Title: Short-Long by livingandlovingx3
Post by livingandlovingx3 on Jul 2nd, 2008 at 10:53pm
I really, really want to reach my goal this time around. I am a little confused as to what to do about trimming my hair though. Some people say to trim it and other say not to until I am at my goal. What about if I start seeing damage? Nayway my hair is super short and driving me nuts, i think because it is shorter in the back than front, but I know that if I were to cut it, I would regret it later. I'll just have to ride out that awkward stage. Right now I am using Pantene daily moisture in the shampoo and conditioner about every other day. Once a week I use the fortifying conditioner and I also use the leave in spray that is supposed to protect against damage.

I suggest trimming the damage off every 8 weeks or so and then you can have healthy long hair.  I could not let it grow to my goal and then have many inches cut of damage.  Personally I'd rather have it a bit shorter and get it healthy than get the length only to lose it.

Do whatever you think you can handle!

What is your goal, btw?

I wanna go to mid back to start. Once I get there and see what caring for it is like I might go longer. ;) We'll see if I even get mid back first!! ;D I know it's gonna take forever, :-/ but hopefully I can stop using my straightening iron and minimize the damage even more. 8-)

Hi there!

I was also addicted to my flat iron until a couple of months ago!  The only time I didn't iron my hair was when I would load it up with anti-frizz serum, mousse, spray gel and hair spray so that my "natural" curl would show up!   ;)

It's not easy, but you can do it!  I started teaching myself how to braid so that on the days I couldn't STAND my hair not being straight - I could braid it!

I also use Restoratives Daily Moisture and I love it!  I use the fortifier on my hair before I braid it at night, and after just a couple days I could see and feel the difference.

Accepting your natural texture is the healthiest thing you can do. Fighting it is a losing battle.

My sister uses flat irons too and omg, her poor hair has sooo much damage.  :(  Nature gave her some great, sexy natural waves and tons of body, but she kills it. Ugh...we can practically hear her hair screaming as she pulls a flat iron through it.  :o

As a natural straightie, I can promise you that stick straight hair is overrated. Embrace the wave.  ;)

Thanks! I would braid my hair except it is super short! :'( I did leave it curly today though and it doesn't look bad, but I had to pull my sides back so I wouldn't look wierd.  :o Most of the areas that were straightened I had cut off, but there are still a few areas where the hair is longer on the top and isn't as curly. :-/ I did go buy the curly girl handbook, and there is definatley some interesting things in there. I'm gonna try some of the recipies in the back. I am curious as to what type of curl I have.
Excuse the no make up, but it was too hot and it would have liquified in a matter of seconds after application.

You can def tell what parts are still around from my straight perm, but they aren't super straight so I think it's ok to wear my hair curly.

It's totally ok to wear your hair curly!  :D  That seems to be what it wants to do naturally anyway.

What great shape & color your curls have too! Very nice. And don't worry about the top/straightened parts - they will grow out eventually. But it seems like you're on the right track and there are plenty of other curly girls around here to help you along the way.  ;)

Oh yeah, and I don't blame you for not wearing makeup in the heat. Bleh! Sometimes, it's just a wasted effort.

Thank You! :)
I always feel like my curls are messy, and I am constantly putting my hands in my hair to see if I can feel if it is frizzy  :P. I usually frizz it by putting my hands in it, so I definatley have many habits to break. My husband told me last night that he didn't like it curly  :-/. I told him it will look much better when it has grown out, but there is no way I am going to get it to grow by straightening it everyday until it is grown out ::). He doesn't understand  :'(. I am kinda on my own, because my mom has stick straight hair, and as far as I know there are no stylists that really know about curly hair in my immediate area. When I try to tell my husband about what I've learned or plan on doing he isn't interested  :-X. So it is nice to have a group of ladies to talk to that are or were in my position :).

Your curls are awesome!

My hair was once done at a hair show.  She cut 11" off and I ended up looking like Trinity from the Matrix!  It was an awesome look, but talk about maintenance!  My hair isn't as curly as yours is, but it's wavy.  It was ironed EVERY day.  The cut and the entire look was pretty intense, so the maintenance was not optional.

I kept that look for a while, but then when I wanted to let it grow, it was a nightmare.  I let it grow out to a short bob, and then kept it at that length while most of the worst damage grew off.  Then I let it get longer.  I kept the layers cut in just "cuz".  :D

I also understand when people around you do not support your hair choices.  My family is constantly asking me when I'm going to cut my hair and donate it again.  I've found the safest answer is "I don't know.  It's not long enough yet."   ;)  I hope hubby at least doesn't say things to hurt your feelings.  I used to tell people "If you want my hair kept short like that - YOU pay for the colors and cuts, and come over and DO it everymorning for me, and I"ll consider it!"  That usually shut them up. 8-)

You'll reach your goal - no worries.  The cool thing about having hair short is that you can SEE how fast it is growing!
:)

;D That's awesome. I so have to use that one day.

And I couldn't possibly be married to someone who wanted my hair (or any other part of me, for that matter) to be different than it is. The heck with that! I'm sure there are quite a few men out there who will like your curls, so once you start attracting their attention, your husband might change his mind.  ;)

I had all the straight pieces cut today. I really thought about it and decides that I would be more likely to straight iron my hair if I left it the way it was. Boy, I forgot how much my hair likes to curl!! :o It looks REALLy short  :-/ , but I know that it will grow and hopefully even faster now that I am not using all that heat!
I ordered soem Mop Top conditioner, and some curley hair solutions curl keeper and gel. They follow the guidlines for ingrediants listed in the Curley Girl Handbook. We'll see how those products work. While I was at the salon I was lloking at different ingrediants and couldn't believe that everything there contained cones, alcohol, etc... I am gonna wait until my new product arrives and do a ACV rinse, then use them. Hopefully my hair will be rid of all that gunk and I can start new with the right products.

Yay!! I haven't straightened in 3 or four days! I also haven't used shampoo in that many either, and I must say that my hair and scalp don't feel greasy like I thought it would. I am waiting for some product to arrive that I ordered off the internet.
Ugh, but my husband's friend told me it looks as if I have a bird's nest on my head!!! >:(
:'( wich really doesn't help my self confidence at this point!
The cut I got took off alot of the straight pieces, and I am getting really excited about having long, curly, healthy hair! ;)

hey living-
good luck with the growing. i've been growing mine out for over a year from a pixie cut so i know about the frustrating short and mid length blahs. i also, for a while, would get negative comments about my growing-out hair from well-meaning friends. i found that i had been talking about growing out my hair to them, so they felt they could offer hair advice about cutting it, straightening, coloring etc...since i had already brought up hair. when i stopped talking about hair to everyone except fellow long lockers who have similar ideals of hair care and beauty, other people didn't give me as many comments. occasionally a family member will tell me how cute the pixie cut looked on me and how it was good with my profile and i'll just say "yes, now i can't wait to see how good it will look long". then in my head i secretly plot how amazing my future braids will be!

So I got my products yesterday! :) So today I did an acv rinse, I am not sure if I did it right.  :-?I did this first cause I figured there's no point in trying to put the good stuff on top of all the old crud in my hair. :P I also used a couple recomendations in the back of the Curley Girl Handbook.
I made the lavender Mist, although I didn't buy large enough spray bottles ::), I also did the deep endings, followed by the lemon aid. I have my hair pinned where I want height and am waiting for it to dry :-*. I must say when I made the Deep Endings it didn't look like enough, but it turned out to be more than enough. My husband hated the smell of the acv. ;D
I always was teased as a kid about my curley, unruley hair. I never really knew what to do with it, and niether did my mom, so I would always end up with shoter hair cuts :'(. I have a few pics of when I was in Preschool and Kindergarten that I actually think my hair looks awsome, and it was long for me!!!!! :)
I am just keeping my fingers crossed that by using no heat, better products, etc... my hair will really take off growing and I will have shoulder length hair in no time! Once I hit that milestone, it's off to mid back with ease I am sure! ;)

I'm sure too, L&L3.  ;)  My hair was only 20" long when I joined this site. A lot's happened since then. No heat, better products and regular trims have been my success secrets on this crazy journey too...and so it goes. We can do this, sister.

Your hair looks super cute!!!  The top hairs for me are less curly than the rest so they didn't really show a curl pattern until they got long-collar bone lengthish if I remember correctly.  You can manage that issue now with some pin curls for those straighter hairs.

So I have been using conditioner only for a week now, and I really see no problems with it! The only thing I did have a bit of a issue with is the deep endings treatment. The day after, it seemed my hair was really oily! :o I used the lavender spray and my hair curled right up! I also need to use less gel, as today after conditioning, I think I put more than needed in cause my hair felt "stiff" and "crunchy". :P At least the products I am using don't contain alcohol. ;)

I did another acv rinse and oil treatment Saturday morning. After conditioning, my hair seemed frizzy. Not sure why it was different this time. Everything seems to be going well. I haven't straightened my hair in over two weeks!!!
I decided to start making my own facial cleanser, scrub, and mask. I also am trying the honey/cinnamon treatment for my acne. I figure it can't make it any worse. I really like the way my skin feel after using the oil cleanser. I use 1 T. castor oil (castor oil helps dry the skin out, so if you have dry skin you may want to cut this) 1 T oilve oil or jojoba oil, I also add 1 T flax seed oil, and 1 drop tea tree eo. I really like that I don't become excessively oily anymore! After this I will either use a brown sugar scrub or put some acv on a cotton ball and wipe my face with it. I have a mask that is supposed to help with oil, redness, and acne that contains oatmeal, milk, half an apple, and some cucumber! I'm wondering why I spent all that money on store bought products!!

So I put some oo on my ends last nigt and left it on all night. Yesterday, my hair felt really dry! :-[ I ordered different products, as I don't feel that the one I have has enough moisture. Yesterday was a bad curl day! My hair would not lay right at all. :(

My hair feels dry, no matter what I do!!!! :( I plan on making the clean and shine hair mask that BB posted later. It just seems that my curls can't hold it together. Specially on the top of my head. Yesterday I ended up with little stray hairs poking out, and I can feel my hair is really dry. I wonder if it is a bad thing to do an oil treatment everyday or every other day? :-? I ordered some Devacare products. reason for the care is I wanted to treat my hair with "gloves" until I get it in shape. 8-) I watched the cute little video the ladies made about shampoo being bad for your hair! It's quite cute!!! ;D

So I sent back the products, that just weren't cutting it for me, on Monday. Until my Deva products arrive, I am gonna have to use Pantene. I think I am going to try and do an oil treatment or somethng everyday until I feel my hair doesn't need it. Either that or go to a local Beauty School and do an omni. They only charge $5, and they have a hood dreyer. I was told they can't mess it up! I have had it done about twice in my lifetime, and after every time my hair felt really soft. I wonder if the conditioners in the omni conatin any cones? I don't think my hair minds them as Sakina suggested, but I would rather not use them. I would rather deal with getting my hair back to a moisture level that is healthy, instead of hiding the fact it is dry with cones. Anyone ever go to the salon or beauty school for a treatment like this? My stylist told me I should do a deep condition every week.

Ahhh, yesterday I decided, was a no wash day. But, I played with it too much after spraying with the lavender mist :-/. I wish I could get it to lay right, but being as short as it is, it won't. I am thinking I am gonna have to oil or something everyday or every other. I am doing the avocado, honey and egg yolk mask this morning. My deva supplies haven't even shipped yet. :-/

We did Paint Magic last night for the Fire Department and QRU. Ugh, the colors these people pick are unusual to say the least ;D. The person's house that we painted didn't really need our help in my opinon >:(. I am sure there is some little old lady that is by herself that could have used it more. He sat across the street saying ignorent comments the entire night. We have painted houses where even if they were in a wheelcahir, they were out there helping. He actually told my husband to get out of the drink cooler and get to work! I know he was joking, but that just doesn't sit well with me. He told my Father-in-law to get to work, and he replied back why don't you come help? His comment was that he was retired, to which my fil replied, so am I!

