Title: LongLocks Yahoo Messenger Chat
Post by bikerbraid on May 5th, 2006 at 9:10pm
Since Yahoo Groups no long has a chat room, I thought we could continue the chats using the Yahoo Messenger conference room.

To participate you will need to download the Yahoo! Messenger software.  You can do that here:

Yahoo! Messenger Download

If you were participating in the chats, I have tried to send you a notice requesting that I be added to your list.  If you don't see my request, you can add me to your list by going to the Contacts tab and click on Add a Contact.  Type in "bikerbraid" or "rsvkline" for the Yahoo ID and send your request to me.  I will approve you and if I am online, I will invite you into our conference room!

Come join in the fun!

Yes, a little late as usual, and I missed you. As you stated, you came up as an add-a-friend. Since you are a friend, I did the ADD thing and sent it back to you.

Note to anyone installing this software:

I unchecked every box available. It wants to be your defualt everything and check your outlook mailbox. It also wants to load on startup. Make sure you read the screens.

Thanks for warning everyone, Sir Rat.  I guess I should have mentioned that myself.  I turn off all the extras too.

Sorry we missed you last night - we had quite a crowd!

I've noticed tonight when I started the messenger thing that I'm getting lots of friend requests. I know some of the names but others I do not.

The ones I knew were added the same way Robin was added. Also, some of the ones I didn't know had a little blurb in a box as to who they were, so I added them, too.

So, what is the next step? I know you can do a one-on-one with this but I'm unsure how the conference works.

Sir Rat (and anyone else who is curious);
If I have you in my friends list, I will start the conference chat with the first person I find online.  I can then invite anyone else that is in my list, or by just putting in their messenger ID.  You would then get a little box pop up that tells you that I am inviting you to my chat.  All you do is click on it and you are in!

The conference/chat room will be familiar to anyone that used the old chat rooms.  It has the list of those in attendance and the chat dialog.

If you have set yourself up to always appear off-line, I will not know that you are available to join the chat.  If you prefer to leave it that way, they you will have message me (you should see me in your list as being online), and I can invite you once I know you are available to join the chat.

I hope that answers your questions.  ;D

The chat room is up and running..... Lisabelle and CurlGirl have already stopped by.  Come join me, look for bikerbraid or rsvkline logged in to Yahoo!Messenger.

Must still be missing something. I signed on to the little yellow smiley face. I even saw your little yellow smiling face. But it sounded like you exited through a door and your face went grey. I guess I was a little too late.

Curlgirl and Lisabelle and I had a nice chat tonight.  Unfortunately my computer froze up just as others were trying to come in and didn't hang around long enough for me to get the chat restarted.   :(

I'm not sure I will be around next Friday - we are heading out for the long weekend in our new RV for camping, biking and to attend a graduation.

I wish I could have heard you. Dern. Figured with the run of luck I've had this week, I came in just as it ended or something else went wrong.

Will try really really hard to chat with you next, ...wait, two weeks now that I remember you'll be vacationing. ;D

This week:
Dryer broke (fixed)
Attic fan broke (fixed)
Brakes on the van went (not fixed yet)
Faucet in the hall bath wouldn't shut off. (fixed maybe)
Engine dropped a valve in the van. (still deciding).
Missed chatting with a good friend cause her laptop crashed. (I may have caused it and out of my hands to fix)
:o

Sir Rat - You were NOT the cause of my laptop crashing.  I have been having a long run of bad luck, starting with the broken ankle, falling with said broken ankle, spraining the "good" ankle so that it now the bad ankle, doing a marathon training session at work and busting my butt to do a good job only to have the trainees not show up on time, leave early and generally not pay attention, finally feeling good enough to bike to work only to have it RAIN on me and have to turn back, then the finale, the laptop crashing in the middle of a really good chat with more people coming in.  ::)  :P :-/  Oh well, it can only get better - right?

Robin, we don't need a chat, we need a group therapy session to deal with our bad luck! We can do smiley cries on each other's shoulders... :'(

I thought that was what the chat was. ;D A few hugs in the room could do us all good.

Remembering back to some FLHC2 chats way back ..... were you there when we had the pillow fights?  A good pillow fight might just be what we need about now.
