Hi.  I suggest that you eat a good diet and use hair supplements (ie;biotin, msm, silica) to help the hair that is beginning to grow.  As for the rest of your hair, you may want to do deep conditioning treatments like oiling your hair when dry, leave on overnight (wear a shower cap or put a towel on your pillow) and wash out the next day.  Vinegar rinses make hair soft, shiny and remove buildup that can make the hair look dull.  You could also get some super conditioner-Sally's Beauty supply has packets so you can try different kinds pretty cheap-to apply, wash hair as usual, apply conditioner and put on a shower cap.  Take a towel, dampen it, stick it in the microwave for 45 seconds then wrap towel over shower cap and leave on for 5 minutes.  Repeat until you have had the hot towel on your head a total of 30 minutes then go rinse out the conditioner.  You can also leave the conditioner in overnight.
So, just a few suggestons.  Look around the boards here-there's tons more info.
Good Luck, and be patient.
Sakina

Sakina has already listed the typical steps to take when your hair is damaged and you are trying to help it recover.

I'd add that you need to be gentle with your hair so that you don't break or damage it any more.  Avoid brushes and use a wide toothed comb to detangle.  Use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners that are designed for chemically treated hair. And most importantly........ be patient.