I can't believe how long my nails are, and that they are still long! I have been using Jason's tea tree oil on them at night. Supposed to help with chipping and splitting.

I think I will find a babysitter later this afternoon, and venture out on my own for awhile. The kids have me feeling like a maid lately ::). My house is chaos, and I feel out of control. I am waiting for my OCD to kick back in so I can get it clean, but I feel overwhelmed.

Sunday I have an appt. with my tattoo artist! Yes I have several. I decided to sleeve myself, and I have gotten sooo many comments on it, but it is no where near completion. I am the type of person that when I decide I want something, I want it then. So doing my tattoo little by little is driving me insane. I can't wait to seee it finished, I think it has even grown on my husband, who was opposed in the beggining. Having said that, my patience factor is going to prove difficult to overcome in my quest for long hair! I want it soo badly. I haven't used my heat appliances in quite a while, but hair seems to be acting strangely. I hope it is just adjusing, and this phase will pass quickly!

Well the timer just rang, so I am gonna rinse.

Ahhh! I just rinsed, and my hair felt like straw! I don't know what I am doing wrong!! So far my venture to healthy hair hasn't turned out any better than before I started, at least then my hair didn't feel like straw!

So I used conditioner only on my hair this morning. Last night I put in some oo and left it in. I used my pantene, as my devacare products have not arrived. :( After washing, instead of putting in gel, I put a small amount of oo on my ends, and tried not to remove alot of water. It is taking forever to dry, but maybe that is what I was doing wrong. It feels really soft! I am gonna have to blow dry a little cause I am gonna have to leave  in about 15-20 min. and I want it totaly dry before I leave.

Well, I washed yesterday with conditioner only, and didn't remove as much as water as I normally do, and then put some oo on my ends. It took awhile for my hair to dry, and I had to use my blow dryer ( I had an appointment, and my curls were really sticking together, and I could see scalp in places). I put on a Hot Sock, and turned it on low. It really did the trick. I haven't  been able to find any satin pillowcases, but I did find satin wrap, so I have been putting that on. I must say that it is hard to keep on when your hair is shorter, but it does the trick for now. Products have still not arrived, and no email about them being delayed. They ship via UPS and I got the last products faster through someone else and that was shipped USPS!

RTG: I can only hope for this kind of growth to happen to me!

So yesterday was also my day for more tattoo work on my arm. I was apprehensible, because last time I was there, I left with an awful migrane, and ended up in the ER to get rid of it. I have been getting a few lately, but nothing compared to the four weeks of one every day, and I mean I would be in bed, and no lights! My husband would have to put something over the alarm clock, shut the bathroom door, and even then, the smoke alarm's light would bother me! Dr. gave me topamax, ugh that stuff made me a scatter brain! I couldn't walk in a straight line if my life depended on it. My husband thought it was pretty funny that I would always be bumping into things! Anyway, I am happy to say my usual dose of 4 alleve a night (for osteoarthritis, yes I am falling apart!) put me to sleep and did the trick. I think it is the flourecent lights at the shop that always give me the migranes. He got most of my lower arm finished, there is a little portion on the inside, and the stars need color, then it is on to the upper arm!

Ok, so I am gonna have to wash my hair today. Putting oo in it after washing, made my hair super soft and kept the frizz at bay all day 8-). The next day however, the lavender mist didn't really help piece all my curls together :P. Wish I could find some satin pillowcases. My mother-in-law said she used to sleep on them when she was going and having her hair done at the salon everyday! That would be the life!!!
I have some wierd curls on the top of my head that actually want to curl forward instead of laying back like they should. ::) My hair has always had a life of it's own and done as it pleases. It seems to be growing already :)! I find that it seems longer than when I had it cut on the 5th! I haven't measured though. I think I will, so I can figure out how much my hair grows in a months time. My mom had really long hair when I was a baby, and her hair grows super fast! I have been taking a multi, not directed twoards hair, everyday. I hate taking them cause even cut in half, they tend to get stuck in my throat :-[. I usually only take them when hubby is around just incase I can't clear the stupid thing. After the birth of my first son, and I took my prenatals religously, my hair took off growing. I was straightening at that time to, and I think it was the fact I had a demanding newborn that made me cut it, rather than leave it and let it do it's curly thing :-/.
Ugh, the straightening iron calls to me sometimes :-X. I am thinking about selling it, but.... Well it's a CHI and I did spend alot of money on it and I am afraid that I might want to straighten it when it gets long, just once in awhile.
Ok, so I am starting with REALLY short hair! I just measured the hair on the top of my head and it is 5"! We will see where it is next month! I am not completely sure how to measure hair, but the hair on the top of my head is longer, so it will work just to help me find out how much my hair grows in a month!

Hair usually grows at a rate of ½" per month, so it's quite understandable if your hair seems longer than it was on the 5th. It probably is.  ;)

I am excited :D! I never really noticed my hair growth before, and because it is super short I am hoping the time will pass quickly :). My bubby jsut came home and dropped the boys off. He said we have tornado watch! The weather here has been yucky the past two days. The red flag warnings are coming on a daily basis. I guess the basement of our house might come in handy!
Thanks to all you LL members! You have really inspired me to grow my hair HEALTHY!

So, we took my boys to the zoo Thursday, and did some shopping, well as much as I could get in having three small boys with me ::). The kids really liked the zoo, although it was smaller than I remember. We went to pojos to eat and play games. I have to say the day turned out okay for the way it started. My youngest became sick as we were living town :-[. He wasn't running a fever, so we continued on our trip. Then right as we were coming into the towm where we were headed, he got sick again, and then nothing the rest of the time.
My deva products arrived!! Used them yesterday, hair felt really soft and was shiny! I was thinking about getting rid of the little one inch blonde ends I have, they have grown out soo much and when she did them, my hair was longer and she placed them so that when they started to grow out, it wouldn't be noticeable. My hair is just really healthy right now, and I am unsure about dying it. I had like two hairs (that I can see anyway) that broke on me. Plus my shade of brown isn't really matched in their books. My hair pulls red color really well! Everytime I do brown, it ends up more reddish brown. I want something that won't show when it grows out.
As for everything else, my nails continue to grow  :). They look healthy, like when I was in grade school, and they haven't been like this in a while! I guess the tea tree oil is really helping to keep them from chipping, etc.. By now normally I would have hit my nails on something and they would all be broken off, or chipping. I't funny at the mall we went to on our trip Thursday, a man at a kiosk stopped my mom and did some stuff to one of her nails. The stuff is from a kiosk the dead sea?? He used one of those blocks that smooth, and buff the nail, the put cuticle oil on it. He tried to sell he a kit for $50.00!!! :o I told her I could get stuff to do that for cheaper at the beauty supply store! Then he tried to give her two for that price! Then it was I'll give you one for $25.00! Now that price sounded much better for one, but then you weren't really doing me a favor by giving me two for $50!!! I laugh at a guy trying to sell stuff like this  ::), he was saying things that just made me want to laugh! I was like I know I am not a cute young thing, so you can stop kissing up, cause I am not buying a thing!
Ughhhh, clothes shopping! I either need to gain wieght or lose it because I am in between sizes. Hubby was like I prefer you to lose it, and I am like well no kidding :-?!  ME TOOO, and my orthopedic, and doctor.... but tell me what to do cause I am clueless! If I work my legs too much, they get tired and I end up falling, and I have to say that isn't fun and I don't need more medical bills!

I enjoy zoo's when we have a chance to go to them 8-)

What kind of animals does the zoo have that you went to?

We do have a zoo in our state but it is pretty small and has two Bengal Tigers, a Grizzly bear (which has not been there long), some Wolves and some other animals I can't remember right now.

Boise, Idaho is probably the closest large zoo to our state and then the zoo in Salt Lake City but I have not been to either of them yet.
Spokane, Washington has a zoo which we did go to but it is not that big.

Jerry;
We went to the Boise zoo. It's a couple of hours from where we live. They had zebras, a sloth bear, a red panda (it had given birth at the beginning of July and was off limits until it was ready to bring the cub out), tigers, things along that line. My son was kinda dissapointed there wasn't any giraffes. They were working on the African part of the zoo, so I imagine they will. I forgot my camera, which is what happens when I don't pack and plan the night before. I would love to take my boys to the Salt Lake City zoo, when gas goes down a bit, and we can plan to stay the night and maybe go to Lagoon as well. That is a pretty long drive just to go and come back so soon.

That sounds like a neat zoo to visit 8-)   I hope to visit Boise one of these days.

I was wrong about the zoo in our state, it has Siberian tigers not Bengal :-[

If you are curious what animals they have go to this link:  http://www.zoomontana.org

K, so 2nd time using the deva products. One thing I have noticed is that my hair is SUPER soft!  :) But I notice since conditoner washing I have dandruff or some flaky white stuff in my hair, mostly twords the scalp. Not sure if I need to oil my scalp as well, or why it is happening now. Figured if I had it it would be present when using shampoo, unless the cones were hiding that to. I don't think I will try to color the blonde. I think I will just leave it be, as I don't want to color my hair anymore. Save money and my hair! I oiled my hair last night with jojoba oil and wrapped it. Except my wrap never stay on! I must have a wierd shaped head or something cause it works it's way up in the back, and ends up coming off in the night. The quest for satin pillowcases continues. When I wake up in the morning, my hair is scary! I am thinking that a satin pillowcase would help cut down on the messy hair in the morning. It could just be the fact it is super short, and as it gets longer it will be less messy in the mornings, not sure.

YAY!  Your hair looks great!  When I had my hair super short I had to wash or wet it every day.  Curly hair has a mind of its own!!

I prefer silk pillow cases.  I've never compaired prices, so I don't know if or how much more it costs than satin.

This is for 2 cases.  I think I got mine 3 years ago.  They do have sales...

I think I am just going to have to continue doing this. I would just like to wake up and go, but I don't think that is possible with curly hair. It's high maintenance!!!!

Thanks for the web site! I'll have to check it out in the morning!

