Title: Emergency!Please help! Botched Color ! Post by acadia3197 on Sep 23rd, 2005 at 4:03pm
Any and all suggestions are welcomed! I dyed my hair this morning and it came out a BRIGHT, deep red-- it's actually kinda cool/punky but I'm an assistant manager of a bank and CANNOT have it this bright! I was just wondering, besides washing my hair a million times until it fades, does anyone have any suggestions on how to tone this color down ASAP? Thank you sooooo much!!!!!!! :o

Hi, acadia3197. Wow, I'm sorry this has happened! Have you called a salon or maybe Sally's Beauty supply and asked them for help? I don't have any personal experience with this issue. Maybe do an applecider vinegar and lemon juice with water rinse?
Could you cover your hair with a scarf until it tones down? Tell people its early Halloween? (just kidding-you did say all suggestions welcome ;D) Good Luck! Let us know what worked and how it turned out. |

ouch! Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I know there are products that will help strip or fade color, but I'm not familiar with them myself. Contacting a beauty supply store like Sally's or going to a salon might be the best idea.

so sorry to hear about your hair :-/, a apple vinegar
rinse, or if you have a sallys beauty supply near by you could try sally's Ion Purifying Solutions Crystal Clarifying Treatment i read about a woman who used it to remove her henna and it worked. HTH :) p.s. sorry i couldn't put a link to sally's, but it doen't work when i do it :-/ |

Maybe a clarifying treatment would be a good idea.
Lucky for you, red is often called the 'fugitive haircolor.' It fades the fastest out of any color. See if it fades before going to get it professionally touched up at a salon. It could save your hair a ton of damage. |

I'm not sure about color removal. But I *think* for semi-permanents, it will come out the same way as henna - see this thread for details:

I'm sorry about your ordeal. If it turns you are just going to wait it out, I wish you speedy fading! Cynde |

If at all possible, wait a few weeks. Your hair will be very porous for a while, and any bleach applied to the hair will make it dry and wiry.
I'm speaking from past experiences ::) |
