Title: SHE WALKS!! Post by bikerbraid on Apr 19th, 2006 at 10:58pm
I did it! I'm walking without the boot and minimal use of crutches! I even drove hubby's car today! He has an automatic which is easier to drive than my manual.
There is hope for me yet!! |

Hey, that`s good. Well done.

Another grand advancement! I was finally able to put my old biking shoe on my right foot! Yippee!! I spent 20 minutes spinning on my bike and it felt great.
I'll keep spinning for a few more days before I venture out on the road on my bike. I'm not so worried about the physical biking part as much as I am stopping and having to put my foot down. My right foot is my balancing foot when I stop and start. (On the up side - it is my left foot that is my power stroke to get started!). |

I've kept hoping the swelling in my foot would decrease enough for the bike shoe to fit comfortably, but it just wasn't happening. So..... my dear, lovable, best friend, hubby decided I needed to buy the cycling sandals that I've wanted for several years, but could never justify.
We went out and got the sandals this morning - they felt great. Then we went for a bike ride. ;D 20 miles at a nice and easy pace. It was wonderful. Now I finally feel like recovery is in sight. |

Foot treats! Yippee!!! Nothing like toe rings, ankle bracelets and new sandals!!! Nice tootsie presents for when you ride....what could be better???? (Maybe yarn for knitting or crocheting ;D)

Toe rings and ankle bracelets are not on my list. I have the shortest, stubbiest toes around (I usually don't even have a toe nail on my little toes - they always rip off because there is so little nail bed). I don't think an ankle bracelet would fit around my fat ankle. Up until last year I NEVER wore an open toe sandal or shoe. My poor toes are so prone to being stubbed I need to protect them. But then I found Birkenstocks. :D The footbed is designed in such a way that my poor tootsies have enough protection. The same with my biking sandals. I'm not sure I'll ever wear them without socks, but who knows - I might. ;D (And as for the yarn - I have enough to open a store and am seriously considering starting to teach lessons!) |
Title: Re: SHE WALKS!! Post by Curlgirl64 on May 8th, 2006 at 12:16pm
:) I thought the same about my ankles, but I either wear 9 1/2 or 10 inches and I'm ok. The toe rings, well that's a yoga thing with me and I wear a rose gold one on the left side and a silver one on the right! :) THey are too comfortable and have been there 4 years already!!
When I was heavy I had an ankle chain that was 12 inches so I know you ankles are just fine ;D Teach class?? Go for it!!!! |
Title: Re: SHE WALKS!! Post by Lisabelle on May 8th, 2006 at 12:28pm wrote on May 8th, 2006 at 12:16pm:
I'm the other way around! I have such tiny feet! I'm a 7 but they look like a 5. I've got a silver ring on my second toe on the right foot. Had it there for years and no problems. I love ankle braclets too but always manage to break them. :P I also think you should teach knitting Robin, it would be great! ;D |
Title: Re: SHE WALKS!! Post by Curlgirl64 on May 8th, 2006 at 12:35pm
no no,Lisabelle!! I wear a 7 1/2 wide or 8 in shoe size,but wear either a 9 1/2 inche or 10 inches in ankle chains!! ;D You do have tiny feet!! :) ;)

Title: Re: SHE WALKS!! Post by Lisabelle on May 8th, 2006 at 2:40pm
Oh I see! ::) I know my feet are little when I can wear Japanese zori's, of which, are very small. 8)

Title: Re: SHE WALKS!! Post by Curlgirl64 on May 8th, 2006 at 3:33pm
It's ironic that I have a wide foot, but I wear size 4 or 6 in clothing!!! Alot of people (clothes manufacturers in particular) think that because you have a wide foot that you weigh alot! ::) :)
