Title: Rag curlers? Post by Bardic Love on Oct 15th, 2005 at 4:56pm
The other day when I got home from work I dook my hair down. I'd had it in hairsticks all day and the updo was tight(if not they fall down). Anyway, when I took my hair out I had the most lovely curls. They lasted all about five minutes, my hair is terrible at holding any kind of style for a long time. I've heard people suggest rag curls might be a way to get these lovely curlies back. Would rag curls really hold up in my un-stylable hair without product? Is there a certain way it should be done to get the best results?

I love rag curls, but I have yet to perfect the technique to get good curls each time.
First it took a long time for me to figure out how to wrap my hair around the cloth. What I'm doing now is securing the hair with a band, then wrapping and twisting my hair around the cloth. When I get to the end, I wrap this in a bun and pull the ends of the cloth through it to tie a knot. I've had the best results doing this with one pony tail and I get great curls from the chin down. When I try it on smaller sections my hair tangles and turns into frizz. I keep trying though. I use this method for sock curling at night (same as rag curls really), or for an updo during the day using a scarf, then I can take my hair down for great evening hair. I get compliments on the updo too. Since your hair doesn't hold curl very well, I'd add some aloe vera gel before putting it up. This can be mixed with oil if you want. Also, wrapping wet or damp hair and leaving it up till it dries should give very long lasting curl. I saw your pictures on livejournal, did you post them here too? I love waves I get from buns. Their soft and don't always last long, but my hair is always smooth and looks good down after having it up all day. |

I didn't post them here no, but I didn't know you were on there. What's your name on there? ;D (I'll feel really blind if it's the same as here.)
