Title: Found cones in my shampoo! Post by Bardot on Aug 4th, 2005 at 10:34pm
First of all thank you for all the great advice I have read on this board. I didn't even know what a cone was until I came here! :)
Okay now my rant. . . Two weeks ago I bought Jason's natural biotin shampoo thinking I am doing a really good thing because there is no SLS in it or anything. But I noticed my hair was feeling dry and brittle and couldn't figure out why. So I finally decide to look at the ingredients on the bottle and I find cones! :o I didn't even know I had to watch out for cones in shampoo. I have only been checking my conditioner and I figured since the bottle had "natural" on it there wouldnt be any cones or harsh stuff. So after that disaster I checked my styling products and I found a ton of cones. I couldn't believe that the first ingredient for "Frizz Ease" is a type of cone! Thanks to this board I learned that my hair hates cones so I have been avoiding them like crazy. Guess I haven't been doing a good job! ;D So anyway, I am sorry if this is old news but I was just so shocked by everything. Also, I was wondering if anyone knows of any good styling products such as leave-in conditioners or straightening lotions that do not have cones in them? And thanks again for everything! :D |

WELCOME!
Ahh, the deadly -cones have attacked again! 8) Yes, Frizz Ease if chocked full of -cones. Every kind of -cone there is! I consider it super glue for hair. It glues down the damaged cuticle making your hair look smooth and shiney. Unfortunately, it is also making it stiff and prone to breakage. Glad you've learned a bit from your visit. Hope to see ya around more! |

Pantene typically has lots of -cones. Some people's hair can handle the -cones. If you think your hair likes this product, you can minimize any potential problems with the -cones, a vinegar rinse on a regular basis will remove any build up of the cones.

Welcome to the forums bardot!! It's definately trial-and-error when it comes to cones. I'm going to praise Biolage Conditioning Balm and Ausse Three Minute Miracle. They truly saved my hair. If you want a good leave in, I sometimes dilute the Conditioning balm.
Beesan: Biosilk is incredibly expensive. The cool thing is this: Sally's Beauty Supply (or an equivalent thereof) sells a generic line that can be compared to brands such as Biosilk and Paul Mitchell. I can't tell the difference between the name brand and generic. |

one last question: what about the panten clarifying shampoo? i'm sorry bardot that i can't help you with my own advise, but you can probably get something from the questions i asked :) |

Thank you so much for the replies! :) You are all so nice!
I love Biolage too! Now I need to try the biosilk and the Aussie. I don't know if anyone has tried this conditioner before but I really like Moisture Maniac conditioner by Tigi. I have also noticed some hair products with sunflower oil. I wonder if that would be good to apply to hair in its pure form? Thanks a bunch ;D By the way. . . Does anyone here live in CT? I know of a hair salon here that will have like 40-50% off all of its hair care products like Matrix, Redken, Back to Basics, Tigi, Nexxus, and Paul Mitchell. It will be held as a sidewalk sale taking place for three days coming up in August! I think I'm gonna buy one of everything! |

Welcome Bardot - can we assume that you are a Bridget Bardot fan?
I've used cones in the past and I agree with the BB gang here ;D. They are not all made alike and clarifying and if you feel comfortable doing so even switching off for awhile can really help your mileage ...g |

Welcome to the boards, Bardot! Alba makes a leave-in that doesn't contain cones. You can look at their site www.albabotanica.com and see their other products. I have medium-corse hair and bought the leave-in for fine hair by mistake. Since it was the wrong one for my hair type, it didn't do too much. :P
I'm not sure how using pure sunflower oil would work. A lot of people here use jojoba oil (actually a wax), but it's a bit expensive. |

Wow, thanks again! :D
I really like that Alba website. Their prices seem really fair so I'm gonna have to check out their stuff (I think the spray gel is just what I need). At the store today, I also bought two new shampoos without cones - one by Shikai and one by Nature's Gate. I also bought an all natural conditioner . . . I should do reviews on all this stuff because I would like to contribute something to the boards! :D Oh, and yea I like Brigitte Bardot and French films. I used to watch them all the time when I was learning French. Her character in ". . and God Created Woman" sooo reminds me of myself which is probably not good. ;D |

Please do write reviews! They're always helpful to someone.
Oooh la la! Brigitte Bardot was a sexy lady. I think our modern Claudia Schiffer looks like her. Nice to meet you! :D Anais |

LOL - my husband was utterly besotted with Bardot in that movie.
I'm always amazed how her look is equally hot by todays standards. Now don't go romancing any brothers though ;D...g |

Thanks, it's nice to meet all of you guys too! :D
I'm gonna try to do some product reviews today which I hope I don't stink at! Oh, I am 22 yrs old and I think Brigitte Bardot is a better role model than all those other girls out there today like Lohan and Hilton, blech :P. And actually my best friend and I dated two brothers in college when we were in highschool. I only thought my guy was hot though! ;) |
