Title: Agatha P. has cancer Post by 13bodies on Feb 27th, 2006 at 3:18pm
I took my cat Agatha P. to the vet on Saturday and she confirmed that Agatha has metastatic cancer (cancer that has spread throughout the body). We don't know how long she has, but the vet said she'd do better if she isn't stressed out.
Agatha has feline leukemia and had to be locked up in my guest room so she wouldn't give it to the other cats, but she hates it so. My mom agreed to take her so she could run free for however long she has left. I'm a mess. I've cried all weekend, and I'm tearing up now just writing about it. :'( She's only 6 years old. :-[ |

Wow. :o I'm so sorry. That's awful! Have you had her for the whole 6 years? Animals don't understand which makes it so much harder for us.
I'm thinking of the both of you. Love from CA. Meg |

(((13bodies and Agatha P.)))
It is so hard to watch pets be sick and know they don't have long. :'( |

I'm so sorry. It is so hard to deal with a pet's certain death. I wish you strength and courage to deal with this situation and know that when the time comes and Agatha P crosses the rainbow bridge, she will be with all the other pets that have crossed before her that will play with her and keep her happy.

I'm so sorry about your kitty, 13bodies. 6 years old, that is pretty young for a cat--I hope she doesn't suffer too much and that she goes peacefully when her Maker calls her home.

That is terrible news, 13bodies. You have my deepest sympathies. :'(
My first dog was only 6 years old when we had to put her down. She had cancer too - lymphoma. I'll never forget that awful feeling when I was told that she had only 6 months to live. And then losing her...GOD. :'( Anyway, I totally know where you're coming from. It's hard, it's unfair, it's horrible. I'm so sorry you have to go through this - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But at least you don't have to go through it alone. God be with you and Agatha P. in this very difficult time. Hang in there. |

So sorry to hear that. She's very blessed to have you as her mom. It says a lot about you as a person, the fact that you would selflessly let her live out her days in freedom rather than keep her confined and unhappy. Hugs and prayers to you, and a scratch behind the ears to Agatha.

I am crying with you :'( 6 years is no age for a cat. At least she has you and she had the best cat-life ever!
I hope she will go in her sleep and don't feel much pain. ((((((((hugs))))))) When my kiddos were little and we lost our cat, I told them that he (Sodo) is in cat heaven now and that he sits on a big cloud every day and watches us. Every time the kids saw a cloud in the sky, they would wave and shout out: "hello Sodo, how are you? We love you" |

I'm so sorry about Agatha. :( I know what it's like to loose a pet to illness. I'm glad to hear your mom gave her some room - she'll be happy being able to roam around. You did the best thing you could do for her sake! You are a good kitty-mom. *hugs*

Thanks for the support everyone.
We think Agatha's doing well, but no-one has seen her since she got to Mom and Dad's Sunday. ::) They've heard her, though, mewing through the house all night. She's got to come around sometime. :P

I hope she'll adjust well. Having a pet so ill is difficult.
It sounds like you're doing great job in arranging her a good enviroment. :) |

Agatha P. died Friday night. :'(
Mom and Dad were going to take her to the vet on Saturday, so she was in her carrier with the shirt I used to wear when I petted her. Mom loved on her and gave her some food and water. When they got up Saturday morning, she was dead. Dad buried with her favorite toy out back under the tree. I'm handling this surprisingly badly; it took me by surprise. I thought she had weeks left, not days. :-[ RIP Agatha P. |

I am so sorry for your loss. Only another pet owner understands the grief of the loss of a pet.
If you are not familiar with The Rainbow Bridge I recommend reading it. It can give you some comfort during this time. |

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die... :'( |