Well, call it impatience, but I measured the hair on the top of my head again yesterday. :D One strand of curls was 5'', and one in front of that was 5 1/2". I know when I had my hair cut at the beginning of the month the girl didn't do it dry or by the curly girl handbook method (I don't think I'll find anyone in the small perimeter  that cuts hair that way). I know she did cut the top even, so I guess my hair isn't growing uniformly? :-?
We are babysitting my in-law's dog. My bed isn't big enough for me, hubby, and two dogs. These dogs find a spot and plant it! Usually it right against my legs, one on either side! I guess it saves me from thrashing my hair around on the pikkow cause I can't move or roll over, but I can't sleep if I am confined like that. Needless to say I am pretty tired. :P
Yesterday was not a good hair day, as my hubby made me hurry after my shower, and I left for the big pile of reports calling my name at the Fire Station before my hair was dry.  :-[I stared at the wall (I have to use a projector to shine the computer screen against a wall to see what I am doing because the computer is in an awkward place.) as long as I could without giving myself a migrane. :( Plus he made me skip breakfast, so I had run out of steam and sugar within an hour. I should have never let the Fire Department guys know my computer skills! Then I was roped into becoming a First Responder and joining the Quck Response Unit, and was voted Administartive Assistant, in charge of what else, paper work and scheduling! Yay!!!  ::)Ugh, and then hubby was voted President, against my wishes I might add. He is soo busy these days without having something extra to worry about. I mean when he isn't on Police Duty, he was always down at the Fire Department (by the way it's paid volunteer, and the extra money helps alot!), but now he has the extra bonus of dealing with running something else. Needless to say we fought. Now he has the joy of dealing with someone that was pulled over and arrested for DUI (not while on call). FUN FUN! IDK, call me selfish, but I want some time with him, and I don't mean that we are both at the FD working! I am hoping that we will get a chance to go on vaca together, without the boys. We never really got a homeymoon, and I would love to go somewhere romantic! :-*
Anyway if you took the time to read this, sorry about all the ranting. It's just that he took off while I was still sleeping this morning to go do something for the FD or QRU and I have plenty that I could use help with around here. Esp. with a 3 year old potty training!! :D

Thanks Sakina! I am surprised that some men can talk and breath at the same time!  ;D It was kinda hard to hide my talents from them when my husband is saying, "she can do it!"
I am trying to be better about what I eat, but it's hard to change. I don't even know where to start! I was thinking about joining weight watchers, but I dunno. I have also been trying to get mu hubby to go down to the Fire Station and work out with me, cause I don't know where to start or what to do, but so far I have been unsucessful.
Good news though! My cousin had her baby boy! She's all, he was a whopping 5 lbs! I was like huh? :-? Talk about whopping mine were all 8 lbs  :D!

Tanai: Yeah, I have been wanting to lose weight for a while, and even purchased some pilates videos, but they are too hard on my legs. :-[ I have osteoarthritis in my knee joints really bad. I had my knee caps removed because they wouldn't stay put. Ever since then, I can be walking and my joint still slips and I hit the ground.

I tell my husband what he should do all the time, not in a bossy way or anything. I always get to say I told you so when he does it his way! ;D I dunno I just like  efficiency.

Good news!! The potty training is going really well! He finally decided to be totally independant! I mean this kid was dressing himself, and getting on the internet and playing the kids games at PBS, and various other things at the age of 2, but wanted nothing to do with pottying until now and he is 3 1/2. Yeah, I am so glad all my boys are out of diapers, and all 3 will be going to school this year!
*Sniff, Just realizes she will be alone for half a day until her baby gets home from school*
Speaking of school, my first a second graders supplies are outrages! They have to have a certain brand of things. Even the sanitizing wipes have to be lysol or clorox! One has to have an 8 oz. bottle of glue and then 8 glue sticks!!!! 4 boxes of 24 count crayons. And then I have to buy the dry erase makers for them to write on the board with! This all goes to school with them. Makes me wonder if it all gets distributed to my kid, or someone elses. I know last year I bought pencils, and those pencils weren't the same ones that were sent home in his school box at the end of the year. I don't mean to sound like a complaining parent, but some families can't afford all this, let alone the name brand stuff they require.

Wow, when I was in school all of that stuff was supplied by the school.  Well, they didn't have hand sanitizers back then. ::)  However, you didn't have to bring your own crayons or other supplies except for pencils, personal notebooks and folders.

One of the math classes that I started in college tried pulling that same crap. The teacher required a special $200 calculator just to take the class and I dropped immediately. I'm not spending $200 just to check my work, sorry.  :P

I know it's really crazy that we are expected to buy all this stuff. Esp. with gas and grocery prices on the rise. I find that even school supplies are not costing what they used to. Add in school clothes, shoes, lunches for the year, assembly fees (yes here we are required to help pay for assemblies!) all x2, then I have preschool which costs me around $65.00/month!  :oWow if my kids listened to me better, and I was more patient I think homeschool would be much cheaper! ::) I can only imagine when my little one goes and I have to multiply all this x3! Worse yet, when they hit teenage years and have to have certain clothes, etc...  :(

On a good note, I found that washing my hair everyday really helps me to get the shape of my curls back. And wowy, where my natural color is, is it shiny! I wish I knew my natural color looked this good. I haven't straightened for a whole month now! Only used the blow dreyer once w/ a hot sock, and only for a couple minutes! I figure on washing it everyday until I gain some length, so when I sleep on it, I'm not sleeping on all my hair, if that makes sense! I am absolutely in love with the devacare and devacurl products! My friend will be going to NYU, and she says once she learns her way around, she is gonna send me a plane ticket to come visit her and her fiance!!!! I am hoping I will have some notice and I can go to the salon where Lorraine Massey and her crew are, so I can get a good cut! Hopefully it will be long by then to! Well at least to my shoulders!

*rubs knees* that sounds just awful. Goodness and you're young yet too. And you manage to run after three kids! Just amazing!  :o

On the school supplies thing... now they're getting brand specific? If it's for the personal use of your kid what difference does it make whether you fork over extra dough or save and buy the cheaper generic stuff that works just as well. *shakes head* My mom used to work at a craft store and she said parents would come in with their kids (anything from elementary and up) and they would have these enormous lists for these bizarre school projects and by the time the parents got everything that was needed it cost a few hundred dollars, hearing about the brand name products it makes me wonder if that wasn't why these projects cost so much. Glad to see schools think money grows on trees.  :-? *clutches dollar store glue sticks, "don't worry I still love you"*  [smiley=happy.gif]

Yeah, everyone I know that finds out about my knees says I am too young! I TOTALLY agree! All I can do is wait until my knees finally give out, and the I get knee replacements, but they want to wait as long as possible!

So last night I applied oo and left on all night. I washed this morning, and am currently waiting for my hair to dry. I did this because at the end of the day, my hair looks dry in areas. Some curls are beautiful and shiny and soft, all day, others, well they look dry and rough after my ahir dries  :P. I am thinking about taking a spray bottle and making an oil/water mist, but I have no idea how :-?. I had some lavender mist made up, but with my short hair, I find I have to wash everyday after sleeping on my hair to get my curls to bounce back.
In other news, I have an appt. with the dermatologist Thursday. My breakouts have worsened :-[! It's funny that all through High School I really didn't have a problem, but once I got into my 20's, ugh. It's even worse now that I am in my late 20's. The doc has me on a pill and a cream. I hate the cream, ever since I have been using it my face has gotten really oily and I hate putting on makeup cause it just slides off or seperates in puddles on my face :-/. And if I don't use a moisturizer my face feels tight and unbearable! I am hoping the discussion leads to accutane, and no creams! I know all the hype behind accutane and child bearing aged women, but there will be NO more babies in this house, at least not from me! ;D Hubby has his second round of dental work on Wednesday. After this he better take care of his teeth! I had one cavity, my oldest son had 2! My middle son's mouth was too small to take x rays and so was my 3 year olds. The entire bill is gonna run us about 6-700.00 and max out my husband's dental benifits for this year :o! The office told me about a card that I could get and have 18 months no interest on, so I went with that. Hopefully we won't have a large bill like this ever again! I bought everyone electric tooth brushes, as that is what they said would be best for my husband, and I figured it would do most of the work for the boys! Hopefully I am right! :)

L&L3...my dear...

Accutane is NOT for the faint of heart. Let me just tell you that right now. It is for those who have already tried everything else and all of it has failed to work. And it doesn't sound like your acne is terribly severe.
You must use 2 forms of birth control starting 1 month before you begin the treatments, which usually last about 5 months. And this stuff dries you out like you can't even imagine. If you have dry skin already, this is not a good idea.
Also, Accutane is extremely expensive. I'm not kidding. Think severed limbs and firstborn children. I strongly suggest alternative options.

And yes, I absolutely know what I'm talking about. I took the highest dose of Accutane for 7 months (the usual 5 was not enough), as I have suffered with severe acne all of my life. Literally - I was born with it. And by the time I entered high school, it progressed to the cystic variety, which cannot be treated topically. We're talking an extreme case. That's why I caution you against it. I've been there.

Know what else? The results aren't permanent. Nope, it's quite common for Accutane patients to return in 10 years for additional treatment.

As for your makeup issues, try applying a light layer of loose powder before your foundation. It will prevent foundation from sliding or pooling on your face and also helps it last a lot longer. Apply your usual powder after foundation, concealer, etc. of course. And there ya go. A tried & true makeup secret from the goth community to you.  ;)

And oil sprays are easy to make. Find a small spray bottle - chain stores usually have these in their travel size section - in whichever color you prefer. Use a small amount of your oil of choice (I've used baby oil and EVOO) to line the bottom of the spray bottle with. The heavier your oil, the less of it you'll need. Add a little aloe vera gel next. Slightly more than the amount of oil that you used (I don't have exact measurements or anything, I just eyeball it). Fill the rest of the bottle with purified water and shake well.
The aloe gel acts as an emulsifier to suspend and evenly distribute the oil throughout the water mix.

HTH

I have tried several creams, all of which made my face dry or extra red becasue of sensitivity issues. I knew about the 2 forms of birth control, but didn't really know anything else about it. Thanks Angel Spun! There wasn't a whole lot about it when I searched it besides the general information.

I generally just use jane iredale mineral makeup, so my foundation is a powder, but that line makes a primer that is supposed to help with excess oil, it hasn't worked for me! I would love to get my skin to the point where I don't feel like I need foundation, but I know I am my worst critic!

Thanks for the oil spray info!

So while checking out ebay, I found a large bottle of Ouidad Deep Treatment, and placed my bid. *Keeping fingers crossed*  I also found a bonnet that attaches to my hair dryer. We don't have many beauty supply stores where I am :(, I think there is actually one that is open to the public. So I am pretty much limited to online shopping if I want anything. It could be a good thing, or bad. It gives me a chance to comparison shop, but I really have to trust the site before I buy, and then there is the returning hassle if I don't like it, and the waiting!! As I said earlier, I am the type of person that when they decide they want something, I want it now ::)! I have limited patience, but I am learning!
I have been cleaning house all day, but haven't gotten very far, so my hair hasn't even been styled or washed! :P As a matter of fact I usually stay in my pjs while cleaning, and shower when I am done. I guess this is a good way to let my natural hair oils come into play. Speaking of hair oils, I have been wondering where everyone gets theirs? I found jojoba oil at the local Fred Meyers, and Olive Oil is kinda a give away. But where can you find the others? And can anyone tell me what kind of oils you can use in your hair? I think palmers makes an olive oil cream, but I haven't bought it because of the ingrediants listed on the back. I wanna try other oils because I don't know if something else might work better unless I try.
Well the my clothes dryer just beeped, so I better go fold! *Wishes she could see an end to laundry* ;D

Good Luck on ebay!!!

I really like camellia oil.  It can be expensive.  I found a few listings on Amazon pretty cheap.

I got my last batch from here:
http://www.naturesgift.com/carrier_oils/Camellia-Oil.htm

Be sure to try jojoba and almond.  You may have to try a bunch to see what your hair likes.  I also use organic sesame oil for a deep oiling, and sunflower for scalp massage.

Well you've got your basic oils covered, but I've heard people mention apricot kernel oil, and I've used grape seed oil, basically you just have to find out what your hair likes because some oils will be too light and others too heavy. The best place to get them is at a health food store, especially seeing as you're one of those impatient types, (so am I  ;) )they'll have several types that are typically used on hair/body.

Ok, forgive me but I have straightened! :-[
I had to see what my hair looked like straight and how long it really was! Well, it doesn't look good straight! I am at a very akward stage right now and leaving my hair curly hides this. I also found that the left side of my hair is longer than the right  :-?, Much longer! I don't know if the last time it was cut, it wasn't done evenly, or that side just took off and grew (highly unlikely). I didn't spend the time I normally would have straightening (I didn't section, and go from the roots all the way down) I just kinda grabbed and went! So maybe it didn't hurt too bad?!? :-/ Anyway, I oiled last night and I am gonna do acv rinse this morning. I realized that I have been kinda sporadic about acv rinses and oiling, but with 3 little ones, nothing is set in stone.

