Title: All Alone
Post by Moonchild on Aug 14th, 2005 at 7:33pm
I feel terribly lonely tonight. My hubby went on a business trip. I done cleaned the master bathroom and rearranged my daughter's old room. Tomorrow night I will start painting our living room. I don't mind being by myself for a while, but I need talking .....interaction with other people. Today is very bad. It is raining. Everything grey and it got dark already around 9 pm. I miss my kiddos...both of them are in the mid-west going to college there. I talked to my daughter already and my darling son is to tired to be bothered by his mother right now. Poor thing. My hubby called and I am trying to be all cheerful on the phone cause I don't want him to worry about me. So. I have my dogs and my cat. They are excellent listeners. ha ha ha ......And my best friend PCSed back to the states last week. My next best friend is on vaccation in Florida for the next 3 weeks. I CAN"T EVEN CALL ANYONE...urg I should just go to bed and continue reading the book I bought yesterday (The DaVinci Code).
Okay. Thanks for the time.
Hugs for all of you !

Awwww - I'm sympathize - I hate not having my pack around me.

REading with music is good.  Cuddling the fuzzbutts helps - they are probably feeling the quiet too so talking to them does help all around.

Hey, and post a lot - computers can make time fly.

Hugs to ya, gabi

I think I call the kiddos again.  It wouldn't be so bad if we would at least be on the same continent.....oh well. Wah, wah.  I need to quit my whining.  :-/

OOHHHH The Da Vince Code!!  I loved that book and have you read his first book Angels and Demons, it's just as great!! That will definately make time fly. I do sympathize about being alone.  We have been in our currently location about two years and I really miss all our friends in our old town :-/

Ya know, ya miss 'em terribly when they're gone :'(, and when they're all home and under foot :P
So, I hope you find some peace in the quiet, and I hope they all get back soon so you don't feel so lonely.

Aww well we're here to keep you company!  It sounds like today would be a nice day to experiment with new 'do's.  That makes the time pass really fast!  And you can surprise your hubby with a new style you've learned when he gets back.

Happy reading!  Oh yeah, tea or hot choco makes alone time much nicer.  More like "me time" than "alone time".  Ohohoh another idea - bubble bath!

Moonchild!  I totally understand how you feel!  My hubby goes to China on business at least twice a year for 2 weeks at a time.  We don't have human kids, our babies are 4-legged and meow.  Maybe you can pick up an old hobby you've let go w/a family to take care of.
Hang in there-I always pray for my guides and angles to stand around my bed when I sleep while he's gone so I don't feel so lonely.
Good Luck!

Awww (((hug)))

I actually enjoy being alone. I'm a hermit character, and though I prefer to be with my spouse, I don't mind if I have to spend a week or so all alone. During that time I don't usually meet much friends (truth is, I don't have many friends and it's my own choice) but spend "quality time" myself.

When I realize that I'm alone, I usually think of what I want to do. I just sit and think of that for a while. In normal course of life, there are so many things that I don't do though I would like to- because I don't have time, or because my spouse is there. I'm not talking of anything really weird- simple things like extensive periods of playing with hairstyles, watching brainless action movies are things that I enjoy but spouse doesn't. I get to listen music that I like more than he does, do things that require much concentrating like drawing or writing... these and many more things are most enjoyable when you're alone.
I take my occassional periods of loneliness as "my time". I don't try to preseve my normal routines. I work late in the evening and may do something fun at daytime. I go for long walks- normally I'd prefer to spend that time with spouse. I prepare some food that I like but that spouse doesn't...make best out of my time alone in every way.

My advice is, that if you're trying to live as usual when you're alone, you'll only end up feeling sad because in your normal life people are all around you and you just can't do the same stuff without them all. So, I encourage you to do something completely different. :)
Now I can hear you saying "But all I want is to be with my family". Sit down. Think. I'm sure you'll start to get ideas. Big or small, silly or creative- use your time alone to explore them, and you'll end up having quite a good time. :)

(((hug)))

I am pretty much the same "hermit" type as Galadriel,  There are lots of things I like to do alone because I can't be interrupted, like drawing, painting, working out.  I sit endlessly writing on hair forums.  Just kidding!

Do you like to make things?  One time when my boyfiriend was gone for 2 weeks I went to Michaels (a craft store) and just walked around until ideas started popping in my head of what to make.  That kept me busy for about a week.  Other things would be to read.  You mentioned reading the Da Vinci Code.  What about something lighthearted and humourous.  One of my favorite comical adventure books is by Barry Hughart and is called "The Bridge of Birds; a story of an Ancient China that Never Was"  It was so good I finished it in 2 days.

I can recommend some other not so intense books - just let me know.

You are all great  :) Thanks!

ChiliPepper: No, I haven't read Angels and Demons yet. I guess. that will be next  :)

PreciousLocks: Yep. Like my Grandma used to say: "Love to see you guys coming, but I like to see y'all leaving too..."  My kiddos are home only twice a year. During summer and x-mas for their semester breaks.  (My hubby recently retired from the US Army and we decided to stay in Germany) Both of them are planning to come back to Europe ASAP.  ;D Our daughter left for college 2 1/2 years ago, our son left last year July. So, I should be used to it, but I guess, I am not. :)

khrome: Thanks!  :)And yes, you guys are really nice company. The LongLocks Salon is my first experience with boards and talking on the internet with folks I don't know. Still feels a little strange  ;D  And yes, I had the bubble bath, and a nice cup of hot tea (black cherry)while I was reading........ :)

Sakina:  :)Thanks! Yes, you are right. Time goes by a lot faster when you have something to do. My problem is the evening hours, when hubby and would chit-chat, go for walks or watch movies together. I have another "fun" project picked out for tonight: cleaning out the storage room in the basement.

Galadriel:  :) I don't have a lot of friends neither. Also by choice. I know a lot of folks, but that doesn't mean that I want to spend time with them or talk to them about what bothers me.
I just have a bad time. Maybe my hormones are going haywire. Who knows!  :)
See, hubby and I can watch the brainless action movies together....great source of entertainment after a stress day at work. What kind of music are you listening too?

Hubby and I both like Country. He don't care for my Rock CD's . I listen to AC/DC, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, VanHalen, ZZ Top, Blue Oyster Cult, Airosmith, Bad Company,  Green Day and a bunch of others.
I like dancing to HIP HOP and -of course- every Friday night I go line dancing. Hubby only does the 2Step. The rest of the time he sits and watches and listens to the music.
Thanks for the hugs :)

I listen to ......Bad Company......

Ohhh  :D One of my favourite songs EVER is their "Ready for Love" song. It's a hymn, a motto, a wish, a dream for me....
I just wanted to share that with you Moonchild, it touched something inside me.

Btw did you like DaVinci's Code? I enjoyed it very much, I read it through a loooong flight. Interesting reading.

I listen mostly metal, like Nightwish, Within Temptation (I clearly have a thing for female vocalists), Rammstein and such. The music that I like but spouse disapproves are movie soundtracks (Last Samurai, for example, had a great soundtrack) and fantasy music like Era, Adiemus etc.
WhenT's away, I've been known to listen loudly also some less fashionable metal like Def Leppard and Manowar.  ::)

Yes sir buddy  ;D Def Leppard it is  ;D

And loud is good too  ;D

When hubby gets in my truck to go fishing he's complaining about how loud the music is....hehehe
But I know better: it's the KIND of music he dislikes  ;D
