I did a beautiful dutch braid the other day, and decided to wear it to work.  It wasn't quite perfect, I had missed two strands at the front and it was a little loose near the nape of the neck... but four bobby pins fixed that.  I went to work, got a few compliments on it too, which was nice.  Only problem was, I rained bobby pins.  Well, they kept falling out. one plonked down really noisy in front of a customer.

Do any of you have that problem? I was looking at other clips to get, but all the ones we had looked ugly, or were ugly colours...

(On the plus side a girl asked me for help about her hair, and I was able to help her choose metal-less hair ties (she had been looking at thich ones where the metal holding them actually stuck out by 3mm, and it was sharp, it hurt my finger when I caught my finger on it!)

I have sometimes that problem with bobby pins. Applying aloe vera gel before you insert the bobby pins might help a little.

Hair clips are sometimes useful, but in my case they never manage to accommodate enough hair...so usually I end up just using bobby pins and correcting their position every now and then.  :-/

I've also used hair pins with success, and they don't slip out quite so easily because of the design.  Instead of opening them to slide them into the hair and then 'clamping' shut like a bobby pin, you pinch them together when putting them in your hair, then they open up.  They come in the same colors as bobby pins, so they usually aren't too noticeable.  I find myself using both types of pins in most hair styles depending on what I'm trying to do.
