Title: NancyN28'2 Hair Journal
Post by nancyn28 on May 11th, 2006 at 12:06am
Okay, this is day two of my hair growing self.  Goodness, I've got a lot going on.....dieting, trying to become more domestic (I'm a terrible housekeeper so I'm a flybaby too)....

Yesterday morning I did a diluted shampoo on scalp only and then did a semi-diluted conditioner.  After that I did a John Freida hair glossing, trying to cover my grey somehow mixed with more conditioner.  I braid my hair for bed and today I did a dutch braid on the top part of my head.  It's kinda heavy though.   I think my hair is 23 inches or so.

Congrats on starting your own journal.  Keeping track of how you care for your hair can help you see what works and what doesn't.  Good luck!

Yay-rah for you on starting a journal!   ;D

Yep, I've already started a journal.  Thank You Bikerbraid and Trisha for stopping by. :)   How cool!

Hair---just comed and brushed today.  Did use some VO5 leave in as I had quite a bit of static today.  The braid left no curl so I went to work with my hair down but ended up putting the front part up in a clip.  Took it down on the way home--I put my hair up in a headband bun when I drive so it doesn't get stuck in my seatbelt.  I'm feeling the need for a wash tomorrow morning.  I still use the hair dryer a little, just so it's not soaking wet all day.  I know, I know....it's bad.   Maybe I'll learn not to rely on it so much.

So, tonight I'll probably braid it again for sleeping.....does anyone have any other ideas?

Life--First day back at work after vacation.  No a lot going on there.  Did well diet wise, so far......DH and DD are having pizza for dinner, not sure what I'll be having.  I did not workout.....LAZY!

I'll check in later.

Hey, Nancy...

Congrats on starting your journal. Look forward to more entries.  :)

BB is right - these things are good references and good ways to teach yourself. Some entries will have you screaming, "WTF was I thinking?!" but that's the point, I guess.  ;)

Ciao!

Ok, this is my second time attempting to post, my first one was lost somewhere.

I just want to thank all you visitors to my journal.  So cool and friendly!

I washed this morning.  Probably more than I should have, however, prior to washing I rubbed in quite a bit of V05.  I used suave humecant shampoo and conditioner (rather diluted) followed with the John Freida Color Glaze and more conditioner.  I'm so proud as I did not use my hair dryer today.

I discovered that because of these new stupid layers in the bang area (I have no bangs) that I cannot leave my hair down at all while at work.  My hair just gets in my way, my mouth, eyes....so I'm wearing it back in a clip most of the time (boring).

I've been putting my hair up when driving with a stretchy hair band.  I holds more than a scrunchie, same principal.  I'm sure it's not too attractive but nobody sees me as I remove it once I get to my destination.

I was unsuccessful in sleeping with a braid last night.  It just kept falling out (unusual) so I tried sleeping with a headband bun thing but it was too heavy and gave me a headache.

I did well with my diet, took my vitamins, and drank tons of water.

Ok.....bye!

Looked at my hair this morning as I was combing and I see that my blond streaks are not so blond.  The John Freida is working.  Now if it will only work on the grey?  Don't get me wrong, I LOVED my blond streaks, even considered doing my whole head that colore, but I just cannot afford to have my hair profesionally colored anymore.  And the reason I'm using the color glaze instead of regular hair color is that I'm terrible at coloring my own hair.  The color glaze is pretty easy, just like conditioner.  I hope to at least make the grey not quite so noticable.

I only slept with a low pony last night.  I did french braid it but I ruined it.  I was trying the sock trick, thinking that I would be more protective and perhaps I'd get some curl, but it was too heavy and pulled.

Maybe I'm trying too hard to be nice to my hair?  When I grew it before I was only 19, and I was working all the time and simply had no time for tims.  I didn't do anything special except only washing my scalp and conditioning the length (my then boyfriend's sister was a hair dresser and she taught me that)....I don't know.

I wonder, why at the age of 33, do I have so much grey?  People say they don't notice but they must be blind!  It is way noticable.  My mom was salt and pepper the whole time I remember her.  She always wished she'd just go silver and never did.  I think that now, in heaven, she must have the perfect hair for her, right?
I miss my mommy terribly this day before mother's day....she's been gone for  5 years now...oh well, no time for a pitty party.

My daughter has decided she would like to grow her hair also.  She has a shoulder length bob now (ALL HER IDEA).  But her hair is so easily knotable.   And I'm constantly having to remind her father not to brush wet hair!  Life is a learning experience for all of us I guess.

I have a question for anyone who might be checking in (I don't know where to ask), how important is brushing?  I got a boar bristle brush at Sally's (good price) and I was sure it was going to be stiff enough to get through my hair but it's so not.  I feel like I'm just rubbing the top and underside of my hair and the middle gets left out.

Ok, enough rambling for now.

Heya, Nancy  :)

Boar bristle brushes (BBB's) aren't meant to penetrate the hair - just smooth over the surface. They're designed only for surface smoothing & distributing oils. The goal is to try & find the softest one available for this reason.  ;)

Personally, I don't use BBB's...er, well, I have one, but don't use it all that often. I like the kind of bristles that penetrate the hair (it sounds like you do, too) and are meant for detangling. I use a Conair Velvet Touch oval cushion brush - it's the gentlest one I've found so far.

Brushing is pretty subjective. It's more important to some than others. Some people here only use combs. Most of us have a collection of different combs & brushes, each for a different purpose. Some days, I myself just use a wide tooth seamless comb. So the brushing thing - what type & how often is up to you. I think the real idea is to just treat your hair gently.  :)

Today is mother's day.  DD made me a butterfly magnet at school.  That was my mother's day gift.

HAIR
This morning I braided the top/front part of my hair and used the bun maker.  I was enjoying it.  Took it down about 2 o'clock.  My hair feels kinda gross in the root area today.  I'm going to have to check and see if we have any vinegar for I can use it when I shampoo tomorrow.  I don't yet have a clarifying shampoo and it will have to wait until the fundage presents itself.   I'm going to have to do the same with dd.

Title: Re: NancyN28'2 Hair Journal

Well, this morning I discovered that the John Freida Color Glaze is probably not good for my hair.  It felt sooooooo gross this morning, and I just shampooed on Friday! :-[  So, nontheless, I was forced to wash my hair this morning. :'( :'(   I think I need to clarify because I still kinda gross but I have neither clarifying shampoo or vinegar.  It will have to wait until payday on Friday, I hope the money will be there anyway.....

Also....I did not blow dry my hair!!!!!!!!!

Husband is ill, he has strept throat.  Great.  I've never had sprept throat in my life so I'm not worried about me, but I am concerned about my daughter...

,Ok--I've come to the realization that all of you wonderful hairgrowing people know very little about me other than that I'm obsessed with my hair and my weight so here goes.....

I grew up in Iowa and moved to Albuquerque when I was 14....I am the youngest of three children; actually, I was the afterthought as my brother is 16 years older than I and my sister is 12  years older.

I have been married for 7 years.  I have a 6 year old  daughter.  I have three dogs (very fat black lab named Peanut---I know, why peanut...., a hyper and ultra-sweet Austraillian Cattle Dog named Jo Jo, and very old and sweet Cocker Spaniel named Rusty) and one cat (very vocal male named Tigger).

I've been working for an excellent neurologist for the last 13 years.  First I was his terrible transcriptionist, then a receptionist, and now I do medical billing.  I hope my job doesn't go anywhere any time soon....13 years.... :o

I absolutely LOVE music.  Almost any kind of music, (alternative, classical, celtic is an especially fav, country, classic rock, old time new wave...)  however, it must be music and not NOISE!

( I had planned on going to music school for a while--or nursing school-- but my dad was ill and died shortly after I finished high school and as a result I went to business school...Lost my mom 5 years ago....terrible experience, I don't recommend being orphaned, it's hard to learn to be a mommy without your mommy..... :'( :'()

Ok, that's pretty much all about me.  Anything else?  Let's see.....I'm trying to learn to become obsessed with exercise instead of sitting on my butt :-[, I'm trying to figure out how to get out of debt....oh yeah....and I'm trying to learn to do cool stuff with my hair.   Ok, that's it.

Bye! :-[

Good to learn more about you, Nancy.  :)

Sorry about your parents, that's awful.  :'(

Peanut is a great name for a dog! I knew a dog named Peanut once, but he was a little Boston terrier.  ::)
I also had a lab/rottweiler once who was all black. Unfortunately, she died of lymphoma at age 6. Cancer is very common among rottweilers and labs.  :(  Be sure to take yours in for check-ups regularly.

About the debt thing, oh man, have I been there!  :-[  :P  Not a fun place to be at all! Just try to throw every cent that you possibly can at it, and it will eventually go away.
There's a book I read once that offers some pretty helpful tips. It's called Debt-Free by 30. I'll try to post a link to it....

Egad, I hope that works. Anywho, it's a good read.

Good luck with your hair. If you stumble across any awesome new styles, let us know.  ;D

Nancy, my hair is kind of like yours--the more I tried to pamper it with specialty shampoos and conditioners, the worse it behaved.  So I've gone to bare basics and it's happy again!  --Stupid hair!   ;D  It's akin to which restaurant you prefer:  would you rather dine at an expensive, 7-course, 5 different forks in front of you, kind of place?  Or would you rather have a Sonic #2: a double cheeseburger with fries and Limeade?  My hair would take the Sonic burger every time!  *LOL*

I did nothing to my hair today other than brush is and put the front up in clips.  I used two clips with my hair parted in the middle and sorta twisted.  I look like a little kid. ;D  Not sure if I'll shampoo tomorrow or not, probably not.  My hair's not feeling gross at this particular moment.

Did an official measure with DH's help---23.5 inches.

I've done well with my eating and water.  I do sieriously need to exercise this evening so I'll be doing that in just a little while.

Angel Spun:
Thanks for the link, but, I'm over 30, will it still work! ;D

Curlygirl22:
You're right, everyone here is wonderful!

Tisha:
Yep, simple works for me.  Speaking of Sonic, how ya doing?  I'm doing well except my daughter is eating Popcorn!

Lets, see......I did absoultely nothing other than a quick, careful comb through this morning.  No washing, no clips....nothing.   I still need to clarify but still waiting for fundage.  Life goes on.

DD had a performance at school today.  She's in the African Drumming Club.  It was all so cute.  I guess someone donated a bunch of African drums so they started a club.  She enjoys it.  Not bad for a  6 year old.

Angel Spun-  Yes, I agree.  Good advice is always good. ;)

Ok, another day in my life.  In hair new today, I did condioned with suave daily moisture, then shampooed my scalp (mostly I hope) with suave daily moisture shampoo, and then a final conditioner mix of suave biolage stuff and the daily moisture again.  I did not use my hair dryer, for the 3rd time! ;D   left my hair alone mostly except that right before lunch I put the front up in a clip.

Not feeling so great today.  It's that time so I'm moody and lonley for some stupid reason. (why be lonley when I'm surrounded by people all day, but it's like a deep lonley....., I know I sound stupid, I'll shut up ???).  Also, my throat has decided it needs to hurt, I hope I don't get my husband's bug.....

Ok...bye! :D

I know that feeling--and you don't sound stupid at all.  There's a big difference between being in the middle of a crowd of human beings and connecting with another soul.  I think we've probably all felt that way.

On the diet front (thanks for asking btw), it's going well!  At least it feels as if it's going well...Hubby says he's lost about 5 pounds.  I won't know until this Sunday morning, when I'm going to weigh.  If I've lost a few pounds, great.  If not, then I'll have to start keeping a food log to keep track of my carbs.   ???

On the hair front, I again did nothing but comb and a clip.  I'm seriously thinking about what to do with the color of my hair.  I kinda just want to let it go but there is sieriouly so much grey and I am only 33......but on the other hand I'm so bad at coloring my own hair.  I'm thinking I'll just let it alone.

Dieting is going well.   Still not feeling particularly well.  It's hot here today.

Ok, that's it.  Later.

Today, lets see.  Hair......this morning I did my regular combing and using a clip to keep my bang area out of my face.  Took DD to birthday party so I braided the bang area and then used my scunci magic bun maker for a bun.  Looked pretty.  Used some hairsticks with rhinestones to liven things up a bit.

