Title: NFL football
Post by Jerry on Aug 19th, 2007 at 11:06pm
This is my very first topic at this forum ;)

I am a Denver Broncos fan and I know bikerbraid is a Minnesota Vikings fan 8-)

If there are any other NFL fans here what are your favorite teams?

Jerry

Hi, Jerry. We have the Lambs (Rams), but I am a fair weather fan at best. I am more into baseball.

I grew up in Dallas during the 70's.  If you are an...ahem, experienced football fan you know there IS only one team mine could be.

You know why Texas Stadium has a hole in the roof, right?

So God can watch his team.

They are building a new stadium now.  In Arlington, of all places, which to me kind of negates the "Dallas" part.  And what's God gonna do?

But actually, I can't stand football, which for a texan is like saying you can't stand chili, your mama, or the Alamo.

;D LOL!  That is like my hubby's brother, who lives in Wisconsin.... and is a VIKINGS fan!  :o  Living in Wisconsins and not being a Packer fan is like saying you don't love your mother! ;)

My hubby is a tried & true Lions fan.  We live in Arizona now, moved here from Michigan and usually go see the Lions when they're playing in Tempe.

I am not a fan of football, however, I love to watch him watch the games 'cause he gets soooo excited.  Its really funny.

The 2007 season has started and there are some surprises and some dissapointments so far.

The Broncos are 2-1 but I fear they will be 2-2 after playing the Colts ::)

But, so far I would say the Houston Texans are the surprise team so far ::)

And as much as I hate to admit it, the Cowboys are doing great so far (3-0) but in my opinion they have not played a real team yet ::)

The Vikings defense has been pretty good - just wish the offense would get their act together consistenty.  Childress seems to still be coaching a college team - he needs to realise this is supposed to be a pro team.

The Lambs are 0-something. Look for 0-16 this year. The Bluzers
(Blues hockey) may win a game before the Lambs.

Gee, maybe the Cardinals may win a game before the Lambs, and they don't play again till April 08! ::)

The Vikings did look good.  Sunday's game was fun to watch - now if we only had a quarterback that could last a whole game.  :P

I don't like anything coming from Boston, especially the Red Sox, or as I call them EVIL EMPIRE #2. (Yankees are evil empire #1).

I wanted Indy to kick their rears 42-0, but that didn't happen. Lambs are 0-8. The Cards still may win a game before the Lambs. I no longer watch football. Instead I read off-season baseball articles mainly revolving around the Evil Empires. A-Rod is a ninnie. I don't want him signing here. I don't want Schilling, either. Bring back Ekstein. At least he doesn't have that attitude where he thinks he's better than the rest.

It looks like the Lambs and the Dolphins are going for the worst team in the league (for those that might not know, both of them are 0-8 so far) ::)

Oh well, if I remember right every team has had at least one or two bad seasons?

The Lambs are very good or very awful. There has never been an in-between.

But they won a game today!  ;D Wonders never cease. :P

It would have been nice if the Vikings had shown up for their game against the Packers.  >:(

I am about giving up on the Broncos so I will go for my second favorite team for the rest of the season which are the Steelers ::)

And now they have won three games 8-)

But, do you think we will have a winless team (Miami Dolphins) and a lossless team (New England Patriots) this season?  That would be a first for the current day NFL :o

Jerry

Title: Re: NFL football
Post by rodent on Dec 8th, 2007 at 11:49pm
I don't know about a winless team, but I certainly HOPE the patriots lose a couple. Ironic twist: the dolphins are the only 17-0 team ever. Now 0-16?

Title: Re: NFL football
Post by Jerry on Dec 9th, 2007 at 8:06am
I am hoping the Patriots do win all of their games including the playoffs and the superbowl ::)    They are one of those teams I can't help but like  8-)

The regular season is over and I think the playoffs are going to be very interesting ::)

The Broncos didn't make it but the Steelers did :-/

Robin, it is too bad the Broncos bumped the Vikings out ::)   Maybe next season for both teams.

I was pretty dissapointed to see the Steelers go down to the Jaguars so I will go with the Patriots all the way ::)

I don't care who wins as long as it is NOT Boston. Or they call themselves New England now...Still Boston to me. Boston this. Boston that. I'm tired of Boston.

Maybe a little mad over 2002 Super bowl and 2004 World series? Uh HMMM. maybe. 8-) Can Babe Ruth muster another 87 year curse?

I left the bar and the steelers were winning 29-28 after 2 blown 2 point conversions. Looks like a bad call since two extra points would have won it for them.

Not to worry, I'm not a steelers fan, either.