Grrrrr, straightening!  >:(  As I've said, straight hair is overrated and I should know. Your penance is a deep conditioning treatment and a possible sacrifice to the hair gods later on. Oh, and do get those ends trimmed up evenly by the start of September, mmmkay?  ;)

And about the oils, I just use regular ol' store brand EVOO from the grocery. I'm not big on oiling, so it doesn't matter much to me.

;D *Bows her hed in shame* LOL AngelSpun.
My next trim comes around August 30, that's 8 weeks from my last. I will definatley be evening things up then! I lost the bidding war for the big bottle of ouidad deep treatment  :(, but I did find one in Burts Bees. I didn't make it to the healthfood store today for any different kind of oils, that will have to be another outing another time without the boys. In the mean time I decided to use jojoba oil because when I put it on last night and woke up this morning, my hair seemed to have absorbed all of it, and my hair didn't feel too greasy or anything. When I used oo, my hair was super greasy! Even after leaving it in all night.

Title: Re: Short-Long by livingandlovingx3

Ok so I did my penance, and used my burts bees avocado butter treatment this morning. I left in in for 2x as long as the directions called for, then washed. I still used my leave in. Right now my hair is clipped and drying. I thought I saw a split end this morning  :o, but it was just two hairs stuck together  ::). I think for my next trim, I will go to someone I have been going to for awhile off and on. I only went somewhere else cause they said they had someone that cut curly hair, what a joke ;D! This person has been trying to get me to grow out my hair, and knows me quite well. She has long hair although it's not curly, the manager has curly hair. She's my only option unless I want to travel over 200 miles for a haircut by someone that supposedly cuts curly hair, and right now that is not feasible. I might try to get a bottle of ouidad deep treatment off the HSN website. It's a little cheaper, and I think the biggest bottle they carry is 8 oz., but for as short as my hair is that should do.

Laundry AGAIN! :P I really need to get my rear in gear and get my house cleaned from top to bottom, but the motivation is lacking.  :-/ Anyway today is hubby's last day of work (they work four 12 hour days, then get four days off). I know however that we will be working at the fire station :(, where there is no air conditioning!

*squeals* I love the Burt's Bees avocado butter! It makes my hair so happy.  :) I leave it in all day, or you can do all night obviously. It makes my hair really soft, I found I got it to work better as an intensive if I mixed it with some of my conditioner and then left it on all day. It made my hair so soft, I haven't been able to do it again since then because I'm running low, *must buy more!* I use it as a shine treatment too. Just a small dab and I smooth it down my combed hair it makes my straight hair super shiny. Good luck with it though, I love finding cheap things that actually work. *scampers off to see if she has enough left to do that this Friday*

Yeah, it seems to have made my hair happy as well, but my curly unruly hair has a tendency to change it's mind as to what it thinks it needs, so we'll see.  :) I think I will stick to using it as a deep treatment mostly beacuse I already put alot in my hair after washing 1. leave in 2. gel 3. moisture lock. I am thinking I could possibly use it when I get to the point I don't need to wash everyday.
On another note, I finally found some satin pillowcases! I bought two to see how I would like them, and I slept on them last night. They are comfy!!! Makes me want to buy an entire sheet set like that! Really didn't have an effect on not giving me bed head, but that is because I messed my hair up before I went to bed.
The boys have their second night of vacation bible school tonight, so hubby and I will have a couple hours of peace and quiet!
I was at my uncle's house the other day and my youngest, who is potty training, had to go but instead of telling me he pulls his pant down and pees in my unlce's yard  :o  ;D! Now my uncle is REALLY fininky about his yard, he even has a fake gravestone in his front yard that reads: Here lies the last dog that peed in my yard. So it was hillarious to see the reaction. P.S. I never taught my son to use the outdoors as a restroom, I have no idea where he learned it, then again looking at his character, I wouldn't put it past him. He is my stubborn, and knows he is cute child.
Anyway, back to cleaning house!

Oh my gawd. lol Kids, eh?  ::)

Congrats on the satin pillowcases! What color?
I have 2 pairs of them - 1 black and 1 gold. The latter is part of the gold satin sheet set that I have.
And satin sheets are absolutely divine!! I highly recommend them. The best ones that I've found come from JC Penney, but you can find cheaper ones at Bed Bath & Beyond, if there's one in your area.  :)

Life would definately be dull without my boys, they make me smile at times, and make me wanna pull my hair out at others! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
The cases are white :(, not my choice, but that is all they had! I will definately be looking for satin sheets, although the JcPenny here is one that doesn't carry much bedding stuff, and the nearest bed bath & beyond is over 200 miles! Thank goodness for the internet! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

So I can tell my hair is becoming longer cause my curls are "looser" if that make sense!?! It has reacted really well to my devacare products. If I would have known about this stuff a long time ago my hair would probably be at my goal by now [smiley=tongue.gif] [smiley=tongue.gif] [smiley=tongue.gif]! First No Wash Day

So I didn't wash, just sprayed with lavender mist, added a little more gel, and went on with my day. It wasn't too bad until this afternoon when I took a bit of a nap, then it became really frizzy. I tried to twist my sides back and then connect them in the back, but not having long enough hair to really do anything with I am lacking in anything that would join them together and look good. I'll have to practice as my twist isn't holding very well. At least it is something that I can do, so I don't feel entirely hopeless with my hair! Can anyone reccommend a site for hair toys?
Dermatologist gave me a new pill (can't think of the name) and clindomicyn (sp?). He said the pill might not work because it is summer and it might make me too photosensitive, and the cream might irritate my sensitive skin. He did ask if I was done having kids, so he could consider some different options later. I have a follow up in November. The reason he gave for the old stuff not working is I probably just built up a resistance. Story of my life! I told him it seem to have gotten worse with age because I know it was never this bad in High School. My dad suffered from acne until his late 40's so I suppose I am doomed.
I ordered some black satin sheets today, and can't wait to sleep on them, as I am loving my pillowcases. We have a lovely Red Flag warning that was paged yesterday and in effect until Friday for thunder showers. I hope it rains, but I hate the mugginess the cloud coverage brings. I am one of those people that feel like they are suffocating whenever I am in green house! Thinking about working out to lose some weight, I jsut want hubby to do it with me. I have been walking, although not far for the fear of falling with only my kids with me. In-Laws are gonna let my husband and I use their bicycles to go on rides with the kids, so I am thinking of riding nightly by myself for awhile after hubby gets home in the evenings. I used to ride bikes for hours when I was younger,  and for quite some distance
!

Let me know how you like those sheets I'm contemplating them for myself when I get a new bed. Biking is great exercise! I hope it works for you, I think I last rode a bike when I was... 10/11 I don't even have a bike ha ha.

Oiling

HAIR: So I bought one of those tubes that you let sit in hot water, then apply to your hair. My hair did not like it at all  >:(. It wasn't soft, and looked dry. My hair has been behaving odd lately. I don't know if it is because of growth or just being stubborn, but my "bangs" don't like to go with the flow. :( I plan on using the Burts Bees Avocado butter today to see if I can get my hair to do what the oil didn't. Needless to say I won't be using that oil again!

OTHER: The Police Department's new car came yesterday, and my husband is the one that wires in the radios and stuff. They got a 2006 Dodge Charger. We were outside working in the trunk, and my husband takes a wrench to undo something and his gold wedding ring touched the battery an the wrench touches something metal, and sparks flew!  :o His ring is in need of some gold filling, as it melted two small spots on it. His finger looks horrible! At first it was just red, but then it started to blister, and I mean his poor finger is pretty much just a huge blister on the lower part.  :( Now he gets to walk around without a wedding band on, I can hear the rumors of our small town now! >:( One person thought that because my husband eats breakfast at his Mother's house the days he works, we must be getting a divorce! No, he has eaten there since he started working here 8 years ago! ::) He does it as a courtesy for me and the kids. He has to go to work at 5 a.m. and I like to sleep, and he doesn't want to wake the boys up by staying home and making a bunch of noise, so he goes to his Mom's.
I haven't seen any problem with the pills the Dermatologist gave me, but the cream! After using it my face burns and itches like crazy! :-[ I don't think this was the same stuff I had tried before. I will be calling him on Monday to let him know about the problem I have encountered.
I have been talking to an old friend. We used to be really close 6 years ago, but she moved away and her life went down a path of bad choices. It seems strange to be talking with her now. I have changed alot, and I don't know, things just seem odd. Probably because after she left I really never got close, like I was to her, to another person. My husband encourages me to talk to her because it would give me someone to do things with, and he wouldn't have to do them with me. I want to go out and so things with someone, but we both have three boys, and I usually don't take my boys with me shopping or anything because I can get it done faster, and quieter without them. My Mom or his usually watches them for me, and they don't mind becasue they know I am home with them ALL the time and need a break. Too bad my break is grocery shopping! [smiley=bath.gif] The term working mother is redundant!

Pure lavender essential oil is very healing for burns.  If he doesn't have any punctures, you could try this.  I've used it on burns and my skin never scarred.

Sorry about your owie skin!

I have 3 cats, no kids.  I can't imagine having kids, I'm too selfish!!!

I like to do acv rinses before I do a deep conditioning, no matter what type.  I feel like it really makes a difference w/the penetration.  Do you have hard water?

Title: Re: Short-Long by livingandlovingx3

Thanks for the tip on lavender eo Sakina! I have some so I'll have to try this on him as he doesn't have any punctures, just one BIG blister that we have been debating to pop or not. We were taught that blisters are an aid against infection, etc.. in our first responder training, but others say to pop it. We'll see.

We have very hard water where we live, but I have a water softner. I'll have to try the acv rinse before next time.

I used to use those hot oil treatments before. I never thought they made any difference in my hair so I stopped luckily I've found the avocado butter, seems to be the only one my hair likes, haven't been using it though because I'll be changing shampoo and conditioner and want to see how well they work. Nothing weirder then oil making hair dry.  :-?

Yikes! Your husbands finger sounds painful I hope the lavender eo works for him blisters from shoes hurt enough I can't imagine how much that must hurt.

It's hard to get close again to people you haven't seen in years. They change you change. I suppose it can be done. I was like that with my cousin, then she moved away and we didn't talk for like five years or so, then when I saw her again, it didn't feel the same at all. Like we had both changed too much. And even though she wanted to get close again because she was moving back up this way I never pursued it because I felt we had just become too different. I suppose it is possible to rekindle a friendship, especially if you still have things in common. I know what's it's like to not have anyone to do things with, all my friends abandoned me when they went to college. None of them have kept in touch even though I did contact them before. That stunk but I coped. Can't miss it too much we never did anything because there wasn't anything to do out here.  :P Oh well maybe it'll work better for you.  :)

Thanks Tanai.

I did the avocado butter, MUCH better! My hair is soft and back to normal! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

As for the friend issue, she just left, and I don't know. Having all my friends leave has kinda made me doubt people. I don't really know how I come across to her because most of my company has been guys my husband knows. I guess only time will tell.

Hair: I found come cute little clips on ebay, well I am not exactly sure if they'll work in my hair as of yet. They are from Hong Kong, and I haven't seen anything like them here.

Anyway, I am gonna do my usual wash today.

