Title: Braiding experiment
Post by Galadriel on Apr 13th, 2005 at 6:29am
I had a little extra time and wanted to try something new...and came up with this promising style. The quality of this picture isn't the best possible, but I'm not expert in taking pictures of my own back.  ;D

Very cool!

Did you do the braided bun from the hair left after the french braiding, or did you extend the french braids into a braid and then bun it?

The little flowers make it look very professional.  ;D

I love the angle of the dutch braids.  I must work on that.  Your hair is so thick, that style looks great casual or dressy!

Thanks, both.  :)

Bikerbraid, both your guesses are wrong. My hair is still so short, that a regular braided bun is way too small to my taste.
When I braid on self, I like to be able to check that both Dutch parts look roughly similar, so I didn't braid them to ends.

Instead, I put both parts to pigtails that I combined when both Dutch parts were ready and I was satisfied with the result. Then I combined them to one ponytail, which I divided again to two parts that I braided to two regular braids and wrapped into a bun. This way, my bun is much larger than one thicker braid would have made it.  ;D

I undid this braid soon after the picture was taken a redid a bit tighter version before I left to university. This style lasted very well in windy weather and was also very comfortable. In other words, total success!  :D

I love spontaneous creations!  Your hair color is so beautiful.
I agree, this would make a gorgeous wedding style, esp. with several hair sticks and maybe baby's breath-a halo effect?
