Many of us may post "your mother wears combat boots" type of things that you will have to edit, or make big honking pictures you have to resize, ohhhhh, the things we can think of and I can claim you haven't taught me that ;D Seriously, WELCOME HOME |

I'm BAAAAACK!!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome back, everyone. I had a great vacation - a total escape. Unfortunately, the world did not cooperate in playing nice so I come home to find London the victim of terrorist attacks and Hurricane Dennis about to hit land. On a positive note, the Minnesota legistlature has finally gotten off their butts and passed an interium budget so that things can return to "normal" (ever pass through a state with all the rest stops closed??). Hubby and I got in lots of biking - some on new trails, some on our favorite trails. The upper 90's temps at the end of the week were a bit of a surprise, especially in northern Minnesota. The important thing is we had fun! I'm trying to catch up as fast as I can. So far it looks like you all behaved yourself and Gabi did an excellent job. (I guess I'd better spiff up my act or I will lose my job here!). OK, off to read more fun posts!! ;D |

I'm glad you guys had a good time (except for the rest stop thing. Eep!) My brother is an avid mountain biker, so if you ever need some trail recommendations in Southern California, let me know and I'll ask him.

whew - where did I go? Let's see if I can explain...
We spent a couple days in northern Minnesota on our land (south of Duluth). Then we drove to eastern Wisconsin (Appleton, Menasha, Neenah) to spend the holiday with family and do a couple of short 20 - 30 mile bike trips in town. From there, we headed towards Fond de Lac, and rode 50 miles on the Wild Goose bike trail near the Horicon Marsh. Our next stop was near Wilton WI to bike the tunnels on the Elroy-Sparta bike trail (45 miles). We headed east to Menomonie WI and biked the Cedar River trail (finishing in the rain! after 22 miles). Then back north to our land again for another day of moving gravel. Our last day of vacation we headed towards Duluth MN to bike the Munger trail up the bluffs and back (32 miles). Then home to Minneapolis. Lots of miles driven in the RV and 199 miles biked! [Now I need a vacation to rest up from my vacation!] |
