, there are porno sites referring to thick hair! I was BLOWN away. I immediately if not sooner got off there. The thing of it is I am using the churche's computer. I typed in messy updos for long thick hair. Got all kinds of porno related sites. Yucky!! Needless to say I came right back here where I knew I was safe.
Thanks for being a safe place to hang out. Debr |

Whoa! There's a shocker. Good luck in your search for a legit site.

ooops! You do have to be careful with some searches. There are lots of hair fetish sites out there that you probably want to avoid! ;D

I would say that is not dumb or stupid.
People do not realize there are millions of porn sites on the internet and it is very easy to get to them and as you found out it is easy to accidently click on them as well. What get's me are these people with young children and the kids stumble onto a porn site and the parent pretty much blames everybody but themselves because they were not wise enough to put a filter program on their computer which would have prevented the kids from going where they should not be on the internet :o But, like most people we all find out about things the hard way sometimes ::) Jerry |

It's not dumb, just shocking. Sometimes it's hard to know what words will trigger those sites. When I used to work, a few of us animal lovers in my office would search the local animal shelter. Well, we learned to be careful to put in .org instead of .com after the shelter name, or else a porn site would appear. :-[

A similar situation occurs with the White House. Make sure you put the .gov on the end or else you end up at a porn site. Many a kid researching the white house for a school project has found themselves on a bad site.

That's a shame. You know that the person(s) who created that site would know better. I guess they don't care though. They'll try to get traffic to their site anyway they can and don't care that kids may stumble upon them.

Yep - it was done intentionally. The government has tried to shut them down, but the site is legal so nothing can be done. It would be nice if they at least had a "clean" front page with a re-direct URL so kids can get to the correct site without being subjected to the crap that is on the site. |

debr-i've had the same thing happen to me. last summer i tried once to look up pictures of really long hair, to put in a file for inspiration when i was tempted to get it cut. i just entered something like "long hair" and all kinds of crazy images and sites popped up, even with google's moderate safe search setting. it turns out there are a lot of weird hair festishes out there, so i need to be careful when i do web searches on hair related topics. now i pretty much just stick to this site :)

As an FYI - if anyone posts a link in their topic - I do check it for appropriateness and remove it if not in line with this site's general flavor. Fortunately I've not had to do this very often in the past few years. (Earlier was a WHOLE 'nother story!! :P )

Don't worry - it really wasn't, but we had spammers that would hit us from time to time. They would post the same message in every forum that would link to porn sites. In a matter of minutes they would have a hundred posts that we would have to quickly clean up. The regulars have always been sweet and very respectful. |

Sometimes you can do a completely unrelated search and still get porn. I was trying to look up the value of some guns I got from my father's house. "Winchester Rifle" got interesting results. Slang I'm not familiar with?
The google result looked completely legit. I even clicked it more than once, thinking I surely had gotten it wrong. My husband (this was before he moved out) said not. He said sometimes those people take over legit site names, or make links the site isn't aware of. |