I did purchase some ACV today so I'll use it next time I shampoo, probably Monday Morning.  I'm guessing I'll condition, wash, ACV and then condition.  I hope this sounds ok.

Went on my first bike ride today in probably over 7 years.  DD and DH wanted to go riding and finally, after days of riding (the weather is nice now) they invited me.  It was a bit easier than I remember, especially since I'm not a terribly active person (I'm trying to learn to be obsessed with exercise, I'm obsessed with getting out of it... :-[)

Doing well on the diet and fairly well on the housecleaning.  DD will be getting out of school on Tuesday so the house will always be a mess...

Congrats on that first bike ride!  ;D It can get easy to become addicted to physical activity.  The endorphins that are released during exercise are what become addicting.  Plus, think of the calories you can burn on your bike!

Hubby and I did our easy loop tonight - both ankles held up well, so more riding is in the future for me.  With the broken ankle I have had soo little activity I can't seem to get any of the "winter weight" off.  Biking is about my only option.

Hang in there, it will get easier and you will get results.

bikerbraid-

Thanks for the encouragement!  I'm still trying to figure out how to steer the thing, and I'm not at all used to a mountain bike but it will get easier, I'm sure.

You're recovering from a broken ankle, hope it all works out for you in being able to return to your normal activities.  I had major knee surgery many years ago and I'll never be back to normal, I just have to adapt.

Well, it's still early in the day but here goes. :P

Last night I used VO5 hair dressing on my length and ends and used a scrunchie bun for sleeping.  It actually worked very well, stayed in all night and even lasted through my workout!  Today, I just put my hair up in a  pony tail.  I plan to wash tomorrow and use ACV.

I purchased a conair slumber bonnet today.  I hope it's ok.  The oustide feels softer than the inside.  I'll probably flip it over, it would protect my hair from the elastic too.  I think I'll continue the scrunchie bun thing under the cap.

Also purchased a shower cap for conditioning in the shower. ;D

I was wondering, does anyone use VO5 hairdressing?  I hope it's ok.  I don't have any Jojoba oil (used to use it a long time ago though) and thought the VO5 would be ok until I can get some.  It would either have to be that or EVOO.  Anyone have any thoughts?  I figure I sould try to protect my hair more at night.

I looked at some clarifying shampoos today, Suave Daily Clairfying and Pantene Clarifying.....and maybe I'm reading the ingredents wrong or I'm just plain stupid, but they both seemed to have "cones" in them.  Am I wrong? I thought the purpose of clarifying was to get rid of the cones?  Will using just ACV every two weeks or so (I shampoo at the most 3x a week) be good enough?

I think I'm thinking about this too much.  Last time I grew my hair I didn't even think about it and I think it looked ok....but I was also younger with no grey and no chemical damage to my hair....  It just seems that the more I read and try to educate myself the more confused I get...one place gives some advise, another more and different, some say yes, some say no..... ???

DD told me yesterday that she wants hair to her butt.  I told her that she might have it by the time she's in 3rd grade.  (She just finished Kindergarten, and insisted on a bob arouind Christmas time.)  She seemed happy with that.  Do we treat kid's hair the same as ours?  I did teach her to CWC (I still help bathe her but I wanted her to know in case dad tries to help ;D), and we try to at least put her hair in a ponytail at night....is that enough and okay?  I don't think I could get her to use a sleep cap, even if they made one small enough for her....

Well, doing well on the dieting front.  I'm thinking I'll complete all my goals around the same time.  I know two years seems slow, but you see, that's ok.  I just want to reach goal by my 35th birthday.  ;D

Ok, that's it for now.  I really should get off the computer and do something productive...

Bye!

HAIR:
Last night I slathered my hair with VO5 hairdressing and did a scrunchie bun.  Used my new sleep cap inside out.  The bun did not work quite so well this time, little hairs kept pulling in unfindable places and finally the scrunchie fell out.  But I continued to use the sleep cap and things were ok this morning.

Today I conditioned with diluted suave humecant, shampooed with it's partner, did ACV rinse and then condioned again with suave humecant.  Hair seemed a bit fly away and dry as it was drying so I used some of DH's leave in (Crew for men, I love the way it smells).  Once it was dry at work it still seemed dry and fly away and every time I lotioned  my hands I'd put some in my hair :-[.  I've done absolutely nothing with my hair again, not even my little clip.  I did put it up in a scrunchie while making dinner (we don't like to eat hair) but took it out right away.  Fourth time of not using a hair dryer.  This is a record! ;D

LIFE ETC.

I got up at 4:30 this morning and worked out. :P  I had planed on taking DD on a bike ride this afternoon but it's way too windy here today.  My baby would be knocked off her training wheels! :)

Did well on diet today but it was not easy.  We had a going away party for a co-worker  but I resisted.  No chips, no bread, no cake, just chicken salad, that which I picked the  cranberries out of...... ;D

Ok, that's it. :D

Trisha-Thanks for the encouragement!

Today in the world of Nancy's hair.....

Last night I used some VO5 hairdressing, brushed with BBB, did low pony and my sleep bonnett.  This morning my hair was still sorta fly away so I decided, while taking my post workout bath, that I would condition only. Used the combination of Suave Biobasics and Suave Daily Moisture.  Looks a lot better today.  No hair dryer, I guess I'm over the addiction. (Ask me again when it's 15 degrees outside :o)  Did no styling except the pony tail for cooking.

I woke up at the unGodly hour of 4:30 once again and worked out. ;D  I rode 20 minutes on my stationary bike (I know only 20) and did push ups, crunches, leg lifts and stretching.  It's better than nothing.   :-[

Today was the last day of school for my daughter.  She's so glad to be done with Kindergarten (not that she ever really belonged there....

Well, I hope today finds everyone well.

Angel--Thanks for the vote of confidence. :D

HAIR:  Could not sleep with my hair braided or in the cap, so it was loose all night  :(.  Just combed (really I use a pick not a comb but combing sounds so much better than picking  ::) ).  Did not a whole lot.  Did end up doing a fishtail braid on the top part of my hair but took it out about 3 hours later as it was heavy and was giving me a headache.  I will be washing tomorrow.  I'll do a condition, shampoo, and condition....

Life was ok today.  Came home to a total and utter mess as it was the first day of "summer" for DD and since DH worked all night he slept all day.  As a result, the 6 year old ran amuk (sp?).

Ok, I'm tired, check in tomorrow.  Maybe I'll workout, or perhaps I'll wait till Friday.  We'll see.

HAIR:  Slept with hair down again :-[.  Washed today.  Did suave Humecant conditioner, suave humecant shampoo, suave humecant conditioner, and yes, the John Freida Color Glaze and more conditioner.  No blow drying.  Just left it down.

Did not exercise today. As a result, I feel very tired and I've been having trouble with finding the right words to say.  I guess I need to exercise daily.  My brain must be lacking in oxygen.

Doing ok on the diet, however, the evil husband and child baked a chocolate cake! :o  But, I am strong, I can stay away.....I hope..... ;)

Hope everyone is doing well.

HAIR:  Last night added tons of leave in conditioner to my hair, used VO5 hairdressing, Crew leave in, and even some "nighttime" lotion I use.....  Slept with a scrunchie bun most of the night until it fell out.   >:(Hair was rather lifeless this morning (as I rather expected but had hoped for better) but I woke up too late for a shower.  As a result, I did a quick CO in the sink, picked thorough and left for work.  Looked the same as always.  Did no styling today except putting up in a poy for cleaning the bathroom. :P

Dieting is going well.  Need to exercise more though.

I'm sooooo tired.  I don't know why.  This is getting stupid.  I'm looking forward to the holiday simply for the extra day.  DH will be asleep during all my waking hours as he has to work all weekend (he works 6 pm to 6 am).

I may go to Vitamin Cottage tomorrow just to look at the hair products, see in they have Jojoba oil etc.  I cannot purchase anything for a while. :(

Today I went to Vitamin Cottage.  I had planned on just "looking" at the hair products, oils etc.  However, I did make a small purchase. :-[  I spent $3.85 on Jojoba Oil.  I had no idea really how affordable and plentiful the products they have there!  There was Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Mango Butter....oh the choices!  :-/  So, I simply just purchased the Jojoba Oil.  I used a sample drop and my hair feels lovely!  Granted I've not shampooed recently....but still.  Saw an associate with the most beautiful hair!

Anyway, I've not done much with my hair today.  I put it in a pony tail.  Did a topy tail for a while but again, it was pulling in some un-findable place so I took it out.

Still no exercise.  I need to tonight.  If not for my health, then for my hair! ;)

Bye!

I desperately need to wash my hair.  I had planned on washing this morning, but then I decided to take my daughter to the Albuquerque Aquarium and Botanical Gardens.  It seem pointless to wash my hair just to go out in the sun, wind, sand, and dirt.  So, I threw it up in a pony tail and out we went.  Hair it still very soft and wonderful from the Jojoba oil sample yesterday, but greasy because I still had not washed since my over condion the other day.  I'll wash tomorrow....or Tuesday. (I know, it's gross....)

I've been reading about Chagrin Valley Shampoo Bars and they sound wonderful!  I'd still be compelled to use conditioner though....I wonder if anyone has used these or any other shampoo bars.   I'll have to look in the product area.

Slept with a french braid with tucked under ends...took two scrunchies to completely cover the ends though.

DD used the sleep cap, she really needs it.  Her hair always looks like a rat's nest when she wakes up.  She got her hair washed today and I used Jojoba oil on the ends (just where her pony was).....it's behaving nicely.  Perhaps we can get it to grow?

Ok, that's it for now.

I've been taking advantage of my very dirty hair and practicing my braids.  I think I've finally got my problem with fininshing the length figured out.  I didn't realize that once I pull my hair over my shoulder, I have to then braid inside out (or the opposite direction).   ::)  Not that it's long enough to really matter....all the piece from the layers still stick out. :'(  Oh well, now if I could just figure out how to do a bun without a scrunchie (which is poor at that) or the scrunchie thing that won't work for long.  I don't think I'll ever figure out using sticks....I must be too dumb....I'm a hair idiot.

Aww Nan, you're not a hair idiot!

Sticks can be tricky - that stitching part takes some serious practice. I didn't think I'd ever get it! But I just started playing around with some pencils at work and before I even knew it, voilà!  :)
Now I fear no hairstick, though sometimes it still takes me a few tries before getting it right.

Hair

I last washed on  Thursday Morning.  I feel kinda yucky I guess because I used the John Freida Color Glaze and then on top of that I way over conditioned that night. :-[
I again thought I'd shampoo today but I decided against it.  Child and I went to the zoo today.  She and I both have double french braids! ;D  Her's look way cuter though.  I can do mine but I have to stop at the nape of my neck and combine the two into a low pony because my layered hair will stick out of any braid in my length.  I so cannot wait for those stupid layers to be longer! >:(  Anyway, I guess I don't look too bad.  I need to look for some barettes or something that would hold the braids, like if I were just to braid the crown of my hair and let the length just be long.  Pony tail holders, even the ones without the metal  seem to tangle in my hair when I use them in any fasion other than a baisc pony tail or as a end to a braid in the length.  (I never use thosewith the metal clasp, won't even let my daughter use them on her barbies....they're just for open bags mainly).  I wonder about the little silicone ones....suppose they'd get all caught too.

Dieting is going well.  I did lose another 2 pounds this week.

Ok, I guess I'll shampoo tonight and see if I can find enough hair friendly covered elastics and perhaps  braid for waves....we'll see.

Last night, at long last, I washed my hair.  Did contion with Suave Bio Basics, shampooed (mostly scalp but a little on the hair, it just felt so gross) with a mixture of Suave Bio BAsics and Suave Daily Moisture.  Then conditioned again with Suave Daily Moisture and a little Suave Bio Basics.  I think I like the Suave Daily Moisture more than any of the others.... I jused a few drops of Jojoba oil while hair was drying and did braids for waves.  Hair looked pretty cute.  I put the front up in a couple of mini jaw clips but sorta twisted each side up first.  My hair sorta looked like it belonged in a old time painting.  I liked it.  My husband did not, he said it was "different".  Well, that was the whole idea right, to look a little different? :P

I'll oil some before bed and then who knows that I'll be stuck with tomorrow.  I may end up having to do a CO.  I should maybe not do braids for waves when I have to work the rest of the week.

