Title: Conditioners without proteins Post by Gwynalah on Dec 4th, 2005 at 10:13pm
Does anyone know any good conditioners that have neither amino acids nor proteins in them? I've been using Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle & Rose, but it seems to be making the ends of my hair "sticky" and dull lately. I have mid-back length straight, average thickness (of the hair shaft) hair.

Proteins tend to build up on the hair. Have you tried a clarifying shampoo? Another option might be to try a vinegar rinse.
Do you use oils on your hair in addition to the conditioner? If so, try not using the oil, or change the type of oil you use. Some oils will "bond" with the protein and cause crunchy-ness. Again, clarifying usually resolves the problem. |

No, the Aubrey one I mentioned does not have proteins in it. I cut out proteins almost a year ago. What I am asking is for recommendations of protein-free conditioners I can try since the one I'm using is apparently not so great for my hair. :) It's very difficult to find conditioners without proteins or amino acids!

Man, I can't think of any. I was going to suggest Giovanni's 50:50 conditioner, but I checked and there's soy protein towards the bottom of the list. :P
