Title: Gabi invited me here....
Post by Zaftig on Aug 30th, 2005 at 5:02am
Thanks Gabi for inviting me here....this looks like a friendly place to hang out.  I'll give it a shot...

My name is Sandie, and I am a long hair from way back.  Currently my hair is 33.5" long, rather fine, slight waves and blonde with some lighter blonde and silver highlights.  I'm in the over 50 crowd who refuses to conform and cut!!  I've been posting on another long hair board for a while, which is where I met Gabi.

My general hair routine right now, is CWC.  I use Chagrin Valley Natural Shampoo Bars, and for conditioners I use Mega-Tek, and Fresh F21c Pomegranate Conditioning Rinse.  I self trim...I have had a hairdresser's license for over 30 years, although I haven't worked in the business for many moons.  I also use oils and butters on occasion, although lightly. I would like to grow to classic (about 42") if I don't get too impatient.  Right now, my hair is the longest it has ever been.

Most of the time I wear my hair up just to protect it.  But I like wearing it down as well.  I have quite a hair accessory collection of hair sticks, (mostly ones that I have made), hair forks, scrunchies, barrettes and hair pins.  Like most obsessive long hairs, I love to play with my hair and the hair toys!

I am a clothing designer of womens plus sized clothing (sizes 2X-8X ).  I also design and make Lampwork beaded jewelry and HairStyx©.  All of whitch I sell on my web site and in my Ebay Store.  I'm married with a wonderfull & handsome husband.  We have one grown daughter who is married, and an adorable 11 yr old Grandson.  We are Scottish and parrticipate in Scottish Highland games frequently.   DH and Grandson own and wear their kilts!  :) We live in sunny So Cal near the beach and love it here!

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi and welcome!

I've seen you at LHC- you have cutest avvy ever (I'm not saying this only because I'm a plus-sized blonde myself...;D).

I hope you'll enjoy your time around here.

Welcome Zaftig!

Glad to see you over here.  We're a bit (ok a LOT) smaller than "over there", but we still have a lot of fun.  Check out Natural_Rouge's Diamond party - we were planning on him wearing a kilt!

Wrap your kilt??  Should I take it to mean that you have an Ancient Kilt (the whole 9 yards that needs wrapping??)  Wow....well laddie, if that is the case, it is best to pleat your plaid on the floor then lie down and wrap up, then belt, and toss the remainder o'er your shoulder and pin with your brooch.

Or, you can come up to modern times and buy the kind that just buckles on...lots easier.  Or, you can take the cheapest and easiest way out, and go to www.sportkilt.com.  That is where we got Grandson's kilt.  He does the Scottish Athletics, and it is an easier (less fabric) kilt to wear than a formal kilt.

Be sure that you get a Sporran, Kilt Belt, Hose, Flashes, and Ghille Brogues (shoes), not to mention a great Jacobite shirt.  You gotta look the part.

Probably more than you really wanted to know about kilt wearin', but hey I am a Scot, aye!   ;D

Nice ta meet ya!!  BTW...great hair!!!

When in the country (Scotland) I speak Scottish and Gaelic, but I've no accent...born and raised in the US. I sound more like a California girl.   My family are all from Scotland...and if you like accents, you should hear a family gathering....you  likely wouldn't understand a work being said.   ;D

Welcome Zaftig!   ;D

I'm also a member of the Scottish diaspora, being a member of the Wallace clan.  So true about the accents - I know when I was in Scotland several years ago there were several (Glasgow and Highlands) I had a lot of trouble with.  Bless their hearts though, they could all do a BBC accent at need!

Hi Sandie, Welcome!!  I've seen your stuff on eBay - beautiful designs.  I am still a newbie to LHC, but I remember seeing you in the artwork thread.  Love the avatar!

This board definitely has a more cozier feel, IMO.  It's like "home" for me.  :)

That's how I feel about LL. Probably explains why I haven't joined another longhair site. ^_^

Zaftig- would you say the Megatek is worth it?
I've been trying to stay away from sulfates and"cones
but My hair really needs strengthening if it's going to get any longer(fine+color treated)
The website really makes big promises-30% stronger- helps with hair fallout, ect.
I've tried so many things though- that really don't seem to quite deliver- or maybe it's my hair.
Also- did you like the shampoo? Is it as gentle as it says.
The websites don't shopw ingredients but I think I did fine the ingredients somewhere else awhile ago and it has SLES (I think)
I noticed you have mentioned using it!  Thanks!

Hi Babyfine...

I'm happy to share my experiences with Eqyss products.  I had used the Premier Shampoo and Conditioner for 2 years, and they did pretty well for my hair.  The thing I love the most was the smell...just totally yummy!!

I stopped using the shampoo about 9 months ago, because I decided to stop using shampoos with sulphates.  I still use the MegaTek because I think it does help....and help I need.  I have had a horrible shed over the last two years, and have lost about 1/3 of my volume.  I think it is hormonal/menopausal related.  Anyway my hair is recovering from that, and I am convinced that the MegaTek makes a difference.  It actually only has one cone in it...Dimethicone, and it is a little further down on the list...so I don't think it hurts. And as said before it smells fab...like coconut.

Hope that helps!!

Sandie

Well...if you ever need any info Scotland/Scottish related...just let me know.  I've got tons of wonderful links on related stuff.  I still get a regular weekly newsletter from Scotland on current events and news.

Thanks,Zaftig!
I've been wanting to try the Mega-Tek- but I've been apprehensive because like you, I'm not using shampoos with sulfates right now and I'm afraid that the without them I won't be able to get all the cones out.  I think MegaTek has cones, right.?
Right now I'm on a on a  no-sulfate- no silicone thing.
My hair is  very thin, fine and fragile and could probably benifit from it (the Mega Tek).