Life is ok.  DD lost her first tooth last night.  So, of course, the tooth fairy had to come for a visit.  ::)  DH is acting a little strange lately...No point in asking him what's going on his head/heart....he never tells the truth anyway.

Ok, enough about me for now.

Today for hair.   Last night slept with two braids.  Not side by side but one on top of eachother.   The only I can make the layers behave.  Not at all attractive, good think DH worked.  I did oil prior to braiding.  I braided the front of my hair in two french braids and then married them in the middle to a regular braid.  Not easy to marry two braids.  The rest just hung there.  I looked pretty cute I guess.

I'll CO tomorrow just to get rid of the waves.

Hair:

Last night I oiled and slept with my hair down.  I CO this morning with combination of Suave Bio Basics and Suave DAily Mositure conditioners.  I then oiled again as it was drying.  I feel sticky.  I must have concentrated my conditioner  right on the back of my head instead of just below.  Yuck!  I will have to shampoo, tomorrow if not tonight.  I need to be more careful of my conditioner application! :-[

Hi NancyN28! :)

One way to combat your problem would be to really rinse you hair well.  Me, I sit in the shower and chant mantra's as my hair is rinsing ::)  I do this for about 10 minutes or so. 8)

Other than that....nothing going on.

Ok, it's 3:10 in the afternnon and I still haven't shampooed my icky hair.  Went to the gym so I figured I wait until after that.  It's so icky it's sticky.

I did purchase Suave Daily Clarifying.  Hope it helps.  That along with the vinegar rinse it should be ok.  Too bad the only bottle of the stuff they have is the huge one.  Should last like forever.

I also purchased a jaw clip for thick hair.  Hope I can do something with it.

Ok, gotta go shower.  I'll check back later!

Ok.  I finally shampooed and I feel so much better!  I used Suave Daily clarifying all over.  Then I used a very diluted ACV rinse.  I then used some conditioner my sister sent a sample of....Lancome Shine Vitality.  I'm sure it's full of cones. :(  Any way.......I'll oil when my hair is nearly dry.

Yes.  I feel human again! ;D

Hi, NancyN28!  If you need a good clip for thick hair, my favorite is a pike clip that I get from Louise Marie Longhairs.

http://www.hairgasm.com/magicpacks_kits/mp_orders/cat79_1.htm

I just ordered a second one today.  My hair's around 21" long and thick enough that I use the large size.  Now I can use 2 to control all this wavy hair!!

Have a great night!

Oh yeah, I meant to mention this to you before...
when you're making piggy braids for sleeping, try starting the braid about and inch below your ears, braid all the way to the end leaving maybe and inch of tail.  Tie it off and keep the braids in front of your body as you sleep.  This works super well for me.  Good Luck and don't give up!!!

Sakina-

Thanks for stopping by and for the braiding advice.  I'll try it tonight.  The clip looks interesting.  How do you use it? (I am a self-proclaimed hair idiot  :-[).

Today with my hair I did basically nothing! :)  I went to the gym to do cardio today, so I did have a pony tail in for that but other than that.....it's just down.

I did sleep with the piggy braids though. ;)  My hair must not have been completely dry from my earlier shower because I did have quite a few unexpected waves, but not as if I had braided for waves.

Ok, that's it for now.  I hope everyone is doing well.

Hooray for piggy braids!!!

To use the clip, I either gather all my hair low or in the middle and twist it up like for a French twist.  Then I squeeze open the beak 1/2 -3/4 of an inch and a)slide the beak close to my scalp down the side my other hand is holding to my head or b) I take it below the poofy top part and slide the beak across the hair again with the underside close to my scalp.  I'm at the point where I need a second one 'cause one won't control all of my hair, and I'm only at 21" so you may need a few!

Good luck!!  My bellydance teacher says the student that struggles the most, learns the best so keep practicing your hairdos!!!

Sakina-

Thanks.  And the piggy braids are great! ;D  I always thought for some reason that one needed to sleep with a french braid.....Now I know the real secret.  ;)  And thanks for the encouragement...I'd hate to have long hair and not be able to do anything with it other than a french braid.

Today in hair news.   Nothing.  I did not shampoo, I did not condition, I did not wet other than steam from my very hot bath this morning.  Just left my hair down all day.   No, that's not true...I think I had a pony for my workout this morning.  I even left it down at the gym this afternoon (wish I had not though, the eliptical I was on was not in front of an air vent!)  I did put it up is sorta a makeshift french twist with my new hair clip for "thick hair" when I came home from the gym just to get the hair of the back of my neck.  I have no idea what it looks like, probably terrible but I really didn't care.  It's 99 here today, I was hot, and had to make dinner for myself to boot!  Not sure what I'll do with it tomorrow....I'll be  4 workouts in with my sweaty head tomorrow....we'll have to see how it behaves.

In life...let's see.  Dieting and exercising are going well.  Hope I can hold out with my twice a day workouts.  But I so sierously need to.  I've never been thin in my whole life and I'd like to be just once before menopause weight gain sets in.  And the way my hormones have been behaving and all the white/grey hair on this 33 year old head---that could be soon! ???

Spouce is still acting wierd.....I'm kinda afraid to ask....not sure I really want to know....not sure why I'm still here.   Anyway.

I've been writing some poetry lately.  I used to write a lot, even wrote a few songs back in the day when I thought I could be a singer....but I reallly haven't written anything since meeting spouce (did he suck all the creative life out of me?  I even stopped singing in my own car when by myself!)  The poetry is rather dark, I guess it matches my mood as of late.

Well, I guess I should get back to my "life".  Gotta fill the dishwasher and fold and put away some laundry and have to get myself ready for work tomorrow.

Hope all is well for everyone here.

Later.

Thanks to everyone on this board for being so kind and friendly.  I've visted some other sites and this is by far the best.  (And the best part is that I actually get to post and get responses!)

Not quite so hot here today....maybe somewhere between 89 and 93, and it tried to rain.   That's always so disappointing.  My luck, it will pour tonight and thus, the jungle in the back yard will be too wed for my huband to mow....I've only been asking for 3 months?  If I had any idea how....no nevermind...I won't mow  :P.

I did not wash today.  I did spray with some water with just a drop of Jojoba oil to keep it from looking so fly away.  I may have to  wash tomorrow....I've had 5 sweaty workouts since my last washing on Saturday afternoon.  Anyway...not much for styling today, just a mini jaw clip for the top.

Last night I oiled lightly and did the ever famous piggy braids again!  This time they made it though the night to do the morning workout.

I made it again though two workouts today.  I am tired now....Oh well, life goes on.  I've got to keep it up.

Ok, i'ts now after 8 pm and I need to do dishes, fold laundry, put away lanudry, and I'd like to vaccum too....and I've got to go to bed!

Talk to later!

Ok, in hair news....I washed today!  I conditioned with Suave Humecant, shampooed with Suave humecant and conditioned again.  Let my hair dry and basically did nothing but finger comb it.  I plan to use the steam rollers tomorrow.  I was so glad to have found them and very pleased when I realized the tub was still capabable of producing steam.  I just hope that my hair will be dry enough after my workout to work.  We'll see.

Still working out daily.  ;D  I missed yesterday morning and as a result, I missed this morning because it messed me all up.  Tomorrow is another day.

Hair-  last night oiled and slept with it down.  Too tired to braid. :(  This morning I used the Caruso steam rollers.  Had to try  it twice though because the first time the steam was exceptionally wet.  I had put some salt into the water so I replaced the water and it worked out much better the second time.

Worked out twice today and I am tired now.

Took my daughter to the zoo today.  The biopark pass is really coming in handy.  Then she and I went to Chili's for lunch.

My husband entered a car show today and got two prizes.  Pretty impressive.  We weren't invited to the car show though.... :-X

It's excellent, in my opinion.  ;)

They offer many different flavours of iced tea because all they are is regular iced tea + flavoured syrup. I think they're listed under the beverages section of the menu. Being a northerner at heart, I always go for the blackberry.  ;)

Are they sweetened? Well, the tea, no. The syrup, most definitely. But probably not any more than any other flavoured tea on the market.

Congrats on the car show prizes, btw.  :)

Oiled hair last night, and slept with sleep cap.  Did my daughter's too.  She got a new sleep cap.  Sure does help prevent the rats nest.

Did nothing with my hair again.  In fact, just did a lot of nothing period.  Watched Episode III, and we're watching Elf again.

Feeling very pre-menstrual.  I have pre cramps and I don't usually.  In fact, I haven't since active endometriosis....

Anyway, still dieting and exercising.  Not doing so well on the house cleaning.....I'm hopeless.

My husband and I are proud Scion owners.  I have a plain old regular 2005 Scion XA (white, manual transmission) and my husband has a 2005 Scion TC, grey/sliver (I think it's called flint mica or something-manual transmission) that he's done so much to that it's not even funny.  He loves his car.  It is the first new car that he's owned , so I can see why. I love mine because I get 33-35 mpg in the city.  I can't even imagine what I'd get if I did any interstate driving. :)  We both used to have Jeep Grand Cherokees that were total gas guzzlers- so the increased gas mileage on are cars are so worth it. :D

Ok....my hair.....Last night I oiled and slept with my hair down. (I couldn't find the holders that I usually use for my piggy braids.... ???).  I conditioned with Suave Daily Moisture Conditioner, shampooed with Suave Daily Moisture Shampoo, and conditioned with Suave Daily Moisture Conditioner.  I oiled before going to work, it was still quite wet.  I usually use about 5 drops of oil total each time I oi.  (Don't know if they're really drops, I just punched a hole in the security cover on my bottle and use that as a "dropper").  When my hair dried it was soooo soft!.  Not greasy, just wonderfully soft.  The top layer (the bleached one) is not looking quite so fly away these days.  I hope I can diminish all the flyaways soon.

I did use a mini jaw clip on the crown area.

Still feeling rather PMS-ey.....I was too achy and tired for my moring workout but I did go to the gym today.   I do feel so much better now that I exercised though....to bad I don't think about that at 4am....when will I learn! :-[ I did a french braid for the gym and then bundled all the hanging braid up into a scrunchie to get the hair off my neck.  It never fails, I get the eliptical that has no air conditioning vent in front of it!  Again, today it's about 97.

Thinking about going to a salon to have a deep conditioning treatment or a reconstructor treatment to see if it will help my fried bleached pieces....?????

Ok...I guess that's it for now.

Let's see....last night I never removed my frenchbraid for the gym so I woke up to rather suprisingly wavy hair.  I guess I got sweaty enough....kinda gross when you really stop and think about it but I did not shampoo.  Just used my trusty little jaw clip at the crown.

Went to work, went to the gym.  DD asked for chicken wings so we had a wonderful low carb dinner.  My child then proceeded to profess her hate for me.  That really hurts my feelings.  I realize she's only six but hearing those words make me cry everytime.  Nevermind I'm hormonal and emotional, headachy and sweaty, feeling fat and ugly and completely unneeded and unloved....and then to have your own flesh and blood that you suffered in pain for 42 hours for tell you that.   :'(  Thank goodness for the hug from Trisha, she must have know I was really gonna need one even before I did!

Feeling so disconnected from spouce.  I'm not sure what to do.  I just wish I didn't have insurmountable debt with him....the answer might be more obvious if not for that.  I've recently lost 22 pounds.  I asked him if he'd even noticed that I'd lost weight and he said "yeah, sorta".  I asked him why he never said anything.  His stupid answer was "well, we hardly ever see each other".  Well, that's not all my fault.  We works graveyards S, M, T, and E/O S.  And instead of going to the gym with me on W, TH, and F....he goes during the day when he wakes up, leaving me to go alone so he can stay home at night.  Then, Friday he called me as I'm leaving the gym aksing when I'll be home because he's going out.  Any wonder we don't see each other?  Where did he have to go?  Cruising.  What 35 year old goes crusing?  I realize, it was the night before the car show and he probably wanted to scope out the competition, but still.  Honestly.  I just don't get it.  I've really no body to talk to about this because I have no parents, my sister and brother already don't really care for him and neither do most of my co-workers.  So, I keep this all to myself.....