Other: Woke up last night not feeling well at all. Now this morning I have a headache already, and the boys fighting doesn't help! :o I have to remember to call the

Ok, I have to rant. Yesterday I found out that someone my husband works with called me a b****! Well, I get along with everyone else, except him. The reason being that his wife cried on my shoulder when he cheated on her, more than once! I have no respect for men that go back to try and work things out, and then get caught in a hotel room with the same girl, and he says nothing happened.  >:( That's a load of crap!!!! He should have severed all ties with that woman when he went back to his wife. Now I have seen what he has dated, and what kind if lives they lead, and in his profession, he shoudn't be with them. Not to mention he brought one of them to our office Christmas Party, even though the department was dealing on a cse with her! What a LOSER! Then he has the nerve to go out in public on duty and call me that!?! I have the right not to like him, and he does me, but to say that to someone while he is working is unethical to say the least. He whines about everything! My husband wired his car, but he wanted to do it himself, even though he has no idea of what to do, because my husband was doing it at our house and all the guys were coming over to hang out, except him, which by the way no one told him he couldn't. I don't understand how someone can find this man cute, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole, for fear of catching something ajax couldn't kill!  ;D I think he finds me threatening because 1. I don't find him attractive and 2. I think for myself, and not how my husband thinks.
The next time I see this jerk and he says hi to me I should say b****es don't say hi to a**h****! That should make his jaw drop!

I find it funny that I threaten him that much that he had to talk smack about me behind my back. The only thing that really bothers me is that he was on duty when he was saying all this. People in his profession should know better, but I have to remember this is the guy who was cheating on his wife while on duty. I wish he would go work somewhere else! No body he works with likes him, except for the boss, and I don't know why!

Dermatologist is calling in a new cream for me, and said that the pills could be causing my migrane!! :-/ Since they cause sensitvity to light, and this morning light coming in my windows is absolutely unbearable! They told me to let them know if it continues. I also put in a call to my dr. about my migrane meds. I can't take the Topamax, because I can't function on it, and I don't find it funny that I walk into things constantly but I can't continue having them either! My hair looks horrible since I laid down before it was completely dry. :(

But the fact that he's doing it on duty is despicable you're right that he should know better. His personal opinions of people have nothing to do with his job so he should keep that for his own time.  >:(

Aww, migraines are awful, I had a couple in my mid teens. I hope your head and your skin feel better. My acne's flourishing now itself, with all of it I look like I'm 13 again, not cool.  :P

Ok, so today I decided not to wash today. Awfully brave of me considering I mowed the lawn last night and when I came in the top of my head was mostly frizz  :D. Anyway, I decided to pull a potion of my bangs back and secured them w/ two bobby pins. It looks ok. My bangs are at a length where they just stick out instead of blend in, they are curly, but they don't blend.

In other news, I had to cut back my nails as they were becoming too long and I found it uncomfortable to hold a pen! I usually have to have fake nails put on to get that problem! Today I have to go and pick up my new prescriptions, pickup my husbands Madden '09 game for the Wii, see what it would cost to fix his ring, and something else I can't think of at the moment and probably won't until I get all the way back home!  ::)
My sheets came yesterday. I can't wait to wash them and sleep on them! They feel soo soft! Husband still has a HUGE blister on his finger. I am surprised it hasn't popped, but I am glad it hasn't so he has a barrier against infections etc..

I went to fill my prescriptions today and the cream I have been on before, the pills the insurance wouldn't cover. It would have cost me $300.00/ monthly  :o. The doctor then gave me something that is in the same family as I was on before, so we'll see how it works. I did find out that Accutane is covered, but I would pay more than just the normal co-pay. The generic brand is covered and the $10.00 copay we have would apply. I don't know if it will come to using it, but I thought it best to know. I took my husband's ring in and it will only cost $30 to fix, I say only becasue I thougt it was going to be much more. These new pills are going to throw me off. I have to wait 1 hour before of 2 hours after eating, 2-3 hours before or after I take my vitamen, and I can't lie down for 30 minutes after, and I am supposed to take on an empty stomach unless it makes me sick, then I take it with food. (I take them at bedtime) The other thing is I am supposed to take 1 a day for two weeks and if it doesn't clear up then I move to 2x day. Geesh, wish me luck! ;D

HAIR: I oiled last night, as my hair seems to be realy dry. :P I don't know why, it was looking really good before this week. I wonder if it had something to do with that crappy hot oil stuff I used. When I went to the mall yesterday to get J's ring fixed, I kept glancing over at the salon, which is right across the way. The girl I want to go to was working, and I was really tepmted even though my 8 weeks isn't up yet. I held strong and resisted! :) I am just going to wash today, and I am thinking about not using the no poo, and just the one condition.
Other: Ok, my scale is playing mind games with me. ::) Last night it made me depressed by saying 197 :o, and this morning it says 175 :D. I lost about 20 pounds overnight, I'm good ;D! While 175 is better than 197, my ultimate weight is 125-130 so I have alot of work to do. When I married I was 110 then I had my first son, and I gained alot of weight, but it was just starting to come off when, SURPRISE! Baby #2 was on the way! This is still the heaviest I have ever been, and I am really uncomfortable in my own skin.
Today is J's last day of work, and whew, am I glad. My "friend" is supposed to call me today so the kids can get together and play. Thursday his Mom is watching some kids, so she always has us bring over the boys so they can all play together. Yay! A day off from the boys! ;) Although I am sure I won't be doing anything fun, unless you call working fun. Anyway, I guess I should go see what all the screaming is about downstairs!

I wish I had a magic scale that would tell me I dropped 20lbs  ;) You were 110 at 5'8" when you got married  :o Wow! Unfortunately I think you maybe in need of a new scale. False numbers don't do anyone any good. Besides you don't need it to magically tell you you're gaining weight if you're not. We had a scale like that, it says I'm 7lbs heavier then I am on the accurate scale. Not fun, especially before we bought a new one.  :o Ha ha, too be the equivalent of your 110 at 5'8" I would have to weigh... 85lbs  :o :D rotfl you tall people are so lucky. I've been uncomfortable in my skin for a long time I think very little of it has to do with weight issues but I unfortunately know the feeling. :-/ You can be that slender without having problems. Your weight goal sounds healthy. If you're scale keeps it up you could be there in oh, 5 days.  ;) Good luck, just the same!

My "friend" never called today. Story of my life to wait around the house all day because someone said they would call or come over! Oh well, it's not like I had something I had to do anyway. Thursday=no kids! Hmmm, now if I only had something fun to do! May be I'll make J take me to lunch or something.

Karma struck while the baboon was away!  ;D He was gone and someone did something with a head gate for irrigation and his basement flooded. There was 2-3 inches of standing water in his basement! To bad he rents. I also flipped him the bird when he drove by my house earlier, much to my husband's dismay.

I oiled again last night and just used conditioner on my ends again this morning. I will probably have to use my no poo tomorrow, as I don't think I could pull off another day without washing. I don't think I will oil tonight, I think if I did it would be too much, but I will see how my hair is in the morning after I wash it. I may have to do it everyother or every couple days.

We finally got the bikes from his parrent's house. I haven't been on a bike since grade school and was a little shaky at first, specially when stopping. By the time we got to our house I had the hang of it, but I really felt the muscles above my knee in my right leg pulling! :o A downer is that the bike seat is hard on the tush! :-/ Oh, and my husband is making me wear a helmet! We had to take his bike to a bike store because a bolt was missing from where the chain changes gears, so he wa unable to shift, and it had a flat tire. they said they would just give it a tune-up and that would run $45 + the cost to fix the tire (a tube of slime). Hopefully I don't go back to pick it up and it's more than $50 cause it's not that expensive of a bike, and it's not even ours. If I wanted I could have spent $75 and bought my uncle's bikes that are worth more, and are in working order. I have been wanting to buy the Wii fitness bundle to see what it is like and if I could actually do the stuff. I tried pilates and my poor legs couldn't handle it.

No surprise I didn't do anything fun today. :( My great outing was to buy milk ( we go through 4 gallons in less than a week). Tonight J has a meeting and is on med calls ALL NIGHT! Geesh, the crazy person that does the schedule needs a talking to (that would be me) ::).

Today I did wash with no poo, but I put one condition on my ends first adn I let it sit for awhile before applying the no poo, and before I did I added a little more on conditon to the ends. Everything came out fine. I decided to trim and even out my sides today cause the girl that I wanted to cut my hair is going to be gone the last few weeks of thsi month. She said my hair looked really healthy!!!! :) She had chopped off all her hair! Her hair was mid-back length or longer, I tried not to pay much attention cause it would just make me mad at myself. >:( While I was in there a lady came in with either her daughter or grandaughter and was asking about highligts for her 13 year old whatever! She had BSL length hair that looked in need of a good 2" trim. They were qouted $60-$80. I thought for a 13 year old! Not to mention the cost of touch-ups! If I had a daughter I don't think I would allow that at her age. Maybe the ones that wash out, but not permanates.
Got J's ring back today. It doesn't look to bad, but it's not what it used to be. I recieved the form to apply for reduced/ free school lunches today. Last year we got reduced which takes it from $1.55 to .40. This year it will cost me around $140.00 for both boys if we get reduced again, which I don't see why we wouldn't. I have to pay for their lunches + $8 each for assemblies + $3 something each for National Geaographic subscriptions! Add on top of  that all the supplies and school clothes, I am broke!  :o

Nothing really new or exciting!

I forgot to mention one thing, the girl who trimmed my hair said something about taking fish oil. She said it make your nails and hair grow. I did some research and found  information on it, but not alot. Mainly just said it is good for hair, skin, and health. Anyway, I decided to put it to the test. I bought a bottle of 100 Nature Made 1200 mg w/ Omega 3 softgels last night form Walmart (I would have gone to the health food store, but this was late at night). The directions say to take one or two softgels two times a day. I am going to start with one softgel twice a day. I will continue to take my multi, as I have seen great effects with taking this everday for the past three months (nail growth). I have yet to know if the Jason's nail saver is really working. I have cracked both thumb nails on the sides, and for far of them ripping staright across (owy, owy), and snagging on things, I cut them. Last night I also lost my middle fingernail on my left hand. I jsut reached for something and the tip of the nail snapped. So I am not sure if my continued use every night is making them to hard, and therefore will make them snap when hit hard enough.
J and I also went to IHOP late last night. I got an omlette that was HUGE! I got about half way through and took the rest home. One thing I have to control is eating until I feel stuffed. I need to watch myself, and just eat until I feel full. I have been doing ok, but there is plenty of room for improvement. I have also been trying to limit my intake of carbonated beverages. I used to only drink soda, but have changed to drinking milk, and water mostly with about 1-2 sodas a day. I would cut it out completely, but I think I am afraid of the withdrawl symptoms I would have (more headaches than I already have).
My new acne meds have shown some results, but one side of my face is still breaking out pretty bad. Come Tuesday I will have been on them a week, so if I see no improvement in another week, I will up the dosage to 1 pill 2x a day, per doctor's orders.
Ok, so I think that is all. Plus the movie Aeon Flux is on, and I have never seen it, just the animated version that was on MTV late nights! I loved it then, so I ma curious about the movie!

You can also try taking Biotin for your hair and nails. I've been taking it for almost two years now. My hair's thicker and it tends to grow faster...unless of course I have somehow reached my terminal length  :o but it used to. And my nails, which used to break and peel all the time, not unlike what yours sound like, are now all long and strong at 1/4" past fingertip each. Now Biotin does take six months to work... but I think it's worth it in the end. Oh and good luck cutting out the soda, that stuff is nasty for you, so it is best to stop drinking it, just watch out for caffeine withdrawal like you mentioned.

Tanai: I have read past posts about Biotin, and while it sounds wonderful, I know I need a multi, and I have enough trouble remembering to take everything I do now, not to mention the added problem about taking anything 2-3 hours (something like that) before or after I take my doctor prescribed meds for my acne! I am not a whiz on vitamens by any means, but I know it's bad to overdose on some things, and I am not sure how Biotin would react, if at all, with my multi and fish oil. Yes caffiene withdrawls are horrid, I know first hand!

