Hi All,

I do not have an A/C and we have been having temp of 31c or 89f. :P  My head gets sweaty even though I have my hair up.  We have been taking alot of showers but I just rinse my hair in plain water.  Is this a good idea?  I don't want to wash it as I only wash once to twice a week.

Isn't summer just wonderful??

We are in the midst of a heat wave.  Our humidity is at the tropical level :P  I frequently just rinse my hair with cool water - no shampoo, no conditioner - when I need to freshen up and don't have time for the whole routine.

When I bike to work, I'm pretty sweaty by the time I get home in the afternoon.  I prefer to at least condition my hair, but don't always have time.  I will then do just a quick vinegar rinse (very diluted).  This seems to rid my hair of the sweat without over drying.

I've lived through temperatures well over 40C! 31 is easy! *ducks* (we don't have airconditioning here either)

but I hate having sewaty hair, so I would wash it with cold water (I don't usually have hot showers in summer, warm or cool only)

but I also fine with the heat, not what you asked, but loose 'dos made my hotter, a firm braid or bun feels better to me, cos loose seems to get hot and sweaty

Kathleen yes I have to have my hair up too.  If it just touching my neck I feel hotter. Today is going to be 40! Must get the housework done before the sun gets too high :P

Oof - my sympathies, here too right now.  Can't even get dry out of the shower.

This is when you want one of those nice shower attachments - the vinegar rinse should be perfect, acid counteracting alkaline ... try not to move  ;D, g

Gabi,  LOL!  ;D What I do is keep a tub of water going and just relax in it when the heat gets too much.  Something like a japanese bath.   8)

Ah yes, hot summer weather is something I live with too. It's usually not a bother unless I'm doing quite a bit of running around. Rinsing my hair in cold water usually seems to help it feel a bit cleaner, and I would guess braiding or wearing it up between that would be of help as well. I've never tried vinegar rinse before, but perhaps I should look into it.

Bardic Love - if you use cold it's a good idea to use warm/hot first - disolve the oils better.  I realize if you are on the run that's not always an option...g

True, or without power. I'm in florida, and this time of year (hurricane season) we don't always have power, so, no hot water. If it's an option then I usually use warm water first though. :)

I hope you are not in the path of this most recent hurricane. If so, you have my positive thoughts for it to pass quickly and do minimal damage.

As for heating water without electricity - I do this frequently when primitive camping (no running water or electricity).  Fill a large black pot (with a lid is best) and set it in the sun.  In about 3 hours you will have warm water.  Another option is to purchase at a camping supply store, a solar shower bag.  It is basically a black plastic bladder that you fill with water and place in the sun to warm it.  It also has a hose with a "shower head" on it which is great for rinsing the hair.

Well, here we go again!  Another week of hot weather in southern Ontario. 90 degree's all week! :P  Updo's have really helped along with ACV rinsing!  Thanks agiain Bikerbraid!  :D

Yep, we are at 9 days in a row over 90 and there are 4 more in the forecast here in Minnesota.  Glad the suggestion is helping.