So sorry to be rambling on and on.....I was completely fine today until I heard the song "I Love The Way You Love Me".....

Anyway....sorry.  I'll try not to be such a B and Moaner in the future.  So sorry. :-X

Venting is therapeutic, Nan. It's OK to let it out. I keep a diary just for that reason...aside from my hair journal, that is. It helps me to sort out my thoughts & put things into perspective.

So sorry about your dissolving connection with your husband. I know first hand how painful that is, and I'm here for ya if you ever need a shoulder to cry on. Feel free to PM me whenever you want. (((((((((((hugzzzz))))))))))))))

Quote:

Was that John Michael Montgomery's song?

Sorry about your daughter's comments, too. Kids get like that (usually when they don't get their way), and now I realize what a devastating thing it is for a parent to hear. I'm sure that all of us at some point have professed our hatred for our parents in some way or another. But when we grow up (and perhaps become parents ourselves), we realize what it's like to be on the other end of it. Sux, doesn't it?  :(
I'm not a parent myself, but I might suggest talking to your daughter & asking her why she feels the way she does. Chances are, she was just angry & said something she didn't mean. Happens to the best of us.
Try to find out what you did (or what she thinks you did) that seemed so unfair to her and why whatever it was is so important to her. Tell her that her comments hurt your feelings (it's ok to be honest) and try to explain your side of the story to her. She just might apologize.

Anyway, hope things work out alright both on the homefront and on the hair front.  :-*  Best of luck.

I also keep two journals; this one and a written one.  I've kept a written journal, on and off, ever since I was in my early 20s.  I have a lot of acquintances, but not a lot of very close friends.  So I end up keeping a lot of stuff inside...which, as we all know, is NOT good for us.  Hence the journal, and that is where I pour out my heart.  Nobody is allowed to touch it, let alone read it.  By keeping a journal, it's as if all the bad stuff flows from within me, through the pen and onto the paper, where it can't hurt me as much.  But there's a bunch of good stuff in my journal, too, because I write about everything that happens--the good, the bad and the ugly.   :)  Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread!

Hair-  Washed this morning.  Condioned with Suave Daily Moisture, Washed with it's partner and conditioned again.  Kept the conditioner in while I shaved (I was in the tub) and then rinsed really well and then also rinsed with cold water (much nicer to to in the tub than in the shower, the cold water stays on the hair!).  I then did some Jojoba oil.   It dried well.   It's nearly dry by the time I get to work.  Quite soft.  Put in a sorta french twist for the gym and used by clip for thick hair.  My husband said it looked funny but I liked it, and it kept me cool.  I cannot do a regular coil bun because of the layers and it is thick, and not long enough.  The ends stick out of the top instead of being long enough to tuck under the bottom.  Someday.....

Ahh, yes!  The elusive bun.  Those days were not so long ago for me.  I think my first growing goal was to be able to make a bun.  I have a few layers in my hair now because it is so thick and while if I want a really smooth bun I have to pin quite a bit, I rather like a funky bun with bits poking out.
Have you tried putting your hair up in two sections?  I don't know how long your layers are, so it might not work.  If you can pull the top part of your hair into a pony tail and coil it into a bun, take the bottom part and make a french twist.  I use a french twist comb to hold the twist and either tuck in the "tail" and pin it or take the tail and wrap it around the bun and pin it into place.
Hope that makes sense.

Sakina-

Thanks for the idea.  I'll have to give it a try.

My hair is just so frustrating.  It is fairly long (ok, maybe not long but it's not short by any means) ...The length definitely reaches my bra strap...my shortest layers are about shoulder length (where stylists seem to think that we all need face framing so we essentially look like we have two different hair styles....). I'd think I'd be able to do something with it.....I'll have to practice some.  Thanks!

Done a lot of nothing with my hair!  Yesterday I did a french braid for the gym and left it in all day!  I was actually able to braid the length without it sticking out or looking totally funky!  I think not having "clean" hair, and having been doing a fairly regular job of oiling helps.

Today it's just down as we're doing nothing on this fine and hot father's day because the father of the house is sleeping.  No, he's not just being lazy, he has to work tonight so he has to sleep during the day....

I will probably wash tomorrow moring, although it's not feeling particuallyl gross or anything.  We'll see I guess.

I'm really suprised that it's not all gross even with the workouts.  I was so afraid that I'd be all funky, but I don't even rinse after exercise.  I don't seem to smell or anthing ( I hope ya'll don't think I'm some disgusting thing)....I do bathe regularly, I just don't particually care for having wet hair...

Ok, enough babbling for now.  Hope everyone is doing well and that the blessings are abundant.... ;D

Today was a wash day, just out of habbit.  Conditioned with Suave Daily Moisture, Shampooed the scalp (mostly) with Suave Daily Moisture shampoo and conditioned again with the same.  I did rinse with cold water too.  It is much nicer to do that in the bathtub than in the shower! ;D

I towel dried, combed, and oiled.  I did use my "clip for thick hair" and sorta did a makeshift bun (easier to do when wet).  I had planned on only keeping it in for the drive to work but I kept it in until lunch time.  My hair was still pretty wet but it smelled so good!.  Left it down for the gym and put it back up in a sorta makeshift bun for cooking.

That's pretty much it.  Still dieting and working out.  I've got so long to go.

Today I did sort of a twisty thing with the sides of my hair....kinda like princess hair....where the sides are twisted and meet in the back....(sorry, I told you I was a hair idiot!).  Everyone said it looked cute.  I felt sorta silly but it has stayed in all day.

Oiled last night, my regular 4 "drops"...hair felt like it hadn't absorbed it very well.  Perhaps it's because my hair had just barely dried from the morning wash and oiling?  I might skip the oil tonight and see how it goes....

Ok, that's all.  Hope all is well for everyone.

I have come to the sad, but true conclusion that doing very little with my hair is best.  When it's just combed and hanging or in a clip on the crown, it looks best, feels best and behaves the best.  I've been bad and have not been oiling this week....I do plan to get back to it tonight.  However, I'll just keep doing a bunch of nothing to my hair mostly.  I'll probably still try to keep it off my neck and back for workouts though....

I still have this undying desire to learn to use the hairsticks, do a bun successfully and be able to braid the hanging struff without all the ends sticking out, but that will come with time I guess.

I've still successfully stopped using my hair dryer, I never thought that would happen....haven't used it since I started my journal.....

Ok, so twice a week washings, no hair dryer, ususually just using my mini clip on the crown.....the day in the life of my hair.....

Hang in there, Baby!  Try not to focus too much on what you can't do 'cause that's plain frustrating!  Enjoy your current length.  As your hair grows you will lose some hairstyles as you gain others.

Congratulations on making the transition to air drying.  Funny how we come to rely on gadgets, huh?

You're doing great!!

Well, today is a normal wash day but I did not wash.  I didn't need it thank God because I got up late....

Did nothing really, just my usual clip on the crown...

I attempted a regular braid down my back for the gym, it worked for a while and then got too lose and I had to resort to the low pony.

Hair is now to the bottom of my bra instead of the top, so I guess it's growing anyway.   STill trying to decide whether to color the blond, but I don't really want to, but I do.....If I could just remove the blond/gold shades and leave just silver that would be ok, it would blend pretty well since I'm about 25% silver/grey now.....I don't mind it much I guess, except the baby ones stick out and look funny......  I'd really like to go completely silver but I doubt that will happen, my mom was salt and pepper the whole time I ever remember her....

Ok, enough for now...

Been doing a bunch of nothing with my hair....face....life... ::)

When I was oiling every night I was getting really good at taking better care of my skin too.....at least I was taking off the large quantities of black eyeliner/mascara that I find necessary to apply in order to leave my house ....but now I've just gotten lazy and I fear I will soon lose my sparce eyelashes....

I oiled when  I washed but I haven't oiled since, but I think I can go longer without a wash if I dont oil so often.

My friends at work keep telling me that my hair has gotten so long.  I know it has grown.  I know it reaches the bottom of my bra in back.  I tried to measure but my husband helped me last time and this time, and came up with a shorter length this time than last time.....so I'll just wait.

Ok...enough for now.

Hope everyone is doing well!

ACK!!! At night, what goes on must come off. You may not lose your eyelashes, but you could get an eye infection!  :o  I could tell you horror stories about the styes I've gotten from not washing off my own eye makeup before bed (which coincidentally happens to be black also...go fig  ;)). BTW, how on earth do you get away with all that black eyeliner & mascara in the summer?! Doesn't it get all over the place or feel heavy? I'm curious because I nix eyeliner altogether during the summer. lol More power to ya if you can get away with it!  ;)

Angel-

I don't quite understand my love for black eyeliner and mascara.  I must have it, every day if I plan to leave my house!  I've tried brown and grey but it's just not the same....

My secret is using too much I think ;).

I line upper and lower lids with liquid liner and let it dry.  Then I go over the liquid with pencil and  smudge with black or grey eyeshadow.....some brown eyeshadow and about 3 coats of mascara and I'm ready to go.  I do use mineral makeup base but usually no blush (I have a tendency to turn quite pink/red naturally) and rarely some lipstick/gloss.  It stays put all day, even through the after work workout in 90+ degree heat! ???

I know it's bad but it's my look... dark eyes, fair skin, dark hair parted in the middle....it works.  I could blame my "New Wave" days in high school, but I think it's been a problem since going to mid-school in Southeast Texas....they practically teach you the art of makeup application in PE! ;D

I guess I'll never grow up.  Or perhaps it's because I'm....how'd you put it....."darkly inclined"....I love that!

I will, however, make a better effort to wash and moisturize....it is my solom swear to you miss Angel Spun...ok?

Talk to you soon!

Wow, that's quite a routine! lol Of course nothing that my winter makeup couldn't rival...that is, when I bother to wear it.  ::)  I've gotten so bad with that lately.

Ugh 90+° heat!!  :P  It's the same out here in SoCal. Most of my "makeup" during the summer mainly consists of very high SPF sunblock. I don't part my hair because the sun will burn my part.
Do you leave your hair down in this weather? lol That's amazing if you can get away with it! I try to put mine up & just forget about it because it feels soooo gross & hot if I try to leave it down.  :P

Besides, a messy updo tied up with black or "dead" roses & dark ribbons is ohh so gothic!  ;)

Angel-

You are too funny!   :)

Yes, I do usually wear my hair down, only put the crown up in my mini jaw clip (mostly at work).  I will occasionally braid it or put it in a pony for the gym but I mostly leave it down.   Oh, and yes, I have a scrunchie in my kitchen so I can cook without sheading into my family's meals.

As far as the sun burning my part....I don't see much sun.  I'm rather vampirish when it comes to the sun....my eyes water and I get a terrible headache so I avoid it as much as possible, not really hard since I work in a building with few windows.  I do "indulge" in the sun when I go hiking or go to the zoo or aquarium with my daughter on the weekends and then it's just the luck of the draw (put on sunscreen and see what happens.)

You should take some pics so we can see your "dark" hair toys.  I can rarely find anything I like enough to spend the money on.  I find a few celtic knot barrettes but they're mostly french style barrettes and they pull my hair...So I'll stick with my mini black jaw clips and my giant black jaw clip (for thick hair) for now.

Talk to you soon.

I know exactly what you mean about vampirish sun habits.  ;)  I avoid it as much as possible also, but having to work mornings & afternoons for the past 14 months has been awful. Just walking from my car to the office in the sun is murder.  :P  Thank God for the one place where I do have a/c!

Believe me, as soon as I get a digicam (or have my Rebel cleaned & repaired) I'll be posting pix of everything!! I'm way behind on the whole pic posting thing, but it will have to wait until I can afford it....which could be awhile.  :(

But that gives me time to perfect my homemade dark hairtoys.  ;D  I have the prototypes made, but they didn't turn out exactly as I had envisioned. So I'm back to waiting until I can afford more supplies.  ::)
I'll definitely post pix when I can, though.

Ok, Nancy's hair......

I took a bath last night and shampooed just because I wanted to soak my sore back.....Slept with very damp piggy braids (no oil).  Hair today is wavy but not too wavy....kinda nice.  I did add some of my husband's Crew leave in conditioner this morning.

It's just hanging here being all happy with itself.  Went to the gym, left it down....

