Okay all you vegetarians and vegans:  would any of you like to share your tofu recipes?  Purdee puh-leez?   :)

I am not vegetarian, however, my hubby's Indonesian and they eat tofu often.  His favorite is deep fried tofu with kecap manis.  Kechap manis (pronounced ketchup mah-niece) is a thick, sweet soy sauce special to Indonesian cuisine.  If you have some asian ethnic food grocery stores you might find it locally or try the internet.  We prefer ABC brand.

Hi Trisha!  Here somethings I do with Tofu.  I make baked tofu:  I slice up a block, put it on a cookie sheet dribble Tamari sauce on it and bake till its firm.  I also make a eggwhite omlette stuffed with onions and little cubes of tofu.

One of my favorites and I made it tonight for C and me is BBQ Tofu.  Put alittle EVO or grapeseed oil in a pan,let it heat up,use extra firm tofu sliced length wise and place in pan.  Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, paprika and chilli powder.  Put your favorite BBQ saude on each slab of tofu.  Let it cook on medium heat for a few minutes and then fill them.  Repeat on the other side.  Enjoy!!

Hi Sir Rat :)

Tofu is made by coagulating soy milk, and then pressing the resulting curds into blocks. There are many different varieties of tofu, including fresh tofu and tofu that has been processed in some way. Tofu has very little flavor or smell on its own, so it can be used either in savory or sweet dishes, and is often seasoned or marinated to suit the dish.

Sorry  I didn't get back to you,Sir Rat!  Lisabelle was gracious enough to explain(thanks, sweetie!)
Tofu will take on whatever you ar cooking with it,a beautiful thing!  There's extra firm, firm, silken and a few different flavors that some manufacturer's have added to spice things up.  If you ever have a chance to try some recipes or have it in a restaurant, explore and enjoy!! ;)