Sakina: I thought about taking them, but I wasn't even sure she would be there, and I'll have to ask her next time I see her, if she wouldn't mind doing that for me. I did tell her what I was using after she told me my hair looked really good. I told her the no poo has no SLS and the conditioner has no cones in it, and she said that is really great. I also told her that I have been using oo and acv, and what for. I am surprised that she didn't know about that stuff already.
I really liked Aeon Flux! That was awsome! J changed the channel while I was getting ready, so I saw the start of UltraViolet, but nothing beyond that. I have seen Underworld, but not in awhile. I really liked that movie as well. I have always been drawn to strange movies, specially if they are about vampires and such. I even like the Harry Potter movies!

Sorry,  :-[ I come from a vitamin popping atmosphere, so I know a lot and tend to share. But for the record biotin doesn't interfere with either the fish oil or your multi, actually I take a multi that has some biotin in it. Now with your medication I don't know, probably not, but I don't want to say for sure. Most natural supplements don't interact with most medications so *shrug*. Well it's out there if you ever try.

Don't I know it! My multi isn't that big, but I heard from Dr. OZ, that you should cut it on half and take one in the morning and the other one later. Something about maximizing the absorbtion I think  :-? ? When I take a half, it has gotten stuck in my throught on one than more occasion, luckily I haven't had to give my self the heimlich. I don't even want to think about liquid supplements, blah, I don't think it would stay down! :P

Just been conditioning the ends. Nothing really significant or exciting.

Every once in awhile I go into a worry mode. Yesterday was ok, but when I woke up in the middle of the night, all hell broke loose! I worried about finances mostly. Are house payment is set to go up in January (due to property taxes), I know we will be fine, it's just a little tight for comfort. Specially with the way groceries and such are going up. Luckily I don't have to by any beef, as we bought a half before this year and still have plenty. I am hoping it will last us until we get our taxes back next year, and then I hope to buy another half, but there is no telling what could come up. I was a total retard and bought my husband a flat screen television, and we got no payments or interest for a year, which gives us until March 2009, so the price of that comes out of taxes! So much for thinking I could get a vacation! One of these days when I tell myself we are not going to spend money on stupid things, I'll actually mean it. I am one to needs to learn to be happy with what they have.
I watched the Notebook last night. *sigh* Ryan Gosling is a cutie, especially when he is all scruffy! Anyway, that is officially my fav romantic movie. Oh, and here is a shocker, J watched it with me, he told me that I shouldn't cry because then he does!

Satin sheets are fabulous and it doesn't take much to keep them in check. Just slide them right back where they belong.  ;)

On many vitamins, you'll notice a line in the center. This is where they are meant to be cut so you can take half during the day and half at night. These vitamins contain too many nutrients for your body to absorb all at once, so it's more effective if you cut them in two. Or so I hear.  ::)
Also, I wouldn't accept Dr. Oz's word as the gospel since he's been dead wrong on occasion.

My duvet has a satin sheen to it, so at night my husband complains that I steal the covers, but really they slid off and when he grabs it and pulls it back up, he pulls the wrong side and in the morning I ahve to turn everything around! LOL
I don't watch or do anything he says religously, but this I decided to try.

Today I used the BB treatment in the shower after an acv rinse. I mixed the BB with some of my one condtion to make it more manageble. I rinsed it out, but I didn't use my no poo. I am starting to see that I won't have to use the no poo but maybe once or twice a week, just condition the ends everyday. Afterwards I put a few drops of oo on my palms and ran those through the ends of my hair, added gel and viola! My curls look fabulous!

Been in a bit of a cleaning mood. I took all the pillow protectors and matress protectors off and washed them, along with the kids' blankets. I might try to wash a comforter tomorrow and see if my washer will be able to handle it (I have a whirlpool duet, which says it will wash up to a queen sized comforter, but I don't know how well it will wash all the surfaces seeing as it is folded over itself). All I have to do is vacuumm and dust downstairs, clean showers, and put away laundry, repeat in a week! Yes I am a weekly house cleaner. From top to bottom! I should really do my touch-up painting seeing as I never did it after we moved in in December. I wanted to wait until I had everything the way I wanted so if I could do it all at once.
Anyway, off to bed I go!

Next week is the fair, although I didn't save any money to go  :(, and this will be our first year living up the street from the fairgrounds. I hope the noise isn't too loud, as the carnival is open until midnight. I also hope I have no problem with people parking in front of my driveway. The hassles I guess of living where we do! ::)

Change of plans! I had to hurry and take the boys to the school and register them, so I just sparyed and went! It wasn't too bad, but I haven't looked in the mirror after being outside working in the yard. ;D
Went to get J's bike and it wasn't to be done until 3 p.m. I didn't have anything to do until then, so rather than going home and making another trip to town, I told them I would pick it up another day. Otherwise I have gotten in the rut of feeling I need to get everyhting done around the house, but I feel like there is too much to do.  :( I made a list and stuck it to the fridge, maybe J will see it and do some of the tasks on there, except paint! He is not allowed anywhere near a brush! ::) School starts on September 2, I was feeling sad when I thought of my youngest going to preschool, but then I realized it's only 2 days a week and just in the mornings, so it's not as bad!

Today I put on condition on my ends, then used no poo on my scalp, and added a little more one condition to my ends before rinsing. I did oo on my ends (just slightly), leave in conditioner, and gel, along with moisture lock! Curls are behaving except for those ones like like to flip forward instead of lying correctly. I decided to get some biotin, as Target had 100 pills for $1.40. I figured for that price it couldn't hurt! :) Now I hope I can remember to take everything. ;) I should have looked into a pill sorter for A.M. and P.M. Sometimes I can't remember if I have  already taken my pills.  :-?

Picked up J's bike today. When we dropped it off the guy told me that a tune-up was $45 and that would take care of the missing bolt as well,a nd I asked him that several times. I paid almost $70! :o I was charged $45 for the tune-up, $15 to fix the front flat tire (I told them to use slime, and a bottle of that is at most $8), and $8 for the bolt! I tried explaining to the person that rang me up about what was said when I dropped it off (as they were two different people), but he just looked at me like I was an idiot! >:( I know the bile isn't an expensive one, and could probably come close to buying a new one after paying that bill! See if I ever go there again! I could have used that money to buy my oldest son a larger bike. His legs are too long for the 16" he has been riding around, and the seat and handlebars are up as far as they can go. That just makes me so mad, I already have trust issues, and things like this don't help. :-/
We went to Costco today, and one of the smaple ladies was just plain rude to my boys, so I made it a point to tell my mom is just me was she kind of rude to the kids, within hearing distance. There kids lady, not to mention 3 active boys, get over it. I can;t make them walk around and be quiet and do everything right, unless I use shock collars and duck tape (sounds great for the husband at times though, "hunny I'm leaving for a meeting" ZAP "what was that? My MIL called me and told me that when those things catch on fire, they have a tendency to explode! :o I am listening to the scanner and they have people on the roof, etc.. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers everyone.
It turns out that my husband was finishing up his Rope Rescue class when his pager went off for the fire. He was there and he was inside the siloh, and I am happy to say that he came home, as did everyone else. :) Although I'm not sure what time, I waited until midnight, and then I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. We had another Law Enforcement agency come in and set up the standby area, and they were talking about evacuating areas! J is there doing some investigation work to see if they can find out what caused the fire.

Hair Not sure if I am going to condition my ends today, or just spray with lavander mist. I have been taking a multi, 1200 mg fish oil, and 1000 mcg biotin. I take 1/2 multi, 1 fish oil softgel, and 1 biotin in the morning. Before dinner I take the other half of my multi and another softgel of fish oil. Then 3 hours after eating I take my prescribed meds and wait 30 minutes before lying down. I will give the fish oil 30 days and see how that is working before I decide about taking 2 softgels 2x a day.

Other I believe I will have to call Tuesday and tell the dermatologist I need to increase my meds to 2x a day. :( My breakouts are still happening full force. J and I have to go pickup the new T-shirts for the QRU. Can't say I like them all that well, but that's what happens when you put guys in charge of ordering things like that and making decisions about logo style, etc..

Yesterday at the store they had samples of an organic pumpkin flax granola cereal. I was shocked when my boys tried it and liked it! So I bought some at a whopping $7 a box!  :o I figured it's better than the sugar cereals they have been eating, and I have been trying to buy organic when I can if the price isn't to much. Now if I can only get J to stop drinking pop and kool-aid, and start working out with me!

I just sprayed hair today, and added a little oo to ends, and pinned up my sides. my clips I won off ebay are here! I thought it would atke much longer seeing as they were coming from Hong Kong! They are heavier than I thought they would be. I can't wait to have longer hair so I can use them! My bonnet dreyer also finally came! I emailed the seller and aksed if it had already shipped a while ago, and I never recieved an answer back! It took almost three weeks to get and the description said 2-9 days! I haven't tried it yet because I have yet to get a deep conditioning treatment. I think I am going to try and avoid trims in a salon unless I start to see damaged ends. Even then it would have to be alot, that I couldn't take care of myself.
My weight issues really bothered me today. It's the first time I felt like shutting myself in and not going anywhere. Having shorter hair on my frame doesn't help either. Just another of my insecurities I have yet to deal with. I don't feel as big as I am, but when I look in the mirror I can see the weight I have gained! I need to find some exercises I can do that won't make my arthritis bad.

When you say oo, does that stand for olive oil?
Also, in exercises that are simple and fun, may I recommend Winsor Pilates? If you get the bun and thigh sculpting DVD and the ab sculpting DVD (both 15-20 minute workouts) you will be set.
Otherwise there is always Mari Winsor's book :)
Anyway love the stories in here hehe

OO does stand for olive oil.
I did try Winsor Pilates, unfortunately it was really hard on my legs. I have really bad osteoarthritis in my knees. I had to have my knee caps removed because they kept dislocating, and I still have problems with my legs going out from under me while I am walking. :( It has been a little while, but the last time I wasn't far from my house any where my tibia/fibula meets my femur dislocated for a brief second, and thankfully came back together! :o I also managed to step on my ankle sideways! I think I need to join an exercise class for senior citizens, as I think many of those do low impact.
Thanks for suggesting it though. :)

Hair Conditioned my ends today. I actually left the one conditio in for 30 minutes under a shower cap. This time I left out the oo, not sure why, just didn't feel like putting it in. I noticed those hairs that don't like to conform with the rest of the curls, I call 'em fuzzies. Continiung the multi (1/2 @ a time), fish oil (1 2x day), and biotin (1/ daily in mornings w/ breakfast).

Skin is looking better. Been washing in mornings and nights w/ cetaphil facial cleanser. In mornings I use the sunblock, and at nights I use the regular lotion after my topical meds. I have some red marks left where a breakout used to be, and I usually heal fast from those. I guess I am really lucky that I really don't scar, but this round is worse, so I don't know how I'll fair from this.
Nothing exciting going on, just working. I'm trying to get the QRU ready for the fair next week.

I hate when things take awhile to dawn on me but something just did. I know for a fact that there is a brand of cereal that makes organic cereals targeted for kids. And I know that they are also cheaper then $7 a box. If you have an organic/natural section in your grocery store you should look for them. I think the brand is Nature's Path (not sure) but I know they have animals on the boxes and that they have kid cereal names. Just trying to save you a few bucks without having to sacrifice nutrition.  8-)

Thanks Tanai and Skyfire, I'll keep a look out for those. I know Fred Meyer carries organics, and Albertsons started carrying some too. I don't have a Trader Joes though. I know Costco even carries a bit of organic products as well.
I really like the cereal though! I might have to keep it for myself and buy the boys another organic cereal.

