Has anyone else had good luck with Garnier's Length and Strength products?  I just started using them and have read a lot of posts here about how many "cheap" hair products contain silicones that dry out your hair.  I'm just curious to see if anyone has used this brand and if so, what your results were.  

I have used all the expensive brands (recently tried Alterna's super-expensive White Truffle shampoo and conditioner....and they left me with dry,tangly hair) and found little (if any) improvement in the results I get, so I thought I would save a couple of bucks and try something from the drugstore.

Garnier's products do tend to be heavy with -cones.  However, some people's hair like/need the -cones and others cannot tolerate them.  If you do use this product, I'd suggest using a clarifying shampoo on a regular basis or use a vinegar rinse to help prevent the buildup of the -cones.  

If your hair becomes crunchy or brittle, you are probably suffering from product build up and a good clarifying should help.

Wow, thanks for the advice biker!  I had never tried rinsing with vinegar before I heard about it on this site.  After I washed my hair this morning, I rinsed with about 2L warm water with 4 oz. apple cider vinegar in it and then used conditioner.  My scalp feels so much cleaner and I don't feel like there is any buildup on my hair.

I am so glad I found the message boards here and read about ACV rinses.

Glad to hear the vinegar rinse worked well for you.  Sometimes it's the simple things that can make the biggest difference.   :)

Oh yes, I'm a BIG Fan of Garnier Fructis!  I loveeeeeeeeee their products!!!

I've used both Garnier Length and Strength Shampoo and Conditioner and liked them both.

As I said in another thread, what I like to do is switch brands each time I use up the old one. Sometimes you find good ones and sometimes you don't. :)

I'll be trying Pantene next.

I've never really given them a chance but I want to try some different brands aside from Gliss Schwartzkopf (sp?) and Pantene.  I've used all my Pantene up and am working myself through the last couple of Gliss bottles, then I'll try different brands and Garnier may be one of them.  

I've been using Garnier Fructis, alternately with Matrix Amplify, for a couple of years and am having no problems.  I noticed several years ago that my skin liked moisturizers containing 'cones, and I guess my hair does, too.  FYI, the water in my community is not very good, has a lot of rust and other things, I am sure.  I am new here and will be trying a vinegar rinse tomorrow for the first time, and will try L'Oreal sulfate-free shampoo next week.

I used to like one of their deep conditioners with olive and lemon in it.  I haven't used their regular shampoos and conditioners for over a decade because I wasn't happy with them then.  I'm sure they've changed but right now I've found something that works for me so I'm reluctant to change.  

My hair's a cone lover too.  I haven't thought of what my skin likes.

I used to use the Length and Strength line, but I noticed it was drying my hair out worse, and when I told my stylist what I was using I thought she was going to have a stroke!!!  I don't know if she knows what's best, but she definitely said steer clear of Fructis, so I gave away all my Fructis products and haven't bought any since...

I'm curious, did your stylist say WHY she felt it was so bad?  Did she recommend something else for you to use?

My sister's a stylist...they always flip out when you tell them you're using a drug store brand.  They've been brainwashed to believe all drugstore brands kill your hair.  :P  In all honesty, though, a lot of drugstore brands have stuff like alcohol in them that do dry your hair out, and a lot of salon brands are indeed worth the money, but that's not a blanket statement.  I'd just keep an eye on your ingredient labels and go with whatever works.  Take your stylists 'stroke' with a grain of salt.   ::)

I use Garnier Fructis shampoos and conditioners and really like them.  I was using the length and strength line and really liked it.  I could even occasionally use only the shampoo and skip the conditioner if I was pressed for time and the shampoo alone was very conditioning (for a shampoo that is).  

Last time however, I decided to try the extra body variety.  I didn't care for it very much.  I felt like it left more residue on my hair.  I thought I'd try Pantene next but unless I really love it I'll probably go back to the Fructis length and strength.  

I also use their shine serum.  It really makes my hair super soft and shiny.  When it was long I would use it when I would flat iron and my made my hair unbelievably shiny and tangle-free.  Even though I was heat styling, it felt sooo healthy and the only reason I didn't do it everyday was the time it took.  

I will admit she's not the best stylist, but she recommended Nexxus Humectress, which I'm not sure is any better than Fructis...I'm not using either now anyway, I'm trying to develop my own routine and am trying different stuff, but I've found that I really like LeKair cholesterol for my hair, it makes it feel and look so much better, but I am concerned that it's just masking the damage instead of fixing it...

I once got a smaple of Garnier Fructis in the mail and tried it, but found it way too drying on my hair.
