My hair is just grazing the tops of my knees :o  and now that its summer I wold like to go swimming...but do you think I could get all that hair in a swim cap? maybe if I use 2? I would like to use a cap for swimming in pools at least...I dont think I would need one in the ocean, if it would even stay on.  What do y'all do for swimming?

Finding a cap to handle your amount of hair could be difficult.  You might find a latex type cap that is stretchy enough to pull over a bun.  Look where they sell caps for competitive swimmers - those are the most flexible.

When I swim, I try to protect my hair with oil or conditioner if swimming in open water.  I start by wetting my hair with fresh water, then apply oil or conditioner, and braid it.  When done swimming, rinse with fresh water.

When swimming in a pool, they usually don't appreciate the oils or conditioners in the water, but I will make sure my hair is at least rinsed with fresh water first, apply oil or a small amount of conditioner, braid my hair, then put the braid in a bun and cover that with a plastic bag, covered by a latex or spandex cap. (Spandex caps don't keep the water out, but it does keep the hair from coming loose.)  And of course, I rinse it all when done.

Personally, I don't use swim caps. I really don't see how putting rubber/latex anywhere near my hair would be a good thing.  :o  I would just braid my hair, then drench myself in the showers at the beach or pool, then take to the water.
   If I was going to the beach, I might add just a teensy amount of oil to my hair before braiding it. But I absolutely would not use oil before swimming in a pool. I have far too much respect for the water and the people who maintain it - it's a lot of work.

Swim caps might not accommodate the amount of hair that you have anyway. But if you do end up using one, please remember to rinse well in the showers at the beach or pool before and after swimming. You'll save your skin and the water that way. Cheers!

I have soooo much difficulty getting swim caps on my head, I can't imagine trying to get it over hair that was knee length.  I go with the fresh water rinse.

yeah i do think be fresh water rinse is the best for the pool  but I am usually at the beach  8-) I typical use jojoba oil on my hair for oiling. What oil do yall use for swimming?