I bought a Wii Fit today. Whoa, I am out of shape :o. My back has been hurting me all day, and the Wii Fit helped a little. I am going to try and use it everyday. I have yet to go on a bike ride.
Went clearence shopping today. I got some 18" metal barn stars painted like the American flag reg. 7.99 on sale for .79! A few shirts for $4 each, and some other left over Fourth of July decorations for cheap (package of 6 or 8 bows in the flag print reg. 2.99 for .29 and some garland for .19). My house is decorated in an Americana/ Primitive theme, and I do my Christmas tree in Americana as well.

I was thinking of buying a Wii Fit. Once you use it a bit more, I'd love to know your opinion of it.

I will let you know!  ;)

Going to condition the ends today.
Oh, my poor back. I hope I don't have a kidney infection! :P As it hurts on either side, right around that area. Look what happens when I start drinking the 6-8 glasses of water a day, I get a kidney infection! I knew water was bad for you! LAMO I'm going back to sodas! Jk, but really owwwwy! I guess I need some cranberry juice.
Still getting things ready for the fair. I haev been neglecting my house cleaning and now I finally must do laundry! Ugh, I also need to look into getting a new furnace filter, as mine has been in for 6 mo. and I can tell it's time to change when the dust starts to really show up, even though I dust everything once a week and I actually suck the dust up with my vacuum. Seems to work better than swirling it around with a cloth and in the air only to deposit right back on the furniture. By doing that I have also cut back on allergies for the boys.
Anyway, I am off to meet my trainer. It's a darn good thing she can't hear me, she wouldn't like what I tell her! LOL Maybe I should have went with the guy trainer!

Conditioned the ends and left it on while I used no poo to wash scalp. Then applied oil, very little amount of gel, and set it free mist. Hair once again looks brilliant! Lats night I did however notice that when I itched my scalp, my fingernails had something under them, and this morning, even though I washed my scalp, I seem to have dandruff or soemthing. I am not surewhat this is attributed to, maybe I need to do a vinegar rinse? My scalp wasn't, and usually isn't, really itchy. It only gets that way when I don't wash my scalp for a while. I need to solve the mystery fast, as I hate to have nice curls and people seeing the grody stuff in my hair.

I'll be working Wednesday night at the fair with J. Since nobody could take that shift. I hope J doesn't get too tired, as the shift is from right around the time he gets off to midnight, and he has to get up and work at 5 a.m. the next morning. All this after working a 12 hour shift prior. Not to mention fair days are busy with problems!
My Mom and Dad came and took the boys early this mornig out to breakfast and for rides on the four wheeler. J and I went on quite a bike ride while they were gone. Oh, my poor knees and legs! I have worked out for three days in a row now and my abs (where ever they may be hiding) are sore, and after biking my legs feel like jello when I walk. I sure hope this helps me to lose some weight! I need to find a new bike seat, as the original one on the bike gets lost under my big booty, and the one I bought to replace it doesn't have the banana part in between the legs, but a wider seat, and i constantly feel like I am slipping off and having to scoot myself back on. I don't dare try to stand and pedal for fear my legs will dislocate.

I had some issues with my scalp when using the no poo all the time.  I started using the low poo and that, along with oil scalp massage before I wash has really stopped the gunk.  The no poo is so moisturizing I think it makes it hard for the dead skin to wash off.  Also, make sure you are really, really rinsing after washing with no poo.

I have dry skin allover, so I get itchy.  I would do the acv rinses anyway because I want my conditioner to penetrate my hair and it makes it shiney.  Then, I use it to keep from getting itchy.

Thanks Sakina! I am thinking of ordering more one condition, and may have to try the low poo instead of the no poo. I just have so darn much of no poo left, I hate for it to go to waste, but I also hate to have this problem all the time.
I think I'll do a vinegar rinse in the morning.

You're welcome.  I also have quite a bit of no poo in my shower.  I keep it to use once in awile.  You might find you need it in the winter, when you've got the furnace running.  I live in Arizona, so I'll just use it to shake things up a bit.

LOL yeah, I don't suppose you have the winters we have here! I have been to AZ, I was in Jr. High and my Dad was taking some college classes. He was part of the Business Professionals of America at the College here and they had some compitetions in AZ, so for a vaca my Mom and I went along. It was fun. We went white water rafting, etc.. I also saw Charles Barkly at a gas station! The only thing was the heat! I would hate to be stuck with no AC when the power goes out!

Hair I ordered a small bottle of Low Poo and a big bottle of One Condition last night. My hair is doing really well, and I am going to do an acv rinse today before conditioning to see if I can get more of that crud out of my hair. Other than that I am still continuing my vitamins, fish oil and biotin.

I am surprised that my legs aren't sore from my bike ride yesterday! I have been using the Wii fit every morning. I really like it! I don't know how much of a workout it would be for someone that is pretty much already fit, but they might have an easier time with it in the beginning than me. I really like the yoga. :)
Fair starts Wednesday, and I in no way feel ready! :P I have to go pick up some printer ink so I can get everyone a packet with the information and tickets. Tuesday we have to go pick up the mule atv that is being donated for us to use. We always add lights and a siren to amke people move! I guess the QRU/EMS sign on the front isn't enough!  ::)
We have a basement w/ bathroom in our house and of course there is a sump pump in the basement. It is hidden behind a panel in one of the bedroom closets. I ventured down there to help the boys get ready for bed and when I stepped in the closet the carpet was WET! :o So, I figured the sump pump wasn't working and it flooded the area. Come to find out my littlest boy had an accident earlier while trying to get a shirt down to wear. ::) Oh man, I really hated cleaning that up, specially because my carpet cleaner isn't working like it should. I need to add some white vinegar to some hot water, and go back over it with the carpet cleaner. The vinegar should help make the carpet 1. softer and 2. help dissolve any smell that's left.

I talked to my DH about it and he said he was thinking about getting our daughter a Wii for xmas.  I asked him if he would get me the 'fit, and he looked shocked and said he couldn't get his wife a fitness thing, it would be implying I was fat.  I just rolled my eyes.  I think this might be his way of throwing me off the trail. ;D

LOL, that's funny Skyfire! My husband would never think about it before he bouht it for me. I usually have to say what I think his actions or words imply before he understands that it probably wasn't the best thing! ;D

Hair: Going to condition the ends today. Vinegar rinse helped, but there are still some little specks. Hopefully they'll work themselves out. Wednesday I'll have to use the sun shield spray that ouidad sent me, as I am sure the atv mule we will be driving, won't have a roof, they usually never do.  ::)

Other: Not looking forward to working Wednesday night. I haven't gone on any emergency calls since I passed the First Responder class. While I did learn everything easily, and I still recall everything when we are reviewing in class (we have to refresh every so often to keep certification), I haven't gone on any calls in almost a year! I am scared I'll have to get on my knees and do CPR, or something else and my kness just can't handle that. That's partly the reason I am working out, in hopes of strengthening them up. The field and the book are two different things!
Had to go to the store again yesterday and they had samples of a carrot, pineapple and whatever else in it. Everyone took a sample, J and I didn't mind it, my oldest and middle hated it, and my youngest LOVED it!  :D He had 4!

I might skip working out today. I was up late (been having problems geting to sleep), and just feel too tired. It may be because after my work out yesterday, I worked my butt off cleaning. But I see this morning it grew back! ;D I don't know if I am ready for tonight or not. It's been really cool as far as weather here the past couple of days. I'm not complaining though, I'll take weather in the 70's rather then the 90's anyday. I'll probably have to take a sweater for tonight, I know I should have yesterday when we drove the mule around delivering everyone's tickets. :o
Oh, and I'll have to remember to take something for allergies. They always act up when I am around the fair. When I was younger the dr advised my parents against taking me to the fair, because every year after going, I would come down with pneumonia.

Hair: Just going to conditon the ends again today. Tomorrow I am going to acv rinse, use the bb avocado treatment, no poo, and one condition. I am trying to set myself a routine for shampooing, acv rinses, and treatments. I always lose track of when I last did them, so if I pick a day, hopefully I'll stick to it. Yesterday, I didn't do the oo in my hair after conditioning before it was dry. It turned out okay, a little "fluffier" on the sides than I would have liked, but I think I'll have to get used to that until they grow longer. I started having a few breakouts around my hair line on the sides, and I am thinking it's attributed to the oil in my hair. Although I didn't go all the way to my scalp with it, my hair is short and it's hard to just get the ends sometimes.
I measured after I had it cut a couple weeks ago(?) and she had cut it all back to 5". I measured a little while after that and came up with 5 1/4" and last night I got 5 1/2"!!!! :D I am soo excited, I hope my hair continues. Maybe the vitamins, fish oil and biotin is really helping!

Never exercise if you feel very tired you can hurt yourself if you're bodies not up to the challenge. It's always wise to listen to it.

:o I wish my hair would grow that fast! Apparently it hasn't grown since I last trimmed it in May but I shall find out next Wednesday if it's started up again. Biotin takes six months for it to work, the first thing I noticed, around that time, is my hair felt thicker and it was growing faster. Probably explains how my hair grew 6" in six months from October to May.  ;D I think fish oil and vitamins take a couple, but depending on any deficiencies you may unknowingly have you may notice them kick in faster.

Thanks Angel Spun.  :) You all are a great inspiration and help, I am definatley glad I found you all! ;)

I decided to work out after all. I am the type of person that if I don't do something repeatedly, I stop all together. Six days in a row, woohoo! :D
I am sure I had a serious deficiency, and while I am trying to eat better and healthier, I think the vitamins have helped. I have been taking them for two months everyday now. The fish oil and biotin probably haven't kicked in yet, but I am glad to see my hair flourishing! Skin has improved, but I am not even close to being rid of everything yet. I called the dr yesterday, and the gal that answered said I am supposed to wait three months, then call if I need to dose up.  >:( That's not what they told me or the pharmacist. The pharmacy gave me 60 days worth of pills because he was under the same impression I was. He said that if I only used one a day, then I would have 2 months supply (insurance only pays for one months worth of pills at a time), if 2 a day, then only one months! I forgot to mention that detail to the dr, not to mention I won't have to call in three months because I have an appt. with him before then. I don't know I may call again and explain what the pharmacy did.
My Mom and Dad took the boys to the fair this afternoon, and they are riding rides! Yay, mommy has some me time!! [smiley=bath.gif] His parents and mine will do a hand off of the kids later, since J and I have EMS duty. I guess I could see it as we have together time, and not working. Hopefully things are quiet. Same here Tanai.

Last night was uneventful *whew*
I help the FD with fill the boot, an event that help raise money for MD. We plan on taking the boys down tonight and having them help.
Did a acv rinse, bb treatment, put one condition on ends and then no poo on scalp. Hair is drying.
I have to take the boys to meet their teachers today and drop off their school supplies.
I got home about 12:30 a.m. and woke up at 3 a.m. wheezing and all stuffed up. I removed the pillow I was sleeping on, covered my hair and took two benedryl (sp?). That helped, except I didn't get up until 10!! :P Anyway, I have a pretty busy day today, so I have to keep it short and sweet!