Missouri got passed on a decent bowl game this year. They were #1 going to the last week and got kapuuted by OK. THey were demoted to #6 but Kansas was ranked lower and got the better bowl. Time for a basketball type playoff for the BCS bowls. Popularity rankings are outdated.  :P

I don't know why but I can't get into college sports even though my wife and I did go to a college football game when a co-worker of mine gave me tickets to see the game (it was a game in a town about a 100 miles from us and not one of the big games they show on the networks on tv).  It was actually pretty neat but watching them on tv just isn't the same ::)

I am pretty excited about the conference championship games tomorrow 8-)

I am hoping the Patriots beat the Chargers and end up in the superbowl once more and improve their undefeated season to 18-0.

And, I am hoping the Giants beat the Packers because I have two bets on that game and if the Giants win I will get a whole whopping $6 (unless I also win at least one of the pools we have at my work).

Well, it looks like it will either be a Patriots/Packers, Patriots/Giants, Chargers/Packers or Chargers/Giants superbowl :-/

But, I would still like to see the Patriots go to the superbowl and win it making it a 19-0 undefeated season which would be another NFL record.

Woo Hoo!!!!  Giants are going to the Super Bowl!  Being a long time fan and hoping and praying all went well yesterday,NY was not disappointed!  Good game, too!  So Jerry, congrats on your win(s)!

Title: Re: NFL football
Post by Jerry on Jan 21st, 2008 at 10:26am
Thank you :)

Now I am thinking I should have bet more but $6 is better than nothing and at least I won ;)  I did not win any of the pools but maybe I will win something from the superbowl pool :-/

And yes, the games were great 8-)  Especially the Giants/Packers game.  I thought Favre and the Packers might do what they did to my Broncos in overtime and win in OT on one play.  But, it did not work out that way but I will hand it to the Packers, they didn't make it easy and they did have a great season.  I am going to have fun ribbing all the Packer fans I work with :P

And, I am still going to go for the Patriots because I occasionally go with the underdogs but not too often ::)

Ho Hum...

New York vs. Boston.....

Again.....

Even in football. The media will love this. I, well could care less. Time for a nap. Sigh..... :(   I'll take NY over the evil Empire from Boston.

I think the Packers bikini girls won the night!  :D

Hmm, Packers bikini girls ::)  Where were they, in a heated luxury box :o

I do like the Packers even though I work with a few people who hate the Broncos and the Patriots.  But, I only know one guy who is a Rams fan.

Speaking of the Rams, it is sad news that their owner Georgia Frontiiere (sp?) died :(

As only true Packer fans can be, the bikini girls were NOT in a heated luxury box - they were out in the cold with everyone else!  However, I am quite sure the bikini showing was limited to the time the cameras were on them. ;D

I'm sorry the Packers didn't make it.   >:(  They had a great season and the SuperBowl would have been a great finale for them.  A game with NY and Boston doesn't excite me.  I'll probably watch it but only for the ads.

Title: Re: NFL football
Post by Jerry on Jan 23rd, 2008 at 10:25am
That just proves that I am not a true Packers fan like the people I work with and others who are ::)

But, I do like them and Bret Farve can be an exciting quarterback to watch 8-)

There are teams I don't like but do not hate them such as the Raiders and Chiefs since I am a Broncos fan and both of them are in the same division ::)  But, I do like the Chargers even though they share the same division with the other three and I enjoyed watching them when Dan Fouts and co. were doing pretty good.

And the Cowboys can be a team I would consider another I don't like but I do enjoy watching them when they are playing great ::)

But, like I have said before I just enjoy watching NFL football in general 8-)

I'm sure some of you are sick of hearing about the super bowl but I just have to say that the best thing about it for me was I won one of the office pools we had and I won $95 8-)

And even though I was going for the Patriots I thought it was a good game and the Giants proved they were better than most people thought they are.

The Patriots had it won but their defense pretty much rolled over and died ::)

It will be interesting to see how both teams do next season.

Now would that one person happen to be a rodent? Or do they actually have TWO fans?

Also, anyone like the Doritos commercial that had the 6ft. rat break out of the wall to get the bag of doritos?   ;D

LOL  ;D I thought of you when I saw that ad!  I especially liked that they made no attempt to conceal the fact it was a costume.

The game was a good one (for a change).  I also find it interesting that Brady AND Moss are choosing to not go to the Pro Bowl......  anyone for a sour grape?

Boston lost. I'm happy. I won $6, too. Pitchers and catchers reported for spring training. Baseball is season is upon us.

Boston will have a bad season as will the Yankees without Torre. I pick Toronto to play the Cards in the '08 World Series. Cards in six. Rick Ankeil is the series MVP.