I'll probably do a pony for my evening workout should I decide to actually do one.....if my headache goes away....usually a headache like this, accompanies by the sneezing I've had and the sleepiness....ick!  I'll bet I'm trying to get a cold.  I'll have to go take some Trimune and my vitamins.  I'll do that now.  (Glad I figured that out, I was afraid it was from my new chai....)

Let's see......I have not washed since the 4th.....just been wearing it down.  But, I did find these hair pins by scunci (sp) that hold "excessive amounts of hair"   andy I can actually get my hair into a bun!!!!!!!!   It's not necessarily pretty and it's pretty messy because the laypers stick out but it's a bun nonetheless and I can wear it up to the gym!!!!!!   Now if it will only grow so I can have a neat bun instead of a messy bun......

Ok, enough for now!

I still have not washed.  As a result I am once again successfully wearing a bun!

I discovered the double braided bun on the Styling Station.  I can actually make it work!  The ends of my layers stick out of the braids a little, but still a much neater bun than the cinnamon bun for me at this point in  my hair cycle.  I'm so excited.  These pins work great too!  I could probably hold up my bun with only two, but I use four just to be sure...

Not a whole lot to report here....been having knee pain and terrible back spams....but I'm still working out (only once a day until the spams stop at least) and dieting.  I've lost 30 pounds in 4 months....only the tip of the iceburg but it's a start I guess.

My hair today....I did shampoo, but I did not clarify a I was in my daughter's bathroom, not mine.  I used Suae Daily Moisture shampoo and conditioner, very diluted.  (The bottles were nearly empty so I filled them up with water--works for me)

I let it air dry of course ::), and oiled for the first time in weeks.  I thought about putting it up, but I don't really like putting it up when its really wet because when it dries, it shrinks and then there is alway that one hair that you cannot find that is causing pain.  That happened when I used the bun on Monday, but I hate driving to work with soaking wet hair.

Now its up with my giant clip because I'm cleaning.   Daughter and her dad have gone swimming....they wanted me to go "watch" but I hate it.  I have no desire to sit in the sun and get all hot and sweaty in this 90+ degree heat.  Although, I could probably use some sun....my legs look as though I belong in the morgue.

Angel Spun would be proud of me....I went to the gym today without any makeup!!!!!  I always have my makeup on....but not today.   Just wasn't up to it.

I had gone to bed without taking the muscle relaxant thinking my back was all better.  Boy, was I wrong.  I had to take one this morning, which I really don't like to do, but then my daughter and I walked to the park, played a while, and then we jogged home.  My daughter decided she did not want to take her Fit Kids class at the gym so I went early to get it over with.  Came home, bathed, and now laundry and cleaning.

Ok, enough for now I guess.  Gonna put on Evanesence and  get back to cleaning.....

Lets see....hair is up in it's usual clip at the crown today.  Nothing exciting.

found that DD cut her hair!  She said it was stuck in her earphones and there is a chunk missing from the top of her head!  it's not short short, but she does not have bangs.  Ok dear, not sure I'll be able to braid it in, hope that I can.

Got up this morning, did my ab workout and then went to the gym for cardio and more abs.

Still having problems with back/neck....I continue to need Flexeril every night.  This is getting old.  I only got a 15 day supply which will last me 30 days since I try not to take it during the day.

Morgue?  Oh my... then you'd think my skin is transparent...  ;)

Just a lot of Irish/Welsh roots and some very pale, fair, delicate skin.  Me and the SPF have made serious friends.  ;D

novusfemina--

I guess I can attribute my lack of color to my roots too---Scottish, Norwegian, and English.  But I used to tan so well....I didn't even have to try!  But, it's not as if I'm some sun goddess, I'm so not even trying--it's just kinda embarrassing. :P

Nancy, did I miss a journal entry where you had hurt yourself, or is the knee/back thing an ongoing condition?  My hubby has about 9 bad discs in his back and neck, so I can empathize with your pain.

My roots are a mix of German and English, so I can burn within seconds of sun exposure....okay, it's probably more like minutes, but it sure feels like seconds.  I've finally come to love my paleness, and while slathering on spf 50 (yes, 50) I remind myself of all the skin cancer I'm repelling.   ;)

There's nothing wrong with being pale. The paler the better, I say. Tans are nothing but dead skin cells anyway.  :P

Like many of you, I am also of strong Celtic heritage, and that combined with my already vampire-like habits have ensured that my skin has no melanin in it. So I also burn in about a minute, if not protected. There is no "tanning" about it. Thank goodness for high SPF sunblock!! Problem is, my skin is also verrry particular about what type of sunblock I use on it.  ::)

I'm joining in on the pale skin bandwagon!!  I'm mixed Italian and Irish.  I got the Italian temper, but the fair peaches and cream skin of the Irish!!  Tans and the sun are highly over rated!!  I'd rather look 10 years younger than someone who has fried in the sun and has leather looking skin!

Ok guys-

I so totally agree with the no tan thing....it goes better with my dark hair and my eyeliner addiction anyway!  ;)
I guess I get self-consious because I work with all these women who are just naturally darker than I could ever try to be, not that I wish to have a tan.  And the fact that most of my clothes are black, brown, or tan....you get the picture (I'm kinda......blah).  Anyway, no tan for me.  I do just wish that I were simply "pale" or that I had that beautiful "peaches and cream" complexion---but instead I have rather pink/red cheeks.  It looks as if I've been drinking a lot of the time.  Embarrassing, especially since I rarely indulge in the occasional glass...ok bottle...of Clos Du Bois Merlot 1999 .... :-[

Trisha--

No, you didn't miss an entry.  I didn't injure myself---I don't think I did anyway.  I woke up one Sunday with terrible back spasms....so bad that it hurt to breathe.  (all through my mid and upper back spreading down my ribs on the left side....very uncomfortable).  Finally had to break down and ask for meds....and now if I don't take them the spasms return with a vengence....

And my knee....didn't injure that either.  I came home from the gym one day, sat down for dinner and my knee just started aching and feeling as if things were not in the right place.  I've had pretty major surgery on it in the past (patella realignment--I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!) and so I'm a bit concerned.  It's sorta achy all the time and still feels weak and like things are in the wrong place.  I guess I'll have to find a orthopedic doc (the quack who did the surgery is no longer in practice) who will help without use of a knife!

Ok.....my hair----did a whole lot of nothing again.  Just my regular clip.

I'm still toying with the idea of coloring it.  I don't want to but the blond is beginning to bug me.  I have tons of grey but I've really no desire to try to cover it because it won't cover anyway.  That's why we went with the blond streaks in the first place....because my grey is very resistant to color.  I thought about a nice dark brown--like my natural color, but I've heard horror stories of previously lightened hair turning green when one tries to color over it...I'm scared to try and too broke to see my hair guy (who's probably left me for dead since I've not seen him in a year!).

Ok...I guess I need to stop gabbing for now.   Need to take out the trash, vaccum, and fold laundry.

Take care ya'll.....

Nan, having ruddy patches - especially on the nose, cheeks and chin - are one of the most obvious signs of Celtic heritage. I'm sure that several members of this board have them as well. I certainly do...nothing that a little pale, neutral-toned foundation won't fix though.  ;)

There's nothing wrong with it. God wouldn't make a mistake.  :)

Angel Spun-

Thanks for reminding me that I'm not alone in my skin coloring.  I do wonder, however, if I'm the only one that it gets more obvious with as I age?  Oh well, this is the life of a Scottswoman.....too bad I got the eyebrows too... :P

nancy's hair today....let's see.  I did my hair up in the braided bun.  I soooo love these hair pins.  Everyone thought my hair was "adorable".....someone even asked me if I went and had someone do it for me.....I guess that's a complement.  I need to remember, however, that if I wear my hair up to the gym, that I cannot lie my head down when I do the leg press.  OUCH!  Oh, well, my neck not exercise today too.

I'll be going out to dinner to Outback with the girls from work tomorrow.  I will continue my diet...no straying for me.

Ok, talk to ya'll soon......

Had to clarify today...it so needed it.  Used Suave Daily Clarifying and ACV.  Found that the shower was out of conditioner while I was already there, so I had a little bit of the lancomb conditioner that I used last time I clarified and used that.  Turned out well I guess.

Just as I got out of the shower my sister (in Iowa) called that my nephew was passing through ABQ.  So, I ran out the door to go meet him.  He had gone to Mexico with his church youth group to build houses and they were passing through NM on the way home.  It was nice to see him.  Got to meet his girlfriend......she's ok for a bossy, overbearing, controlling 15 year old young lady. ;D  Anyway, it was very nice to see him for those 45 minutes.

Ok, that's all for now.

Let's see... oiled last night.  Probably not enough though.  Hair is up in braided bun today.

I feel as though I'm losing quite a lot of hair recently.  My pony tail has always been fairly think and it seems to not be so thick!  I still have a lot of hair, don't get me wrong.....but still.  Perhaps it;s the heat of the summer causing this, and the fact that I've been neglecting my vitamins lately >:(

Donated a bunch of old clothes to Goodwill today (mine and daughter's).  Still have a toy box and a bunch of toys to donate but I need help getting it into my tiny car.

Went shopping for school supplies today.  Daughter did not come with me, as she went to the Japanese Club picnic with her grandma today.  No, she's not Japanese.  In fact, my mother in law is Italian but she loves anything Japanese--decorating, art, clothes....MEN)   Weekly I get a lesson on Geisha and Japanese writing---kanji?    Nobody can say that I don't have a well rounded 6 year old!

Not a lot going on here in Nancy's hair news.  I have not shampooed since Saturday....so tomorrow it will be a whole week.  Gosh, I'm lazy.  I did wear my hair up in the braied bun on.....Wednesday, looked cute I guess.  today it's just hanging here.  When I measure myself I come up with about 24 1/2 inches....it seems to be getting longer.  But when spouce measures it comes up different.  I'll get an actual measurement here soon.

We have registration for school on Saturday.  She starts back the 10th.  We're all ready.

My sister is quite ill....hope she can get her stomach surgery soon.

Ok, nothing else to report.  Gotta go to work....bye!

Ok, here it is Sunday morning and I still have not washed my hair.  I'm kinda scared.  The longer I go between washes, it seems I shead so much more!  My hair does not feel as thick as it used to.  Could it be because it's somewhat greasy?  To the best of my ability, when I measure my pony tail it's still measuring4.5 inches around....still pretty thick?

So, I might shampoo tonight or tomorrow morning, not sure what my plans really are.  I have it up in a pony for the last couple of days.  Had a braided bun yesterday morning but it was so fly away (thanks to all the rain) that I had to secure it with a scrunchie too....got really heavy as the day went on and I took it out after the gym.

I'd like to thank everyone who's willing to pray for my sister.  Please continue if you don't mind.  We appreciate it, we really do.  I'd rather she not have to have the stomach surgery but I realize she cannot continue to live in this pain and function and the risk of the ulcers perforating is great and that could most certainly kill her.  She's taking lots of Xanax now to reduce her stress level as well as plenty of Darvocet for pain.  She has a barium swallow and some other tests on Tuesday and then they will make the decision to resect  over half of her stomach and 3/4 of her deudoneum--really risky surgery.  However, the affected tissue could turn to cancer if they don't remove it....

School starts in a week and a half.  My daughter is really excited.  Gosh.....1st grade.  My baby's growing up!

Weight loss is still going well.  I've lost a total of 35.5 pounds since March.  Kinda slow but not to bad considering the difficulty sticking with it I had at the beginning.  Gotta keep eating right (for me....maybe not for you  ;)) and exercising!  When I don't want to exercise, I just keep teling myself that it's not only for my weight and body but also for my hair. ;D  Sillly, I know, but it works!

Ok, laters.

Oh well....we'll see when I shampoo....

Ok, I still have not washed.  Wanted to see how things felt after 6 days.....this time I feel kinda greasy and a bit itchy but I'm still going to wait until tomorrow morning or late this evening to shampoo.  Last time I didn't feel the least bit "gross" but we've also had a lot rain and the humidity could have something to do with it.

My hair's just hanging today, but I put my baby's hair in double inverted french braids (dutch...can you say french and dutch to describe the same braid?).

