Title: Sky's Place Post by sky on Mar 5th, 2008 at 1:07pm
Well, I guess it's time to start my journal!
I joined here over a year ago, when my hair was at about 17". Yesterday DH measured it at 25". Nice!!! I'm a Wurly Girl, w/ hair that is between wavy and curly. Depending on how I handle it, it can be fairly straight w/ loose waves or nearly curly, w/ old-fashioned corkscrew curls at the tips. 2c/3a it is. And with a mind of its OWN! I just go w/ the flow from day to day and never try to change its mind about a thing. That's way too unrewarding. ;D I began WO a long time ago, but I've been doing CO for quite a while now, although I did have to shampoo once or twice because of disasters. Mainly "oil" spills! ;D Turns out my hair simply will not tolerate the slightest bit of oil w/o sulking. CO will not remove the oil, so I have had to shampoo it out. Other than that, I've been CO all the way. I have been using Jessicurls.com Too Shea conditioner and really like it. But my scalp seems to be experiencing technical difficulties...... ::) Just ordered some WEN conditioner and I am eager to try it! I ordered a small bottle of all 5 "flavours", and am hoping that the Tea Tree will help spiff up my scalp. I detest the odour of Tee Tree oil, so I'll just have to see how bad it smells. Not much for photos. I have taken three so far.....January 3, 2007 (17 inches), June 14, 2007 (20 inches) and January 1, 2008 (23 1/2 inches). Plan is to photo every six months. Predictably, I went from "triangle head" to "triangle on shoulders" to "it's beginning to look long". I dunno, it just never FEELS long! Even though this is about the longest I've ever had it, it still feels not long. Have had two trims and now have a LOT of split ends, but am reluctant to have another trim. I was off cones for a long time, and recently began using again. Cones just make my hair SO nice! Can't really see that they do any damage, and the ends demand it. Tried using Too Shea as a leave-in, and it's too sticky for that. Wondering about BSL.....see folks rejoicing at that goal and wonder, what is it? Where is it? Is it the same on everyone? Couldn't be, given variations in peoples' figures......wonder where it is on me? Good thing I don't have that as a goal. Having a helluva time reading this wimpy gray on lavender! Played around to get something bigger, bolder and w/ more contrast. Kinda like this! :) Wish it was sticky, but it's probably not.....hafta store it. Well, this is a good start....more later. sky |

Gee, you all make me feel SO welcome!
Thanks! My WEN arrived today and I am all a-dither as to which one to use first! Should it be the Tea Tree? The Fig? That one smells delish! Or the Sweet Almond Mint, Cucumber & Aloe or the Lavender? Oh, decisions, decisions! ;D sky |

FINALLY got to use my first WEN. Went for the Cucumber & Aloe, as it is for "oily scalp and dry hair". Jeeze, I've bin busy! Worked for two days translating a Gaidhlig reading assignment, interspersed w/ working on my forum and tending to my Travian village. Whew! It's hard work having so much fun. ;D
Don't exactly have the oily scalp, but the hair closest to my scalp is in much better condition, so I reason it must have more sebum in it than do the tips. It's still drying, so I won't be able to tell much until maybe tomorrow morning. I read the label and it has cones in it, so if you want to be cone-free, beware. The aroma was a bit strange.....not unpleasant, but not cucumber. I have no idea what aloe smells like....when I use the gel I never smell any aroma at all. But my wet hair smells nice and clean. And the cones did make the hair nice and slippy. ;) sky |

I liked the way the WEN Cucumber & Aloe made my hair feel yeserday. I was too busy to play w/ it much, but the tips are very moisturized! They actually feel very much as do the hairs close to the scalp.
So, I think it's a good WEN. ;D sky |

I used the WEN Cucumber & Aloe a second time today. I thought that the recommended amount was too much, so I used only ten pumps of the bottle, and did not add any for leave-in. The results were pretty much the same, so at least I can save on the expense a wee bit. ;)
And, it might be too soon to really tell, but I think I'm in LUV! sky |

I am luvin this WEN! Still on the Cucumber & Aloe. Gave the Lavender to DH.....don't care for lavender, and it's in EVERYTHING! Like mushrooms. ::) Now his hair feels wonderful, too.
I need new toys! Lost my fave beak clips....can't find 'em at all! Gotta find new toys. Is it Ficcare time? Hmmmm......... Braided my hair for bed for the first time a couple days ago....that was strange, but kept the Tangle Beast at bay. My braid actually lays down over my shoulder in front! :o And it has the cutest little curl on the end. :-* Had my hair in a high pony and just twisted it around my finger and got a beautiful long curl! WHY couldn't this have happened when I was in high school and it freakin' mattered? Coulda given those cheerleaders some stuff! ;D sky |
