Title: Curlygirl's hair growing adventures Post by Curlygirl24 on Apr 11th, 2007 at 12:11pm
Dear Journal,
Curlygirl22 is my old longlock name. I couldnt remember my password and it didnt send to my email so i decided to start a new journal. I had a babygirl 9 months ago and my hair has been shedding everyday for the last 6 months. its also been knotty and ratty. I bought jojoba oil from a chinese herbal store yesterday and my hair seems to like that. I also bought a extra strength hair nutrient vitamin called Shen Min Rx. I wish my hair gets as long as up to my rear. its about bsl now. i cut about 3 inches off hoping that would help. but it didnt and i deeply regret it. I just took a shower and i currently use head and shoulders shampoo. Then i used jojoba oil and put in a bun. Im hoping me and my daughter can grow our hair together hopefully. I havent been online for a while. I had a mild postpartum depression. Im doing better now and im back on tracks towards growing my hair long. love Curlygirl p.s. i have missed longlocks and im glad im back |

Hey Curlygirl! :) Just yesterday I was wondering how you are doing. Sorry to hear about the post-partum depression. I've read several articles about how severe it can be, so I'm very glad you're all right. Welcome back! 8-) *hugs*

Good to see you again, chica! You know, my mother just about had a nervous breakdown after I was born (I was her first child). She started smoking again and I think she even went to counseling. :P But whatever her troubles, she seems to have gotten over them, and good thing...because the real difficulty happens after kids are born...while you're raising them! ;D Anyway, hope all is well now for you and Julia. May your hair grow long and gorgeous and be the envy of all who admire it. ;) |

Thank you so much, sista! *hugz* :)
LL certainly is like a family...though I tend to think of everyone here as my long-locked sisters and brothers. :) It's great to have you back. I actually started a new journal at the beginning of this year, though it might make more sense if you read the last part of the old one first. :-/ Life found a few more changes to throw at me and I even had a few epiphanies along the way. Anywho, look forward to catching up. And thanx again for the compliment on my writing. I appreciate it more than you know. :) |

WB Curlygirl. Having a baby is such an awesome thing! Congratulations :) :)
I, too, cut off lots of length (5 inches) very recently, thinking and hoping it may help with my two-year shedding. Haven't seen any noticeable change yet, only the hair that does fall off is shorter and takes up a bit less space. ::) ::) Hang in there. Your shedding sounds as the kind that will taper off and eventually stop, being the after effect of the pregnancy. |

Thanks Greeklady :). Hopefully the shedding will stop. Its falling out so much im starting to get worried. I hope your shedding stops also.

Don't forget, you're also shedding out due to hormonal changes. During pregnancy, increased levels of estrogen prolong the hair growing stage. There are fewer hairs in the resting stage and fewer falling out each day. After you give birth, your estrogen levels take a tumble and a lot more hair follicles enter the resting stage. Your hair will be back to 'normal' about six to 12 months after you give birth. I swear, I thought I was going bald when I went through it. :P |