My sister is finally having her surgery tomorrow.  This is pretty major, I hope all goes well.  Any and all prayers will be appreciated.

Ok, my sister had her surgery today.  It sounds as if she's going to be fine.  I did get to speak with her about 2 hours after she got our of the OR.    She sounded really great!  They did give her an epidural which probably helped a great deal with the pain control.  Anyway, just wanted to thank everyone for the prayers and please continue to do so.  She has a long recovery ahead of her....

My sister is doing ok.  She's still in the hospital.  They probably would have let her go home yesterday but she started getting vertigo on Thursday which makes it difficult for her keep anything she eats or drinks down (which isn't much).  She says her ears are popping and that nothing tasts right, I wonder if she has a sinus/ear thing happening that could cause the vertigo.  She just wants to go home.....I don't blame her.

Did nothing with my hair.  Still on the once a week shampoo kick.  I did purchase some Pantene intensive restoration treatment.....I figure the least I could do is use a deep conditioner once in a while.  I think I'll clarify tomorrow and then use the conditioner.  I'll probably regret it, as it does contain cones and I'll probably feel gross by tuesday or wednesday, but I think my hair needs a deep conditioner---any thoughts anyone????

That's all I have to report for now...

Here is it, Sunday Night and I've still not washed my hair.  I planed to clarify and deep condition....was gonna keep it on for a good long while.....but the day got away from me.  I'm off tomorrow, dd will be in school and dh will be sleeping so maybe after I take her to school I'll do it.  Then is should be dry by the time I pick her up...only to get all sweaty at the gym tomorrow evening! :P   Oh well, such is life.

Title: Re: NancyN28'2 Hair Journal

Ok.....let's see.  Came home from taking DD to school and did my AM workout (The Firm) since I was too darn lazy to do it at 4 am.  Then I clarified using Suave Daily Clairfying and ACV together (after I was a bit sudsy).  Now I've got the new Pantene Intensive Restoration treatment on.  Have my oh so cute pink shower cap and my purple hair turbon (sp?) on over that which I heated up in the micro.  I plan to leave it on for at least a half hour.  I'd love to do it longer but I have to go pick up my daughter at 1:05 and don't still want to be soaking wet.  Hope this helps.   Feeling guilty/gross/icky about only washing my hair once a week but I so hate wet hair!  Perhaps I should at least CO during the week once or twice after the gym?  I don't know.  I just really hate wet hair--it's so hard to manage and I really don't want to arrive at work with wet hair anymore in the mornings, especially since eventually we might see fall.

Still getting plenty of rain here in the desert southwest.  I don't remember this much rain in a long time.  Now the bosque is growing lots of greenery which will only become a problem next spring/summer when we have no rain and then we'll get wild fires....there is just no winning here.   And, because of all the rain (the mighty Rio Grande is actually looking like a river again, not just a pitafull stream) we might have a decent snow season for the skiers.  I do not ski, nor do I ever plan to try, but my boss loves to ski and the more snow the more day's he'll take off!  Gotta keep that man happy.

My sister is home from the hospital.  The vertigo is still there but not quite as bad.  And at least at home she can eat her own food, drink her own water, and sleep in her own bed, which is all she wanted in the first place.  She's gotta remember to drink small sips frequently throughout the days...she can no longer drink with meals, nor can she have large gulps.  Now if I could only get her to eat right--she's gotta rememer protein first and she must take a multi-vitamin.  She's the nurse but she's a terrible patient herself.  She's always asking me for medical advice.....I have no degree.....but she listens so I do the research for her.

As of yesterday I've lost 39.5 pounds.  The scale would not give me that last half pound to make it an even fourty.  I've still got so far to go but I'm feeling so much better.  I can cross my legs now!

Well, enough babbling for now.

Check in later.

Did your sis suffer from vertigo before her surgery, or is this a new experience?  My husband is going to have gastric surgery next week is why I ask.  He already has had vertigo issues in the past since a car wreck about 4 years ago.  I was wondering if it will resurface secondary to this surgery.

PJ-

My sister did not have issues with vertigo prior to the surgery.  She'd had vertigo once when she was 12 but nothing since.  She was concerned that it could be a vagus nerve problem but I think it's from some sort of ENT problem as her ears were popping and taking a decongestant has helped.

Hope all goes well with your husband.

Oh....and thank you. :)

I guess I will be prepared for the vertigo at least.  He air travels quite a lot, and he has had some major ear issues lately.  I hate that for him because I know vertigo is such as a bummer.  Well, it could be a trade-off for him since he needs to lose weight.
Now I need to figure out if I tell him about the vertigo possibility, or if I just wait to see if it happens.

My hair did ok with the conditioning treatment.  I left it on for about 40 minutes and I really expected it to be softer than it is but I can't complain.  It took quite a long time to dry.  This morning it still smells so nice despite my workout last night.

Still doing a lot of nothing with my hair.  Braiding is still difficult thanks to these layers.  I know, patience......

Well, lets see.  I was pretty sure I was going to have to shampoo today but it was actually alright!  I probably won't wash again until Sunday afternoon which is pretty much the norm.

I really hope nobody thinks I'm gross for only washing once a week??!!!

Ok, nothing much else to report.  Later.

You haven't been reading Galadriel's journal, detailing her experiment of not washing for 6 weeks, have you?!   ;D  Anyway, I think a lot of LL members wash only once a week.  I'm working towards that goal myself!

Trisha-

;D  Yes, I was reading her journal but she at least uses water...I don't.  I just can't stand having wet hair any more than that which is absolutely necessary!  But I guess it is a good habit to get into if indeed I want to have at least waist length hair....I just work with a couple of OCD people who I'm sure would never speak to me again if they knew.   And I guess I feel kinda gross because I workout frequently and still don't even wet my hair after that, I just don't feel it's really necessary, I don't smell bad or anything (at least not that I know of) :-[.

I finally washed tonight.  I was feeling icky, sticky, and greasy.  I know my hair needed the deep conditioning but I'll have to remember that I'll need to wash more frequently the week I do that.

I conditioned and shampooed, rinsed, shampooed again and conditioned.  I used my usual Suave Daily Moisture Shampoo and conditioner (both of which are very diluted).

Nancy, my low carb friend, I put together a treat over the weekend that you may like.  It doesn't even have a name yet, but I'll think of something.  The ingredient list was:
1 tub of non-dairy whipped topping, thawed
1-8 oz pkg of cream cheese
1 cup of Sorbee sugar free chocolate syrup
1/2 cup of Splenda
1 envelope of Knox geletine

I blended everything together and after about, oh, say a half hour - 45 minutes, the mixture set up quite nicely.  It will make a nice pie, for special occasions, but it's good with no pie crust, too.  For the next experiment, I will cut back the chocolate syrup to 1/2 cup, and possibly increase the Splenda.  I may even omit the cream cheese, since I basically used it as a thickener.  But the geletine should accomplish that.  Anyway, this treat isn't SUPER low carb, but I think it's pretty adaptable.  Anyway, hope you enjoy it!

I washed in the shower today, on a whim....reallly didn't plan to but I figured that since it is a holiday weekend and I've really been neglecting personal hygeine lately I should go ahead since the desire struck me.

Put my hair up in a bun, while wet.  Left it in until about 2 pm when I took it down because it was looking "fluffy"...then did a pony tail.  My pony tail is still wet.....I guess I'll probably be wearing a pony all weekend now....

I have been thinking about getting a trim.  I was thinking about cutting enough to eliminate the longest layer entirely.  It would even things out a bit, but I'm terrified of losing the length.  I just have so many splits despite trying to do search and destroy whenever I'm in the bathroom for a somewhat longer period of time and when I'm on the phone.....

Perhaps I'll wait a while until I'm more comfortable with the idea.....my last trim was in May and prior to that it was August.......I know there is no point in having long hair if it's not healthy but I still have fears.

I know my hair has grown since the shortest of the layers around my face are now long enough to put into a low ponytail without falling out.  I certainly do not want my layers touched at all.....

Any suggestions would be extremely welcome.

Deciding how/when to eliminate layers and/or damaged hair is a tough one.  You can either take it all off at once and know that you have healthy ends, or take it off a little at a time and not show much progress in gaining new length.  Only you can decide.

When I have grown out my hair in the past, I would try to get it to a nice ponytail length, then hold it at about that length while I regularly trimmed the uneven ends until I finally got everything one length, then minimize future trimmings.

Good luck with your decision.

Good luck with your decision Nancy.  I just finished growing/cutting out layers myself.  I decided to cut a little at a time as bikerbraid described, so my hair has been the same length for about 2 years. It's kind of frustrating not gaining length, but at least you're not doing something drastic like cutting it all at once.

Yes, deciding what to do about layers is always a difficult one.   But not only layers do I have to think about but I'm also growing out color......what a mess!  The layers are bothersome to me most of all, however for the inability to finish a bun and french braid nicely.

I finally washed my hair this morning!   It's been a week.  I was feeling really gross.   Nice to have clean hair once again.   Used Suave Humecant shampoo and conditioner and a nice two drops of jojoba oil.

Father-in-law left today.  I finally have my house back!!!!!!    Now, don't get me wrong, I do like the man and I most enjoy his company.  I'm just not used to seeing him more than once a year and he was just here in May.  He said he wanted to spend time with Cheyenne, but if that's the  case why does he visit when she's in school?????

Still have not cut my hair.  I am, however, considering coloring it again.  I'm tired of looking tired.

Had a terrible dream that my hair fell out....like almost completely.  Literally very terrifying.

Beautiful fall day here in Albuquerque.  I think I even smelled the smell of burning leaves.  Too early for that but still, the aroma is comforting in a strange way.

I washed and conditioned this morning.  I was hoping that washing more frequently would decrease the amount of hair I lose each time.....wrong!  I really fear that I am losing too much hair each time I shampoo!  I will give it some more time before I see a doctor to discuss getting my thyroid tested.  I'm probably over reacting but this my hair we're talking about here!   ;)

Well, if you see yourself in this situation for how ever long, perhaps learning some stress reduction techniques will help your shedding.
A few recommendations:
*regular exercise-walking is great (shoot for 30 minutes a day, not distance)
*yoga-postures, breathwork &/or meditation
*soothing hot bath, with salts & essential oils-lavender is super calming
*journaling-get the thoughts out of your head-especially before bed so you get a good night's sleep
*read something spiritual, from whatever interests you or from your religious persuasion.  If you do this reading before bed, you will go to sleep with spiritual thoughts.  That may also help you make your decision.

No matter what happens, I wish you peace.

Sakina-

Thank you for the suggestions for stress reduction.  I already exercise (although working out at home is just not as rewarding as going to the gym--I just started going again on Wednesday).  As far as yoga, I think I'm still too fat to do any of the poses properly--any suggestions?

I need to start reading again.  Also, I will be returning to church on Sunday..I've gotta start making some sense out of this thing posing as my life.....

Thank you.

Washed this morning.  I need to clarify and do a deep conditioning but I just haven't had the time.  I'm nearly out of my beloved Suave Daily Moisture shampoo and conditioner.  Darn.  I'll have to spend more money I don't have (I know, only like $2.00, but every dollar counts you know  ;) )

Still considering getting a trim and coloring....but I'm so co-dependent....I find it absolutely impossible to make life decision on my own.  Good Lord, what is wrong with me?

My life, Oh, my life......something's gotta give and I hope it goes soon.  By nature I'm somewhat negative and depressive.....but I try to push it all aside or people don't like me.  But, man....it's hard when life starts being reallly hard to live....

I did go back to the gym after not going for a month.  I didn't realize how much just getting out of this God forsaken house for an hour a day helps....(not like I don't work for like 9 hours a day, but still....ME TIME).

Ok, enough babbling and bellyaching.   Gotta go to work.

No such thing as being too fat to do the poses.  It is best to start with a teacher who can help you with your alignment when you are just beginning a practice.  There might be a   Yoga for Round Bodies in your area-no skinny minis in that class.

I'm glad to hear that you are taking action to take care of yourself, that in and of itself will help you feel better.

I don't know this story verbatim, and maybe you've heard it before-its a Native American teaching story about 2 wolves.
Grandfather is telling his grandchild about the 2 wolves that live inside each of us.  They are always fighting with eachother.  One wolf is angry, hateful, feaful, mean.  The other is loving, kind, compassionate and patient.  The little one asks "Which wolf will win?"  The answer is "The one you feed the most."

