Title: When I feel like cutting my hair off I... Post by Sakina on Jan 9th, 2008 at 7:25pm
watch the movie Practical Magic so I get excited again about growing my hair long and then I get over the urge to cut. Sometimes I have to watch the movie several days in a row to make the urge go away, though. Watching The Moulin Rouge also helps me.

Ooo, this is a good thread, Sakina! I've been battling the urge, on and off, to cut for a couple of months now. :( Good "hair" movies such as the ones you mentioned are always helpful. Long hair sightings also help me a lot. And you know what else would help? If people commented more on my hair. Every time our secretary at work compliments my hair I get inspired.

When I feel like cutting my hair off, I remind myself how much money, time, effort, etc. has gone into growing my hair to its current length. Certainly, I wouldn't want all of my precious resources to go to waste, so the hair stays. :)

I think of all of the time that it will take for it to grow back and that kills the urge. Although, I haven't had an urge to cut it all off in quite a long time.

Latetly I've been "frustrated" with my hair and have considered a major cut. But then I think about having to style my hair every day, arrange for hair cuts, how ucky it would look after biking and the I realize my long hair is what works best for me. :)

Cool! Thank you all for sharing.
I'm with you, Trisha, on the complementing issue. I rarely get complements, but I got a nice one yesterday and I'm still smiling about it. And glad I didn't get it cut too soon. I was getting trims every 12 weeks, and now will have gone 5 months before my next trim. I was afraid with having textured hair that my ends look dry so quickly that it would look better with regular 3 month trims but I guess I worried for nothing. Now maybe I'll try for 6 months in between. As long as I keep up with oiling the ends, deep treats and S & D -ing I think I'll make it. Its been very slow to see results in my length trimming every 3 months, and I don't want to be a long hair with dried out, split & broken and frizzy ends. Yuck! |

I would love to compliment each and every long haired lady I see but there are times when it would not be a good idea or appropriate.
And, I have to admit there have been times when a compliment would be great timing but I just flat out chicken out doing it ::) But, out of the 8 or 9 compliments I have given face to face they have all turned out good and I could see on the faces of most of them that the compliment was well received 8-) I would say I have given more compliments on the interent than anywhere else but I guess that is just kind of the easy wey out :P Jerry |