I didn't work out yesterday or today. My youngest woke me up saying that he wanted medicine, and then preceeded to throw up on my bedroom floor.  :-/ Been up with him since 5 a.m. I think he's ok, I am trying to get him to eat saltines because all that is coming up is acid, but he isn't cooperating. He'll eat popsicles and drink sprite, but it has been coming right back up. :P I was just thinking the other day about how lucky I have been that the kids haven't been sick for quite some time, that shows me to think like that! :( Took the kids to meet their teachers and drop off their school supplies. Then I took my Mom to the fair to walk through the animals and art buildings. It was fun since it was just me and her. I have to run errands today, so my Mom will be over sitting wth the kids. I dont' want to be stuck driving, when my little one is in the back throwing up.
Face is still breaking out  :(. It looked as though it was getting better. I still haven't called the Dr. back. I was thinking of calling the pharmacist to get what he understood first.
Hair turned out great after everything yesterday. Knowing that I was going to the fair again, I added a little oil for a leave in. It seems when I do this I have less frizz later on.
I am going to try and spray with the lavender mist this morning and go on about my day, but if I have too much bed head, I'll have to condition my ends. Haven't seen any sign of the flakys *Hooray*! :)

Try not to let more then a couple of consecutive days slip by between your workouts any more then that and most people tend to lose the momentum they had. And we don't want you to do that.  ;) However I imagine it must be pretty hard to find time for yourself let alone to exercise with three kids running around.  ::) But have no fear... school's starting again.  ;D

Unfortunately, I have to let more than a couple days go by without working out. :( My son is still sick and running a fever.

I was able to just spray my hair yesterday, but today I plan on co the ends.

My healthy eating habits went out the window when the fair came. ::) That's okay though cause when it's gone my eating habits will return.  ;)School starts Tuesday, hopefully my little one is feeling better by then so I can start working out again. The fair has had us running around like crazy! :D Anyways, I re-organized my kitschen cabinets and drawers, just moved some stuff and straightened things up a bit. Feels much better to me. It annoyed J though. ;D

Thanks Tanai, he's finally better today! :) Hopefully the other two don't come down with it. I wiped doorknobs, light switches, really any surface I could down with disenfecting wipes. If the other two do get it, they'll likely miss their first days of school. :-/
Rodeo is finally over at the fair. The past couple times we went, my allergies kicked in instantly, and I think it was from all the dirt being kicked up in the air. :-[ Tonight is the mud bogs, if we go I plan on doisng up on allergy pills. ;D

Hair was plastered to my head yesterday, and I HATED it. I tried jojoba oil instead of oo while hair was still wet. I am going to co ends today, as I finally got a work out in! :) I can def tell I need to keep up with it everyday. I found it hard to do some of it today.

We had a new entrance poured for our driveway awhile back, and the old parking lines still remain, they are pretty faded. So we put cones out where there are no longer parking spaces. Friday night someone took one of the cones! Grr, so of course someone parked where they weren't supposed to. >:( I know they can tell the difference between the old lines and the new ones. They're just plain dumb, and disrespectful!

Yep, I am generally a clean and organizing freak! :D
I'll have to start my workouts back up when the boys go to school tomorrow. Them running around and asking me stuff is kinda distracting. My body is definately craving it, but I just have no time right now!  :(
J and I have to work the fair tonight again. NOT looking forward to it. The wind is blowing and it is like 50 degrees out there. I am sure by the time we get off at midnight it will be even colder! Plus, today is pal day. BUy one ride pass get one free, so the place will be crawling with kids, etc.. I don't think we will be as lucky as we were the first night. ::)

Did an acv rinse, co on the ends, no poo on the scalp, rinsed, and added a little more co to my ends and left it while I finished up, then rinsed with cold water. Leave-in, gel, and moisture lock. Hair is drying as I am typing. Hopefully I will have a better hair day than yesterday! :)

Ugh, it spread! My middle son had it yesterday, the first day of school! :(
Happy to say that for now everyone is healthyand at school, except for my youngest! :) He only goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The scale last night said 190!! In the mornings I usually weigh 194 or so, and in the evenings it has read about 3-4 lbs. more. So, it isn't alot, but it is progress!!!
Going bridal gown shopping with a friend tonight. My fear is that she is going to make me a bridesmaid and put me in a dress! :-[ I am not sure though, her fiance is coming home from Baghdad in less than 30 days, and they are going to move to NY where he is from. I don't know if they plan on marrying her or there, or how intricate of a wedding they plan on having.
I didn't wash yesterday, and I am not going to wash today either. Tomorrow I will do and acv rinse, bb avocado, co on ends the apply no poo. I am really starting to like my natural color, it's so shiny!  8-) It never looked that way before.

Title: Re: Short-Long by livingandlovingx3

Here's a great tip, that'll probably make you hate the scale a little less. Every single person gains roughly 5lbs every day throughout the course of the day, probably food consumption. They say to get your most accurate weight to way yourself first thing in the morning, before you've eaten, after you um... visit la toilette , :-[ and sans clothing that's your true weight. So avoid weighing yourself in the evening because everyone weighs more, it'll only make you grumpy, besides everyone wants to see the lowest weight possible.  ;) It still sounds like you're making progress!  :)

Yeah, I know. I like to see how much I fluxuate in one day though.

Did my rinse with my "flavored" acv. My hair is really soft. Followed by my BB avocado treatment, followed by co on ends and no poo on sclap. Afterwards, I put in my leave in, and sprayed with the moisture lock. I didn't use any gel. I also didn't scrunch my curls, I let them dry loose. When I do this I have bigger curls, if I scrunch my hair I end up with corkscrew like curls. When hair was dry, I put some oo on the ends to help keep them from being frizz. The hair on top is more straight than curly, and the hair on the sides is kinda wavy. The hair twords the neck is where my curliness really shows. I don't know if the other parts are still under the effects of the straight perm or what.

I don't know how bad it looks to everyone around me, but leaving my hair this way actually makes me feel like it's actually growing. If I do it super culry it just shrinks soo much! Maybe I will leave the scrunching for when it is chin length or longer.

Shrinkage is the curse of curls.  Frizzies is a close second, I think.  Its totally normal to have different types of curls on one head.

Your hair looks great, I like the color!

Skyfire, thanks. I am no sure if I like my hair like this or with tighter curls. There is a pic back in the start of my journal that shows my curlier side, and before when I first started growing my hair, before my trim to delete all my bad ends.

Sakina, soo true!

The last inch or so of my hair, red and blonde, is left over from when I colored it. The rest is my natural color. I never liked it before, but I haven't seen my "real" color for a long time.

But that's the cool thing you can make your curls go both ways to suit your mood. Drying straight hair differently still results in just straight hair.  :P

Ever wake up in the morning and you instantly know things aren't going to be good? today is that day, although I have to admit I have alot of those days.
My husband J and I have been together for a total of 10 years, married for 8. Everything in the start was great. I felt loved and wanted, but things have changed in the last 4 years. He is never home, I don't get that feeling of want. I am the one who does everything around my house, and if I ask him to help or do something, he never does it. He is always on the phone, and can't tell anyone but me no. A few months ago he was voted president of the QRU and I wasn't happy and I made it known. He told me that it didn't involve anymore than he already does, and assured me things would change. I should have known better, they never changed any of the other times, so why would it now? I am just tired of being by myself, and feeling so alone. I think having no where to go, and feeling like family would shun me has made me tolerate it. People have told me to get a job and save money so I can leave, but I can't work, I have three kids and daycare alone would cost more than I could ever make. Sometimes I feel like I don't know where I would be without him, but I think that might just come from being with him for so long, and not wanting to be "alone". Everytime I try to talk about my feelings to him, he tells me to knock it off and he doesn't want to hear it. Sorry about my rant, I know it's pretty personal. I just have no other outlet.

(((hugs)))  Ranting is what journals are for!
I've been married 11.5 years.  We don't have kids, and I work minimally.  I'm home by myself a lot and can get really down w/o anybody to talk to.  Not much conversation with my cats!

I think you should go away for a weekend.  He might start to appreciate you if he has to take care of the kids.

Perhaps you can find a class to take to get you out of the house and interacting w/others in something fun.  Our parks & rec has really great classes that are very affordable.

Swimming is joint friendly, as is an elliptical machine.  Exercise always lifts your spirits, and you can find a way to accomodate your particular challenges.

Thanks Sakina.
I think part of mt problem is that I just need to go and get back on some meds. I was diagnosed with bipolar type two about 4 years ago. I really only tried one medication and I hated my Dr. so I discontinued. I am usually ok, and I can recoginize my mood swings, but I have trouble with the spending and rapid thoughts running through my head. It's not like I spend money on stupid stuff, I will go grocery shopping and see something that wasn't on my list and think I have to have that or I might get home and find that I need it ( I won't ). I also tend to think people are talking about and looking at me, when they really aren't. The other thing is I have to check and see if I locked my car a few times, or locked my house cause I can't remember. My only problem is I really hate talking to some random person about why I am like this, there are just some things I can't tell even my parents. Plus insurance only pays 50% of outpatient mental health services. Ugh, and then we are so close to the end of the year that in order to stay on the meds I would have to continue next year and that mena starting over with the deductible which is oh, only 2,000 per person!!!!! I really am not crazy, I just have several bad days! ;D
I would love to go away on a little vaca, but right now money is super tight and there is no one to take care of the boys.

(((hugs))) :-/ Ooh hunnay you sound like you need marriage counseling and a hobby. :-X I'm absolutely not an expert on anything marriage related seeing as I've never been married. But you do seem to have communication issues. And you do have to remember the relationship is no longer just the two of you, you're kids will be heavily impacted by whatever descision you make. I know how you feel about the talking to a random person thing I can't do it either so maybe I'll just shut up about that.  :-[ However if you're bored out of your brains a hobby that you could do at home might be something worth looking into. And yes I know loneliness really is all it's cracked up to be. I know I'm in that boat myself, and it actually feels more like a rubber dingy to me.  :-/  :'(

That's my problem too, however I believe that particular behavior may be linked more to low self esteem then an actual medical condition. Confidence certainly is hard to come by. Anyone know where it's being sold?  :-[ :-/

Thanks Trisha.  :)
Yep, I am still here, I pop in every now and again. I've just been rather busy lately. I started having pain and swelling in my elbow, and then it moved down to my wrist. I've had tests and an MRI, only to show that I could have gout, and there is no tumor or cyst there. Monday I got the enjoyment of having a shot of cortisone in my tendon!  :o OUCH! I have to say it felt better before the shot, at least I could hold a pencil anyway.
Hair has been doing well. I bought some of Deva Curl's deep treatment and my hair seems to love it! Sometimes I use heat, sometimes I don't. I think I might have to use it 2x a week though. Using it on Mondays after a ACV rinse just don't seem to be cutting it. I also bought their pomade, I forget the name. I like it, but it leaves my hair feeling greasy the next day, and not being able to go with out washing. It hasn't really grown any. I had to have my neck trimmed up, as it looked as if I was trying to grow a mullet! I am starting to be able to pull the sides back, and wear a headband, which gives me hope. You know I always thought that hair grows faster or better in the summer, but I think mine is the opposite. Thinking back, it always seemed to do better in the winter. :-?
I have to say that with everything going on in the economy, we are feeling the belt tighten. Food prices are rising, so we thought that shopping in our small little town would help. Boy were we wrong! It's 7 miles give or take to a larger town and cheaper prices! Believe me what we would use in gas, wouldn't even add up to what we would be saving by driving those 7 miles! :o  I paid $6.89 for a 4 pound jar of peanutbutter and here it is over $10! Add that up for multiple items and I could actually save money by driving!!!!!

Cool, I'm a winter grower too.  :)

Everybody's feeling the squeeze of the economy right now. And the sucky thing is that there's just too much greed out there to do anything about it.  >:(

Glad to see you're still with us I was getting worried when you suddenly disappeared.

We're all hanging in there. The world's not exactly turning good for any of us right now.  >:(