It is very powerful to be aware of our thoughts.  Knowing their nature gives us the power to change them.  It takes diligence and perseverance to change them, it can be done.  Decide what kind of energy you want in your life and create it by replacing the negative or depressing thought with "I am (loving, lovable, loved, beautiful, a perfectly good human being, noticed & appreciated in the most positive ways-these are examples of some of what I use every day)" fill in the blank.

Honey if you are crying you are hurting. you have both excepted a break in the marrige, but thats whats marriage is about working at it not giing up when thing seem to look bad. The vowels you spoke at the alter they ment something. Most marriages with problems can easily be resolved.

Councelling is a great step to take, it will help you realse your prblems are maller than you thouht and whats more they can be resolved.

Most couples i councel always look to find fault in the oher before looking at themselfs. The woman will say im not loved ad appreciated and the man will say im not respected but do you do what you want to your patner e.g does he resect her does she appriciate him.

Most couples make big ideas out of small things. Always fiding fault in the other no matter how small. Even the worst marriages can be brougth back to that first love and go on to be elderly lovers.

Most of all you to bought life into this world she learns about marriage and family directly from you.

Dont give up there are lots of call centrs, books, people out there who can help. So many peole are in your position its what you do about it that will make you both stonge in love than ever before.

To be alone is to be half. To be together is to be one/whole, you choose to be whole for the rest of your life not alone. Be strong make it work.

It is one thing to think that its over, another to take action.  One step at a time will get you where you need to be.  Cry your heart out and make room for new energy.  You're crying for yourself, your daughter, your relationship, your ideas, your hopes and dreams.  The end of a longterm relationship is like a death.  All of the steps of grief apply.  I don't know what its like to break up and have a child involved, maybe your church counselor can help you help her.  Maybe the tension in the home is why she cut her hair.
I hope your split is amicable for Chyenne's sake (sp?).

You always have us to bounce ideas off of, get suggestions or to vent.

You are only alone if you choose to be.

As for the rest, all I can say is that I'm terribly sorry. It's a horrible thing for anyone to have to go through. God knows I've been there, too. But with acceptance comes independence and empowerment. You are your own special and wonderful person - never forget that!

Thank you everyone for you thoughts.   I'm just so confused right now.  Although in my head I feel that splitting is the right thing to do for my sanity if for nothing else, but my heart tells me differently.  I kind feel like  Amy Lee was in my head/heart when she wrote My Immortial....

I know I'm not happy and I don't feel love but am I being selfish wanting to be happy?  I feel like I've made so many sacrifices and Michael has made very few....finances are a mess because if he wants it he gets it.  There is not much else I can give up.  I can give up my gym membership but it is the one thing that I do for me.....should I give it up?  Should I give up any hope of ever really feeling loved and being happy to try to make it work?  I have to admit, we really haven't tried but I don't think he really wants to.

He was working really hard at being "nice" to me.....but why did it take so much work.  Should it not have come naturally?  Physically he want's nothing to do with me...he's always on the computer (as am I, but this is why I found this place so I would have something to do too.) and his car is the "other woman"....

I just don't know what to do.  I want to do the right thing, but what is the right thing?  I guess I just have to put it in God's hands and pray for His will.....

More than anything I want Michael and Cheyenne to be happy.  So what if I'm not.  It's never mattered before, why should it matter now?  33 is a little old to start becoming selfish, you think?

And I have such trust issues.  He knows it and he knows I have very good reasons to have trust issues, yet he has this secret life of his.  Can I live the rest of my life always wondering and competing with the unknown?  I don't think so.  And I don't think that he could do anything to make me completely and totally trust him....there is just too much in the past.   Lack of trust is not fair to him when/if he's not doing anything wrong ( but if that is the case why is everyting such a secret?  He never lets me see his computer screen, always text messages people on the phone....) and it's not fair to me either way.  I'm tired of always being tired.  When I go to bed he stays up on his computer and/or phone all night long and I get up about 6 times to "check up" on him...not that I ever find anything out but still.....

I feel like a terrible person.  A selfish child.

His mother is freaking out.  I can't bring myself to tell my sister.  My friends think the separation was long overdue.....

I guess I need to find out what he really wants to do for him.....

Situations like this always make you want to second guess yourself.  But you must do what you think is right.  A marriage does require sacrifices but not always from the same person.  How does Michael feel about the separation?  Have you tried or considered couples counseling?  Do you both feel the relationship is beyond repair?

I hope you all can find the right path and be happy again.

Well, I'd like to thank everyone for the thoughts.  As of now, things are stable.  We've agreed that we'll be separated but living in the same house until at least January (gotta get through the holidays for the child) and that we will work on communication.  Regardless as to whether we choose to stay married, we have to communicate.  At this point he has refinanced the house and all our debt with the exception of my car payment into one payment in his name only (provided the financing really goes thorugh).  I am safe as I am still on the deed until which time a judge or lawyer tell me to sign the paperwork to sign everything over to him.

Anyone who prays, please continue to do so that I know that His will is.....

He understands that anger will come into play and I might not be quit so nice....he seems cool with the fact that I don't trust him and probably never will.  I assume that a divorce is probably going to be the next step but I have to try I guess.

((((((((((((((Nan)))))))))))))))))))

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. God knows the things I've had to deal with...and it pains me to see another woman, a sister, in any similar situation.

What I can tell you from experience is trust your instincts. If you feel that you can't trust him, there's a reason for it. Probably many. Do NOT blame yourself for things that he's done in the past that have caused you to feel this way. It's a natural response.

As for his computer habits...he's a guy, honey. What do you think he's doing on there? This and his texting and whatever else have roused your suspicions for a reason - they're suspicious behaviours! If this is your first time dealing with any of this, then you have my pity. Unfortunately, we all have to learn sometime.

Also, I feel bad for Cheyenne and the experience that awaits her. It's an awful thing when parents divorce...but she's young and will have more time to adjust. It's better if it happens when kids are young. It's also better if it happens quickly.
My mother's parents went through quite an ordeal while they were divorcing - it actually took several years to finalize. They separated, reconciled, separated again and divorced. There were other lovers and all sorts of legal red tape. It was not pretty, and their children witnessed everything. To this day, my mother harbours a mess of psychological problems within herself...several of which come out inevitably.
Your choices will affect Cheyenne's future - so if divorce is what you choose, do try to make it as swift and simple a transition as possible.

First and foremost, however, I suggest discussing the matter with your husband. Find out where he stands on the whole marriage issue. Does he wish it to continue? Does he wish it to end? The problem is not going to go away, so ignoring it won't help him. It has to be addressed.

If it turns out that both of you are willing to try & save the marriage, then counseling may be your best option. And it's going to require effort from both of you.

Quote:
It's never mattered before, why should it matter now?  33 is a little old to start becoming selfish, you think?

If it's never mattered before, then that's exactly why it should matter now. It isn't selfish to put yourself and your own needs first once in awhile. Especially in these situations. Selfish is putting yourself & your needs first all the time!

More than anything, you need to think about Cheyenne. It will be far more damaging to her to live in a house with unhappy parents than to live in 2 different places with parents who can live and function normally.
You need to put her first. Then yourself. Just promise me that you won't continue to live like this. No one deserves to.

I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

Rainbow-

I realize now what he's doing to me.  He's trying and nearly succeeding in screwing me.  I will not sign anything.  There is no way he can refinance everything into his name alone unless I sign this deed deal and I will not do that.  Without me and the death of my mother we would not have this house.  He's not getting anything that easily.  I have spoken with an attorney and will meet with her on Tuesday.  In the meantime, I'm not signing anything.

Thank you for your advice.  Gosh, he must really think I'm stupid.

Trisha and Lisabelle-

Don't feel bad about missing this.  It was kinda sudden, although years in the making (if that makes any sense.)

I'm still not handling life well.  I still cry frequently, especially now that my brother and sister know.....now it's real.

I just hope I don't regain the 53 pounds I've lost....and I hope all my hair doesn't fall out.

Hi everyone!

I figured I'd better stop by and say hi and give an update before ya'll think I've fallen off the edge of the Earth (ok, I've thought about throwing myself off but.....)

The separation is, well, a separation.  Unfortunately we are still living in the same house probably until February or March.  It will help with finances and I'll be able to get some money saved.  I've also become an Avon representative in the attempt to have a little bit of extra income.  I hope I can succeed at making at least some extra money--I need some money to save and some fun money once in a while.

Februay 1 I will be living here in the house alone with Cheyenne.....finances will be tight but do-able.  If it gets too difficulty, when my sister is better, she'll come and help me sell (she's a real estate agent).  The lawyer I saw suggested selling now but my sister advised  against it now (having seen my home and knowing the Albuquerque market--not a good idea right now.).   I hope to be able to stay here indefinitely though---probably an unrealistic dream but I'm trusting in God and I will follow his lead--he is in control not me.

On the hair front, it's getting really long!  I've got to figure out a way to color it very inexpensively as I need to look my best from here on out.  We'll see what I can find.  I hate to do it but I really feel it is necessary at least for a while.

I've stopped losing weight but I has also stopped tracking every single thing that went into my mouth and had stopped exercising.  So, yesterday I cheated and ate anything I wanted (and some I didn't really want) and I've restarted my diet and exercise plan today.

Well, I need to get going and starting cleaning my house so I can get back into the back yard and do more yard work when it's a little warmer.  I really hate yard work but I've gotta figure it out so I'm trying......

Hope all is well with everyone.  I'd like to thank everyone for your care and support.  Stop by and say hi! ;)

Hang in there, sister. There's a light at the end of the tunnel.

It's going to be awkward living with your husband, being aware of what is to come and the fact that your marriage is essentially over. But you know what else is over? The worst of it. Aye. The real pain...the fights, the emotional distance, the little things you do to each other just out of spite, the various objects thrown and the feeling of dying inside...that's pretty much over at this point.
Oh, it won't really start to get better until you are indeed separated (legal separation begins when you are living in separate abodes). But the absolute worst of it is over because now there is an end in sight.

The best to you & Cheyenne.

Hey there all-

Figured I'd better stop by and say Hi before you'll thought I threw myself off the edge of a cliff (yes, the thought has crossed my mind... ::))

Not a whole lot going on in the hair front, excep that I used my hair dryer for the first time this morning since May--but I had to dry my hair before church and it was too cold to let my car heater do the work like I usually do.  :P  My hair is still falling out dramatically, people are beginning to notice that my hair is not nearly as thick as it used to be.  I really hope that the hair loss slows soon, I'm begining to have some real fears.  The hair that I do have is getting really lon though, almost to the bottom of my rib cage and it's long enough to start bugging me.  I'm considering getting a good trim, but I'll wait until the divorce is final (since it looks like that is still going to happen) so I can start my new life fresh, if I still want a good trim by then.  Trims will be few and far between in my new single life since my budget will not really allow, and I'll have to save a few dollars each month for anything extra, (clothes, hair cuts, products and anything fun).

Speaking of clothes.  They are all too big.  I look really unattractive in clothes that are way too big.  But, there's not a thing I can do about it.  Hopefully my sister will lose more weight too and then I can have her clothes in sized 10-14.....

I strayed off my eating plan, but luckily did not regain anything significant (one or two pounds).  I've restarted my plan with a vengance and now I really have to start exercising again.  I'll miss going to the gym (I love the eliptical) but I have plenty of workout videos, weights, and an exercise bike here at home.  On the evenings that I don't have Cheyenne (once HE moves out), I'll probably go walking in the hopes of learning to run....I've always wanted to be able to run and never could in my whole life---I will be able to run before I turn 35, that's my goal.....

Anyway, I've babbled on long enough.  Hope this finds all you well....

later.

Hey, Nan  :)

Good to hear from you again.

Shedding is a common side-effect of stress, and divorce can be a very stressful thing. Particularly when children and property are part of the picture. But it won't be this crazy forever, thank goodness, and your shedding will eventually stop.

lol Everybody looks terrible in clothes that are way too big for them. I know that that budget's going to be pretty tight from now on...so perhaps you can ask for new clothes for Christmas. People who know you will be trying to help you out in any little way they can - just tell them what you need.

