Title: Waaaaa!
Post by bikerbraid on May 25th, 2005 at 11:23pm
::sniff sniff::  <honk>  ::wipes tears::

This has NOT been a good week for me.   :'(

I couldn't ride my bike today - storms, wind and rain.

I wore my hair in my usual figure 8 bun with my new LL hairsticks.  They were perfect with my outfit.  Apparently TOO  perfect.  I got in the elevator after lunch to return to work.  There were several young gals in the the elevator behind me.  They complimented me on my hair and the sticks.  One gal "touched" the sticks while complimenting the pretty gems.

When I got out of the elevator and walked into my office, a co-worker was behind me and asked, " Didn't you have TWO hairsticks in your hair today ?".  Yep, you guessed it - the gal took one of my sticks!!!

I went back to the floor where the girls got off and tried to find them, but no luck.  I've never seen them in the building before, so I'm guessing they were just visitors.   :-/

Can you believe someone actually would take a stick right out of their hair????

I am sooooo bummed.   >:(

I hope this NEVER happens to any of you.

OMG!  *jaw drops to the floor*
I'm so sorry, BB.  I can't imagine it.  I'd feel very violated.
I propose we take up a collection and send it to Rapunzel (along with your remaining hairstick) and she can give you back a pair.  I'm not sure how that would work out, but I'd be the first to contribute.

Hey, Rapunzel!  How can we set up a fund to help the owners of abducted sticks?

Total bummer.  I'm sitting here shaking my head.

I hope you find her, with the other stick so you can take it back and run her over with your bike.  *nods head firmly*

Ooooooo, bad karma for her.  Unbelievable.  I could cry, too it is so terrible. :'(

({HUGS})  I hope you feel better.   :-* for your cheek.

Thanks for the hugs.

No need for a collection for me - however if we want to start a fund for others, that's fine with me.  Rapunzel takes care of me for watching over the boards.  I just want to make sure the rest of you do not put yourselves at risk and have this happen to you.

As for running the perpetrator over with my bike - hmmmm - as long as I don't run the risk of getting another flat, I think that would work.   ;)

That's terrible! I can't believe people could do that. So nasty!  :'(

I have yet to get my first pair of LL hairsticks but when I do, you can guarantee I'll be securing them to my head with tiny padlocks after hearing your story, BB!  :o

Geez, some people. >:(  I can't believe the audacity of that person.  I'm really sorry that happened to you, bikerbraid.

Great, I just ordered my first hairstick today.  I think this story is just going to increase my OCDish checking behavior...

:o OMG, Bikerbraid! That's just straight from a hairstick wearer's nightmare!

I can't believe how anyone can do something like that- and get away with it like that >:( . I'm so sorry this happened to you. <<<<<<BB>>>>>>

*starts to think, how to hide comfortably some barbed wire into her buns*

*feels her paranoia about people touching her buns rising to new levels*

Awful, just awful I feel so bad for you BB.  :'( The unbelievable gall of someone to steal something right off of your body practically in front of you. That really doesn't do much for a person's faith in your fellow human beings.  :'( [glb](((((((BIG HUG)))))))[/glb]

WHAT - I find that more disgusting than out and out stealing money - it's so personal.  May they get a nasty yeast infection  >:( ...g

Thank you all for your sympathy.  I still can't believe someone would be so bold. ::shakes head::

I'm not going to let this stop me from wearing my beautiful LL sticks.  However, to try to prevent this from happening again, I have put a small rubber band (the kind you wear with your braces) on each stick.  This makes it a bit harder to put in, but it also makes it a bit harder to take out.  I think I will notice if someone tries to remove a stick with a rubber band on it.

I had hubby try to take one of the sticks out of my hair with the rubber band, and I felt it every time.  Let's hope I never have someone rip me off again.

There are people in the world who do not have good hearts.  I had money stolen from my purse at our community pool last summer-It was about $45.00 and this is a small town so I thought something like this wouldn't happen.  No more bringing my purse to the pool.
I'm sorry this happened to you BB. :(

How terrible! :( :-[ :'( I'm so sorry this happened to you, BB.  Sometimes it seems that you can't trust anyone.

The rubber band idea is a good one.  I use them on my sticks to keep them from slipping out of my hair, but I never thought that they'd be a security system.   :o

I'm meaner than Gabi--I hope your thief gets alopecia areata.   >:(

and the saga continues............

