Are ceramic flat irons really better for your hair?
i know that heat damages hair, but i was just wondering :P

Hi Beesan16,

Well, I use to sell the ceramic ones at work over the metal as they did not have "teeth" on the edges of the iron, making it a little safer and more smoother. But, mind you, I use to use these irons and not only does the heat damage the hair but the montion of "ironing the hair" also caused lots of hair breakage at the top of the head. What is safer IMO is it use large smooth rollers to straighten the hair.

Did something just jump out of my hair, Potter??

What about the new ceramic round brushes? Do you think they are better/worse/just a sales gimmick?

Very few hair types can truly handle round brushes without breakage, let alone a ceramic one. Yikes! :o

I'm not really sure, but I would guess it's a sales gimmick.. Just because I think it's the heat that damages your hair, rather than the material that the tool is made of is made of.

Beesan16 - oh yeah I'm a Potter fan, I've been sorted to Gryffindor house and am still reading Order of the Phoenix, almost done! Hubby is a Ravenclaw. Last year when my hair was short black and messy I was wearing my black cape and glasses and people kept calling me Harry! ( the handknitted Gryffindor scarf did not help) I thought Harry doesn't wear makeup!? LOL!

I haven't seen the ceramic round brushes but like Anais Satin said I wouldn't trust them. When I was little and had lots of long hair, round brushes were a nighmare to me. I had one caught in my hair and had to have it cut out! :'(