If your hair is in need of a trim, and there's a little $$ in the budget for it, then I would suggest doing it now. It takes 6 months for a divorce to process from the time it is filed, so if your hair needs it, you shouldn't make it wait that long.
Try not to put your life on hold until "after the divorce is final." That is certainly something to look forward to because it will be a big weight off of your shoulders...but your problems won't magically end right then & there. You're still going to have the bills, the mortgage, the custody issues, etc.

It's awkward and it sucks rocks right now, I know. But try to use this time to just focus on being a good mother to Cheyenne. No throwing yourself over cliffs. She needs your guidance now more than ever. Hang in there.

Happy Thanksgiving!   yeah, whatever....anyway.

We filed the divorce papers yesterday.  We should know something by next Friday.....

Oh the hair front....it seem I need to wash more frequently now in the winter than I needed to all summer....weird.

I've used my hair dryer twice....I know, I know....but I just can't leave the house with wet hair.  I don't use it much, just a little....

Nothing much else is going on.....later.

Well, I've been a bad girl.  I've been using the hair dryer more frequently than not.  Since I've been having to shampoo more frequently than usual and it's so darn cold in the mornings.....I've had to use it.  Not for long and certainly not for sytling purposes...just so my hair is not dripping wet when I leave the house.   I hope I will be forgiven.....

Anyway.  I'm actually in pretty good spirits in spite of the fact that my life kinda sucks right now.  I'm rather lonely and somewhat weird about how awufuly lonliness is....but nevertheless, I am surviving.  LOL

I'm not at all prepared for Christmas.  In fact, I'd really like to skip it this year but perhaps I should remember that Christmas is to celebrate the birth of our Savior and not about all the gifts I cannot afford to give!  LOL

Hope everyone is doing well....

Christmas is a special time.... ignore the commercialization of it.  If you must give gifts, give from the heart not the pocket book.  Maybe you can make some of your gifts.  A nice frame with a picture of you and your daughter would make a great gift for many, I'm sure.  (Your avatar picture is a great picture!).

Holidays are always tough after a major change in your life.  Try to take things slowly and not over do things.  Make it a special time for you and your daughter.  Go look at lights or other Christmas displays in your area.  Maybe find a children's play to attend. Learn a Christmas song together and go caroling.  Have some fun.

Well, lets see.  My poor hair has been though so much this week.  We were packing our office to move and I kept taping my hair to boxes.....

I french braided my hair yesterday and the end was so thin....I am seriously worried about this.

I have continued to use the hair dryer if I wash in the morning because it's cold.   I know that's bad but sometimes you do what you have to do. :-[

I'm having rather extreme food issues as of late.  I need to stop and I also need to start exercising again!

My husband and I have our hearing for the finalization of our divorce on 12/19....  I hope that is uneventful....

Stress is such a yucky thing to deal with - it can cause hair loss and if you are like me, it also results in me eating too much and eating the wrong things.  An exercise routine can help in several ways - the obvious calorie burning, but it also releases endorphins that will make you feel better about life in general (it can counteract depression).  Your hearing is soon, and then you can start the real healing process.  Try to find a regular time to do a little exercising - you will feel much better in so many ways.

Oww! Tape & hair do not mix.  :P  If you can French braid your own hair, you're far more talented than I. Maybe you should do your hair that way for work to avoid future taping fiascos.  :o

Extreme food issues...what? *hides the box of SweeTarts that I'm scarfing*  ;D  We all fall off of the wagon sometimes, hon. lol

Sounds as if the legal proceedings are definitely getting under way. Though I must say, I'm pretty amazed at how fast they seem to be addressing the issue out there. In CA, it takes 6 months for a divorce to become final after a couple has filed for one. But the emotional process is the same, I guess. Just do what you have to do. *hugzz* Hang in there, m'lady. Everything will be in its right place soon.

BTW, I like the new pic in your signature! Your hair looks very healthy!  :)

Hello Everyone!!!!

So sorry I've been MIA.....life just continues to get in the way.

Let's see....hair....it survived the packing tape!   I think I really need a trim but I will put it off for a while.    Diet-back on the wagon again.  I'm up a few pounds but luckily my clothes still fit (the small one's....that is).  So, I'm back to Atkins, added Coconut Oil to my daily coffee....and my twice a day workouts.  I have to do it.  So, here I go again.   :P

I have/had a friend that I'd know for a long time.  He and I were friends (online) long before I ever met my husband.  Well, a couple of weeks ago he and I were talking, just having a normal good conversation and he decided out of the blue that we should no longer communicate!   :'(  I was heart broken.  He was my lifeline.  I believe that I've been in love with him on some level for the last decade...So, I sorta had my heart broken twice this year.....once by husband and once by friend.

My husband and I....well....we get along so well now.  This is the strangest relationship in the world.  We talk, we laugh, we even flirt.....too bad it wasn't this way before--EVER.

We see the judge on Tuesday....this should be an experience...I'm afraid of the outcome.  I mean, I realize she cannot decide that we can't get divorced but she could make me sell my house.   That would be the best thing in the long run but I'd never get what I needed for the house and I'd still be paying a mortgage on top of a rent payment.  I just pray the Lord will guide the judge and do what is best for everyone involved.

Ok...so I'm off to ride my exercse bike and clean my house.  Man, my house sure has suffered.

Hopefully he'll crawl back, all apologies, begging your forgiveness. At that point, what you do with him is up to you.

All of that heavy baggage that you carried with you for so long has been shed. And if you find a shortage of things to be grateful for, at least you didn't have to wait the full 6 months for it to finalize, like I did.  :P

Happy New Year!   Let 2007 be better than 2006 (Please God!!!!!!!!!)

I broke down and did color my hair.  I just had to.  It looks nice except I missed a spot in the back of my head.  LOL   That's what I get for trying to do this myself but I have no choice but to try to learn.....

I will restart my diet and exercise program tomorrow. I've gained 10 pounds with all this crap....although I could be so much worse....

I think I have a couple of dates lined up.....I know it sounds soon but really, just because my divorce  was only final on the 19th, my marriage was over long before.....

I hope I don't lose anymore hair this year.   My hair has thinned enough that I can twist it up and hold it comfortably with a clip (for thick hair)...I could never have hoped for that before.  It's nice that I can do this, but I don't want to lose anymore!   LOL

Well, everyone.  Happy New Year!

Hello!!!!

So sorry I've been MIA, life just seems to get in the way.

Ok....hair--measured (by myself unfortunately....) and it seems to be 28 inches.  My waist is 31 inches so I'm pretty close!  LOL   However, I serously need a trim but I'm gonna make it wait a few months.

Still not being as good to my hair as I should be but what can you do when you get a winter like we're having.  Gotta use the hair dryer but just enjough to make myhair not be soaking wet when I leave the house in the morning.  And yes, I colored my hair but you know what, I like it so much better.  What's the point in having long healthy hair if you're not happy with it?  LOL

Life.....ex will be moving out over the next two weeks.  It will be really difficult especially since we're getting along really well.....

I'm restarting my obsession with diet and exercise as of today. I've gained some weight and that's not good.

We're getting snow again in Albuqueque.  I am sooooo tired of snow!  LOL

hmmmm....lets see....men confuse me--but unfortunately I seem to like that. LOL

My daughter got purple hair for Christmas from her dad.  It's not all purple, just the 'bang" area--it matches the snowboard he got her for christmas.  I was a little upset because it required bleaching her hair first and had I known that I would not have allowed it.  But, she loves it.  It is so her personality.  It's only a glimpse of things to come.  LOL  (She idolized Samantha on Danny Phantom--LOL)

Ok...hope everyone is doing well.

Is there any way that you could teach your daughter to help you measure your hair? I usually measure by myself with a hand mirror, but if my sister is around, I'll ask her to verify for me.

Long time no write.....I just didnt' have much to report in the way of hair!  LOL

However...I did finally get a trim yesterday and I love it.  I had seen the new Diane Keaton/Mandy Moore movie and just loved Mandy's hair....very long...layered...face framing...   Well, I went to my hair guy and didn't even mention the hair that I liked but instead I said "keep as much length as possible and do what you want"..and I got the perfect hair cut!  LOL

i know I complained so  much about my layers making it difficult for me to braid my hair and such...but I realized it was not so much the layers as it was the damaged ends that refused to cooperate!  LOL   I will have to do a little more styling but that's ok..I need to start predenting that I care what I look like and this will be just the boost I need.  He did take about three inches off, leaving my hair at perfect bra strap length....it will grow fast and I'm not at all concerned about how I'm further away from waist length thatn before....at least it looks and feels better and I won't be doing a S&D every time I'm on hold at work...driving my coworkers nuts!  LOL

I hope everyone is doing well.  My life...well.....I've been dating a couple of men....the second one I think has fizzeled out but the first one I still like and I think he likes me too!  LOL   I'm still keeping my options open....

Weight.....well...I have food issues when men become interested...stupid I know.  I've got to stop eating bad stuff and instead concentrate on good quality protein...not Flamin' Hot Cheetos!  lol

My sister got me an eliptical trainer for an early birthday present.  I need to use it.  I love the eliptical so I need to take advantage of the fact that I have one at my disposal 24/7.....

Talk to everyone soon...

hello, hello, hello.....so sorry to have been MIA for so long....I'm still alive, kicking, and have long hair too!  LOL

I've been preoccupied with life and thus, not spending much time devoted to my hair or diet....but I need to continue with both.

single life it just that...single...  I am seeing a nice man..but it's nothing offical as of yet...although I believe that we are seeing eachother exclusively....either that or he's really good at being two places at once.  LOL

Anyway....just wanted to stop by, say Hi....hope everyone is doing well!

Aww, hey Nan.  :)  Good to see you again, if only for a bit.

Best of luck with the new guy. And if, heaven forbid, it doesn't work out, you have all of your long-haired cyber sisters to break his legs and shave his head. hehehe  ;D

Keep on keepin' on.

Hello all.....long time no visit...I know.  LOL

My hair...I've been not very nice to it as of late, usign a lot of heat...but a girl has to do what she has to do sometimes.  Please forgive me!  LOL

My personal life...well...the new guy wigged out and we stopped seeing one another, but we are still frends and that is very important to me.

Getting more and more grey.....   uuuuggghhhh   :'(

Hello All!!!!!!

I know, I know..I've been MIA....i've become a myspace addict and that's not a good thing...but it's not a bad thing either!  LOL

Still have long hair...quite long in fact....it was almost to my waist but I had a trim about a month ago...it needed it.  My hair guy is great...I say "take as much as necessary but as little as possible".  LOL

I'm still struggling with singlehood and my weight...they will be struggles of mine forever probably...but that's ok...I'm so much happier now than when I was married.  I am far less lonely although I spend a fair amount of time alone...

I just want to thank you all for putting up with me in the last year...THANK YOU!

Thanx for checkin' in, Nan. As always, it's good to hear from you.  :)

Sounds like you're becoming more secure and comfortable with yourself, by yourself. Divorce had that effect on me too. Just look after you and hopefully the right guy will appear eventually. One who appreciates you the way you deserve!

And did I read that your hair is almost waist length now??  :o  That's aweseome! Keep on growin', sistah!

Welcome back!  Glad you stopped by and gave us an update.

Major life changes, like divorce always take some time to adjust to, but it sounds like you are adapting - that's great. Smile and take care of yourself.

hello, hello, hello!  Long time now show.  I'm sorry.  So much has happened in my world...don't even know where to begin.

Well...let's start by saying that I got married two weeks ago today.  I married....wait for it....my former husband.   ;D
Something happens when you realize that time apart makes you better friends, the man grows up a bit, the woman learns to communicate, and you both realize that sometimes there is a  plan for your lives.  So, here we are.

Hair is still long, just above the waist (like the bottom of the ribs) as I just cut 3 inches off before the wedding.  I am currently coloring my hair and trying to decide if bangs would make me look younger... hmmm....

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi..How is everyone else????

I will be back soon.

Thank you all for the warm re-welcome!   ;D

I have picutres but most are on my myspace, please feel free to go and look at any time.  The address should be on my profile.  My hair forthe wedding looks shorter than it is because it was curled.

Well...I will be back very soon.  Thanks again.
