Post by unholyconfessions_ on Dec 23rd, 2005 at 10:51am
ahhhh my hair is just crazy at the moment. its a few inches below my shoulders and in pretty good condition but it gets so greasy so i have to wash it every day. but i get a greasy patch at the back of my head! its so annoying because it just looks greasy and its not anywhere else. i have to have my hair up to hide it and im just so sick of it :( ive had it for about 2 months now and it only seemed to go for about 3 days after i got my hair cut at Toni & Guy hairdressers (and they washed it too) i use toni & guy shampoo some days and trevor sorbie detox shampoo other days and ive tried just about every shampoo imaginable inc. baby shampoo, mint shampoo, herbal essences, shampoo for greasy hair, shampoo for normal hair, kids shampoo. ARGH!!!! it just annoying me so much. it never used to be like this. it was fine up until i used tesco apple shampoo twice and it just made a patch at the back of my head so greasy. its never gone back to normal in 2 months!!

pleeaaase help me. im going to see a hairdresser today for some help but if you have any advice its v v v welcome :) im 14 btw.

Most likely the greasy spot is not the result of the shampoo you used.  At your age, excess oil production is not unusual.  You might try a vinegar rinse and see if that helps at all, but most likely this is just a phase your body is going through.

I'm sure this is terribly frustrating for you!  In your desperate attempts at making this go away, be sure that you're not over washing/scrubbing that area.  If you irriatate it, I'd bet it will get worse.  Actually, you might need a moisturizing shampoo/condish after trying the vinegar rinse.  If that tesco apple shampoo dried out your scalp the over oil production is the scalp trying to heal itself.  Be gentle and patient.  Its true, at your age it may just be a temporary thing.  Washing every day with a gentle product that is the right type for your hair and skin should not be a big deal.  Treat your scalp like the skin on the rest of your body-gently!

Good Luck-let us know what works out for you!!!

Oooohh! How unfortunate. I can imagine how frustrating that must be. When I was 14 my hair did odd things like that too. As the girls have already said, gentle and methodic shampooing and conditioning will help over time. Not over night.  ;D
