Title: House hunting Post by Valerie on Jun 19th, 2005 at 1:15am
My husband and I have been house hunting for a few months now. We've outgrown the place we're in now, and are very much ready to not share walls with our tenants, (and my family).
We found one we liked today and put in a contract. According to the listing agent, we have the best bid in so far. We should know by the middle of the week if they accept it or not. Please send us happy house-vibes. If this is the right place for us, we'll get it, and if it isn't someone else will outbid us. |

Congrats for finding a good house! :D *sends good vibes* I agree, if it's the right one, you'll get it.
I and spouse are just beginning our house hunt today. We're going to see 3 houses this weekend-on tuesday. I'm not sure whether any of them is the right one, but the hunt has begun! ;D So happy to be finally on the way towards a bigger home. |

Sending positive thoughts for both Valerie and Galadriel in getting the house of your dreams! :)

Thanks Autumn! Good luck Galadriel!
I had truly given up. Our price range is very limited for what we want, and all we have seen the past few weeks have been homes with major structural damage. One home had a built in fountain for the dogs and cats. Except that it was actually just a hole in the foundation that had filled with water. Even if we don't get this one, I at least feel better that what we want actually exists. |

We have a petting zoo. ::) The house is really for them, since all of our 'must haves' revolve around them. |

ooooooo - house hunting. It is a time to really find out how compatible you are with your partner! I've been lucky, that I've only had to house hunt twice. I was lucky enough to find the perfect house 20 years ago. We still love this house!
Here's hoping you both will find and get your perfect house! |

Ah hah! So it's really THEIR house, you'll just be living there. ;D
Best wishes Anais |

We have now seen two houses. I can sympathize with you, Valerie- good houses in affordable prices are really hard to find.
One of the houses we saw yesterday was a real treat: a big garden, house in excellent condition with "treats" like a beautiful fireplace and a wood cookstove. Downside: it's quite literally in middle of nowhere- 10 km to nearest grocery store (and post office where all my LL shipments are supposed to arrive ), and bus connections are scarce. And I'm without a driver's licence... But, it was so nice a house that we are considering it seriously neverthless. :) We'll see after we take a look on a couple other options. Yes, Anais, we have pets. Aquarium isn't too demanding except that it's difficult to move (I've done it before though). Rabbit, on the other hand, would prefer wooden floors and a nice garden, and we're hoping to hav those wherever we end up moving into. :) |

Good luck to both of you. :) House hunting can be very frustrating, or even dangerous--when I finally bought my house it came with it's own fuzzy stripey demon, now known as Bogie, the tabby terror. :D

Galadriel, that sounds wonderful! Let us know if you go for it.
Bikerbraid--20 years? I can't even imagine. This is the 3rd home we've bought together, and we've definetly gotten a little more choosy. The last 2 times we bought the first home we saw, and overall it worked out, but this time we want to know where everything is going before we move in. Not to mention how to set up the critters so that everyone gets along and has their own space. We won't be in this house for too long, just until hubby finishes this degree and moves on to the next school. But we plan on keeping it and renting it out. |

We finally got an 'accepted' offer, although I've seen nothing in writing yet. There ended up being 2 fairly small liens on the house, and its taken the bank 2 weeks to figure out numbers.
The most frustrating part is that their numbers are only good through 7/20, which means we have to close in 2 1/2 weeks! This is insane! If I didn't like the house so much, I'd probably walk away. But we kept looking at more houses the last few weeks, and haven't seen anything even close. I just hate having to work around their time schedule, when this is supposed to be about us! Sorry for the rant, I'm sure thats not the end of it, but I'll try to keep the griping to myself. I'm packing up my house as quickly as possible, and if anything falls through I'll be even more irritated. I keep telling myself, it all happens for a reason, exactly as it is supposed to be. I just hope I believe it soon... |

Great to hear that everything's going well for you.
We haven't been quite as lucky: it has now happened thrice that a house we have been interested in has been sold before we have had time to take a look at it (in DAYS after firt showing, that is). |
Title: Re: House hunting Post by Valerie on Jul 3rd, 2005 at 5:58pm
Galadriel--thats so depressing! We always did drive bys before talking to agents to see the inside, and we had a few houses that we would call the agent while sitting out front and find out they already had a contract. The good ones usually go fast it seems, but when its the right house it'll wait for you.

More happy house vibes coming your way. And to everyone else looking for a house too!

Thanks, both. We have done just two drive-bys. One of the houses is still free, but the other was sold while we were driving by it.
I agree with you- one of the signs of the Right One is that it will be there when we want it. ;D |
