Title: Ingredient resource? Post by Tara on Oct 9th, 2007 at 10:26am
I have been wanting to research what effects some things might have on hair, like sugars, milks, oils, all different things, but what I wanted to know was if anyone knew of a resource like say a website where someone has already experimented to see the effects of certain things on hair, so that I could potentially choose hair ingredients knowing what effect they will have on hair. I hope that doesn’t sound too confusing.
Does anyone know of a resource area to give such information? |

I'd like to see a website like that as well. Off the top of my head, I can't think of one. Most of the things I've learned as come from visiting hair websites and reading about what worked/didn't work for people. But since people's hair reacts differently to the same thing, sometimes ya just gotta try and see if it'll work for you or not.
BikerBraid had a really good list of hair care ingredients and what they do, except I can't remember what part of the forum it's in. If I find it I'll post a link to it. Oh, Anais Satin has a good site and some of it includes information about various oils. She used to post a lot here, but I think now she's a mod on the Hair Boutique forums. I'll post again if I find a website or thread that has what you might be looking for. |

I admit, I don't know where Bikerbraid's thread it anymore. However, I did find this one website: http://www.geocities.com/hotsprings/4266/gloss.html. I'm not sure if you've already seen it, but it has a huge glossary of hair product ingredients (both chemical and herbal). I can't vouch for the rest of the site because it kind of pushes salon products and I didn't look at every section, but the page I linked to seems like a good resource.
Because there's so many things in the glossary, you might want to read about the items you're interested in and then google that. It might give you more accurate results. Let me know if there's anything in particular I might be able to help you with. |
