Title: Wanting to sell my collection, but need to know...
Post by CrowningGloryTori on Jan 11th, 2008 at 12:40pm
if I am allowed to do so. Can I sell my collection on e-bay and use the names of the stix, or even say they are Longlocks? I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Thank you!

They are perfect and beautiful, but I don't ever wear them because I get headaches.

Also, could you recommend what I should sell them for. I have five sets. Please let me know if this post offends anyone and I will remove it asap.

UPDATE:::  [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

After taking out my collection and admiring it for a little while, I have decided to keep it after all. They are just too beautiful to sell. I don't know what I will do with them, but even just looking at them is fun. I keep them stored in a mirrored glass box, but I think I might have my husband make a display case for them that hangs on the wall, so I can see them everyday, but also accessible if I chose to wear them. He has been looking for something to make.

Thank you for all the kind words here and please forgive me for changing my mind.  [smiley=undecided.gif]

Gee,sorry to hear about the headaches :(  I forwarded your message to Rapunzel to see if it is ok(with the name and all on e-bay).
I have seen once; LongLocks stix being sold on e-bay,but I'm sure the person wasn't as considerate as you as to ask and not want to "step on toes".
Thanks for your consideration and thoughtfulness!

Tori, you are an absolute *treasure* for asking!

Not only may you sell them on eBay, but you may say that *I* approved the sale in your eBay description, and that I would be happy to verify their authenticity.  Before you do that though, let me suggest that you first offer them to the LongLocks Collectors Club members by posting them on this board (if you tell me the names of your designs or write me using the "Contact Us" link so we can discuss it, we may even be able to arrange to have the original photos posted).  And because you were so incredibly thoughtful to ask, I will even mention them in our next LongLocksNews and Collectors Club newsletters with a link to this board, if you like!

Hi,

Wow, and thank you so much!!  I just want to do what is right. I know how unique and beautiful your work is and although some may try to duplicate, they will never come close. Your pieces are true works of art!!

My hairstixs are actually listed in the collectors posting, showing a picture of each one of them and I believe it also has the name of each one ( maybe not). But I would be happy to send pictures to anyone that may be interested here before I put them on e-bay. I would actually feel better doing that because I know they would be treasured the way they should be, by a real collector.

If anyone is interested they may feel free to e-mail me an offer and I will send pictures., or they can look at them here under the collection post with my name.  They don't have to sell as a set, I will sell individually as well.

Thank you again,

Tori

Don't worry about changing your mind - I think we all appreciate the beauty of the LongLocks hairsticks - even when they are not in our hair!  As you can tell from my avatar, I've made a Christmas Tree out of my sticks.  I leave it out all year.  It lets me enjoy their artistic beauty all the time.

Enjoy your sticks however you want.  :)

I think that's a lovely idea!   :)

Oh, you are just too sweet for words!  :)

I have a suggestion that might help you with the headaches!  You might want to try only putting some of your hair up instead of all of your hair.  This may keep enough weight off your head to eliminate the pain (which I used to get all the time when I was a teenager but grew out of as I got older, else LongLocks might never exist!).  Check out the HairStyles Library at the following link for some ideas:

Believe it or not, I've had several people over the years who had short hair buy my designs just to display them!  I remember one woman who had very short hair who actually bought a couple dozen pairs and displayed them in a lit cabinet in a crystal vase.  I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions about how to enjoy them even when you aren't wearing them.  I am glad you've decided to keep them tho... my husband insists that in 50 years someone will walk into Antiques Roadshow with my designs and they'll say, "Do you KNOW what you have???"  LOL!  Personally I think he's dreamin' but you never know, do you?  :D

Hmmm...I've never thought about that. I will try putting only some of my hair up and see how that works.  I just had my hair layered a little bit ( it still reaches my elbows though), but maybe just that little will help. I get headaches when I wear a ponytail for too long also. I'm tiny, only 5'1, 93 lbs, so maybe I just have too much hair, but I refuse to cut it.

And Susan, I think your husband is probably right!!

Considering how the stock market is in the pits - I'm HOPING my LL collection will fund my retirement!  ;D
