Title: kengibson2001's hair journal
Post by kengibson2001 on Feb 12th, 2005 at 3:18pm
Ok I been on this forum since November, so I thought it would common courtesy to start a journal here.

I'm at 15 months growth of hair hair.

My hair is mostly straight with a little bit of wave in it.

I can fit all but my bangs in a ponytail.  I don't really know how long it is, but I estimate 8 to 9 inches.  Maybe more because my hair grows faster than normal.

My hair is thick, but fine( I'm not really sure if it is fine, but it is in between not coarse, and it is really soft).

MOst of the comments have been favorable by both sexes.

The only people I notice who like to bash me about my hair is dirty bald men( nothing against bald people, longhaired people can be dirty too) who forget how to shower.

My biggest compliment was yesterday when this girl came up to me and said she liked my hair so much she wants me to grow it longer.  I told her I wanted to grow it waist length and she gave a few tips, some I have heard before and some I haven't.

I'm either a 2b or 2a

people with neat hair colors should have long hair!!!  8)

Well I'm the stubborn type, so most well meant advice goes in one ear and out the other.  Same thing with math, science, or just about anything I tackle. Which is probally the reason I'm not very good at sports.

Mostly it was conditon your hair everyday, trim every 6 weeks bla bla bla bla etc.  One thing I said yesterday, was the next person that tells me to cut my hair I'm just going to blow up on them. This girl with cornrows said no grow it longer, I like it.

I'm at 15 months and haven't had a trim yet, but will be getting a trim in the next 2 to 3 months in the Denver area.

I'm getting it cut all one length and then letting it grow down.

Trying to deal with people who insist on telling you what to do can be difficult.  Instead of blowing up at them, you might try a snappy comeback.  My favorite:
Q: Why don't you cut your hair?
A:  Why don't you grow yours out?

I'm sure you could probably come up with a better one, that fits your personality better.  The idea is to let the person know they have made an unreasonable request.

Hope you job hunting is going well!

Yes blowing up on people is not very nice, it angers me people are that rude.  It doesn't hurt me, just makes me angry.

Anyway I have been Using Garniers SLeek and shine for 2 weeks now and have been using the Garnier brand for about 5 months.

I'm looking for a better brand, but I switched to V05 a month ago and I got dandruff galore, so I went back to the Garnier.

Can anyone recommend any good conditioners for slightly wavy hair that is just long enough to fit into a ponytail.

I have been thinking about Aussie or Salon Selectives, or any other department brand as I don't have a lot of money

I had a lot of luck with Aussie Mega shampoo and their 3 Minute Miracle conditioner.  I still like to return to it from time to time.

Well I was experimenting with mini braids today. Was very bored. I braided my wet bangs yesterday and when  I woke up I had waves in my hair.

Funny I can do small braids but normal braids seem lost on me.

Keep practicing with the mini braids.  Eventually your fingers will just know how to braid and you will be able to braid your hair!

I can never make em look right, it looks like a Lord of the RIngs braid bud a lot of strands are just flyaways.

When I do the big braids can't keep the three stands seperate from each other, that is my problem.

Practice, practice, practice.  You might try practicing with string or yarn.  A good practice would be to have about 60 strands of string, divided into 20 strands for each section of the braid.  This can help you to train your fingers to hold each section separate.

Don't give up!

WEll I had a milestone yesterday.

I was getting my hair wet, I was not washing it just getting it wet and I went to put my hair in a Ponytail and all of it went in.

Of course it doesn't work like that yet when it is dry but It is a big deal to me.

I haven't posted in a while, I  got a trim to cut off the wispy ends, but my hair is still long.