A person from an office on the floor where the girls from the elevator got off came up to my office today.  Seems they had several handbags ripped off yesterday afternoon.  Most likely by the same girls.  The police were called, and now I have fill out a police report!  It is a bit embarassing to admit they stole the stick out of my hair.  :-/  There is hope, the police think they know who they are and are "hot on their trail".

i still don't believe it and don't know what to say about that situation. it's the kind of things that reminds me how sticks can also serve as great weapons  :-X
i hope the police will find them back.

addendum to the continuing saga.......

just to give you all an update on the crappiest week.....

last night, hubby and I are preparing for our annual anniversary celebration camping trip that we have taken for 31 years.  We are busy packing the RV, racing around doing laundry, etc., so we can be ready to leave Friday afternoon.  At about 7pm we hear a sizzle and loud POP! from outside, and immediately the power goes out.  grrrrrrrr! The transformer for the neighborhood has blown.  No electricity - the washer stops, the dryer stops, it is DARK in the basesment where I am pulling out all our camping gear.  No power to the RV, so the refrig has to shift to LP - but...... you guessed it - no LP - we haven't filled the tank yet.  We planned on doing that on our way out of town!  I call the power company to report the outage.  The estimate it will be restored by 11:30pm.   :-/  Next, the cable TV truck shows up in front of our house.  (Note: we do not have cable.  The house has never been set up with cable).  Apparently the "strange" box on the utility pole in front of our house is some sort of transformer for the cable TV.  Since our power outage is localized but the cable covers a larger area, they sent a truck out with a diesel generator to power the cable box!  So we listened to and smelled the generator outside our bedroom window until 2am.  I have wet, icky laundry in the washer and dryer.  I have frozen food that is at risk of becoming unfrozen sooner that desired.  I have a stinky house.

Can this week get any worse??

Geeesh - flat tires, stolen hairsticks (from your hair!!!! :o :o :o), and power outages in the middle of frenzied packing.  Some weeks never seem to end. :-/

Despite, in spite, of all of this -- have a great camping trip and keep your sense of humor.  (laughter has kept me sane through such weeks ;))

oh my, spoken of a dark series!!! it's a strange coincidence, i just watched a thing on tv about a poor couple who still don't have electricity after 24 years since their stupid neighbour refuses elongation of the cables through her property since she herself was refused to build an extra house on a part of her property that was considered in danger of flooding. i still can't believe such people exist!  >:(
oh yeah, the poor people could get for something like three hours/day of very poor electricity through a diesel generator.

and i don't have cable either, we already pay far enough for "owning a tv" and being able to receive the silly french public tv channels ...  ::)

power outages are annoying, we get them all the time here, usually due to our summer storms.  the other year we had a heat wave (over 40C, which is 104F) and we lost power, it took days to get it back.  Elderly people were dying and people such as diabetics had to keep medicine cooled, but there was no power.  we only lost power for about half a day, as we were able to get power from a nearby generator that was running a hospital, so we could hear on the radio where people were giving their generators to the elderly and stuff who really needed them.

But normally our outages only last a few hours.  I find, especially at night, they encourage the famiy to sit round together and talk, since there's no tv or computers to drag members away.  (I try to see the positives of situations)
Just don't open your fridge or freezer and the food should be alright, and washing can always be done by hand if you still have water.  (Actually likes hand washing... am I a freak?)

and as for the hair stick *cries* I can't believe someone would actually do that :(

For crying out loud!!!
I just saw the thread! I am sooo sorry to hear about such a crappy week BB
[glb](((((((((((BB))))))))))))[/glb]
They say bad things come in three's so I guess at least you've exhausted your quota.  :-/ :-/Thank God for that!
I can't fathom the audacity of anyone coming right up and stealing things off someone's hair!!!! But if they are professional thieves then they are beyond that point. I hope they get caught so that you at least get a sence of "balancing things out".

I'm so sorry for all of this. I do hope that by now things are better and you are having a good time at your camping trip.
Try to keep thinking positive  :-* :-*

BB - did you have a better weekend then week?  I sure hope so!

Yes, my weekend was better.  Hubby and I went up to our new land.  We cleared trails, chopped and split wood.  Cooked several great meals over a fire, had several bottles of great wine.  The weather was much nicer than expected and we even got a good bike ride in.

It was a great "escape" weekend - I really needed this.   :D

Thank you all for your sympathy and encouragement.  I'm usually a pretty "up" person, but sometimes it all comes crashing down.  It is nice to know there is a sympathetic ear here.
