Title: Winter Hair Poll Post by Galadriel on Feb 2nd, 2005 at 6:48am
Here comes my February's Poll ;D Fitting to season, I ask of winter and hair.
1. Does your hair growth slow during winter months? 2. Are there any other changes in your hairs' condition? 3. Do you need to change your hair care routines for winter? 4. Have you noticed difference in your hair color? 5. Do you use hair products that are specially designed for "winter hair"? If yes, what products? 6. Do you cover your hair when you go outside? If yes, what kind of covering do you prefer? 7. How do you like to style your hair when you're wearing sweaters, hats and other winter clothes? 8. Is your hair easier to keep healthy during winter or summer? Here are my answers: 1. Yes, so it seems. :-/ I tried to measure, but the results were so unclear that I decided to record "no growth" for January. 2. I think it is a bit more dry than before, but because of all the pampering I do, there's no real difference or problems. 3. Yes. I've noticed that I need to oil more, between the washes. I also pay special attention to moisturizing: try to mist, damp bun and deep condition. Freezing cold outside and dry, central heated air inside can't be good! 4. Yes. It's a bit darker, somehow fuller color. 5. No. I've survived this far well using my regular products. 6. Always. If it's not very cold, I use earmuffs and hood of my coat. If it is cold, I use a woolen scarf that I wrap around my head, and hood. Scarf causes static, but keeps my head very warm. 7. I use hoods and never wear my hair down so I don't need to change my hairstyle. Bun is always the perfect choice. :) 8. Summer. Then I don't need to cover my head so well, and I can go outside while my hair is still damp. |

1. Does your hair growth slow during winter months? YES!
2. Are there any other changes in your hairs' condition? A bit dryer, more prone to static. 3. Do you need to change your hair care routines for winter? I wash less frequently. 4. Have you noticed difference in your hair color? My hair gets much darker in the winter. 5. Do you use hair products that are specially designed for "winter hair"? If yes, what products? No, my usual products work fine. 6. Do you cover your hair when you go outside? If yes, what kind of covering do you prefer? Yes, I have a flannel/polar fleece hood/scarf that I made that works well over buns with hairsticks. 7. How do you like to style your hair when you're wearing sweaters, hats and other winter clothes? My hair is up when I wear turtlenecks, wool sweaters, or polarfleece (anything that hair catches on). If down when wearing a jacket, I prefer it to be braided so that it is more protected from the jacket and friction. 8. Is your hair easier to keep healthy during winter or summer? SUMMER! Winter jackets, and clothing are really tough on hair. |

I love your polls, G.
1. Does your hair growth slow during winter months? I've heard that it does usually, not really sure if mine has. Of course growing out layers makes it seem like it's slow growing. 2. Are there any other changes in your hairs' condition? Seems dryer. 3. Do you need to change your hair care routines for winter? I just began CWC in January 4. Have you noticed difference in your hair color? My roots are a bit darker. 5. Do you use hair products that are specially designed for "winter hair"? If yes, what products? Nope. 6. Do you cover your hair when you go outside? If yes, what kind of covering do you prefer? I live in the desert, so unless I'm having a bad/lazy hair day-no. 7. How do you like to style your hair when you're wearing sweaters, hats and other winter clothes? If I do wear a hat, I pull up the front into a half pony or full pony with a baseball cap. I recently tried a beanie with dual braids, but my stupid layers poked out. It will be totally cute as soon as those layers are gone!! 8. Is your hair easier to keep healthy during winter or summer? I've really just started keeping track, but I guess I'd say summer. My hair airdrys faster then so I think that makes it easier for me. My two cents: to decrease problems with static, drink more water. Lots more water. A humidifier in the house can also help. I prefer a warm air one to a cold one. |

1. Does your hair growth slow during winter months? Just starting to measure, so I don't know yet
2. Are there any other changes in your hairs' condition? more static and flyaways 3. Do you need to change your hair care routines for winter? I haven't really noticed, except I think I'm washing less 4. Have you noticed difference in your hair color? right now I seem to be seeing more gray ::) so I haven't noticed if the rest is darker ;) 5. Do you use hair products that are specially designed for "winter hair"? If yes, what products? no 6. Do you cover your hair when you go outside? If yes, what kind of covering do you prefer? I have a hood I throw over my head. I love hats, but trying to put my hair up means my hats don't work too well unless I want to re-do my up-do when I get to work :-/ 7. How do you like to style your hair when you're wearing sweaters, hats and other winter clothes? Have not changed it yet, but my hair isn't long enough to worry much about it yet 8. Is your hair easier to keep healthy during winter or summer? check with me next year, after I've been paying more attention to it :-X |

1. Does your hair growth slow during winter months? I've never measured, so I can't say I know for sure.
2. Are there any other changes in your hairs' condition? It's drier, more static cling. 3. Do you need to change your hair care routines for winter? I need to use deep-conditioning treatments more often. 4. Have you noticed difference in your hair color? Yes. The hair underneath (around the nape of my neck) is usually darker because it gets less sun exposure, but it gets really dark in winter months. 5. Do you use hair products that are specially designed for "winter hair"? If yes, what products? No, I can't recall ever seeing "winter hair" products. Though I have seen "holiday scented" shampoos. But, I'm not too fond of berry/cinamon concoctions, so I've never tried them. 6. Do you cover your hair when you go outside? If yes, what kind of covering do you prefer? It depends. If my hair is in a really fragile updo, then I'll forgo a covering, but most of the time I wrap a silk scarf (a la Audrey Hepburn) around my head and 'do. I'm slowing emassing a nice collection of silk scarves this way. 7. How do you like to style your hair when you're wearing sweaters, hats and other winter clothes? Most of the time I keep my hair up, just to keep it out of the way of wooly sweaters and friction. But I can't resist wearing my hair down when angora is involved... *grins* 8. Is your hair easier to keep healthy during winter or summer? Actually, it's winter for me. In the summer, I'm constantly worried about too much sun exposure; hair and my fair skin cause a double-edged sword when event planning. At least in winter I'm just trying to keep it from getting too dry, and the summer, well, it's a constant worry that between the UV rays and pool chemicals it might get fried. |

1. Does your hair growth slow during winter months? I haven't been measuring, but it definately seems to be getting longer still. (compared to the waistband of my jeans) 2. Are there any other changes in your hairs' condition? I haven't really noticed... 3. Do you need to change your hair care routines for winter? I don't have much of a routine; just wash every 3-5 days and air dry. It takes longer to dry... 4. Have you noticed difference in your hair color? Well, it's a bit darker, because my natural sun-streaks are growing out. 5. Do you use hair products that are specially designed for "winter hair"? If yes, what products? No. 6. Do you cover your hair when you go outside? If yes, what kind of covering do you prefer? No--here in South Carolina, the average winter high temperature during the day is about 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit, so not much to worry about. ;) 7. How do you like to style your hair when you're wearing sweaters, hats and other winter clothes? See above--winter clothes aren't all that different for me. 8. Is your hair easier to keep healthy during winter or summer? Winter, because I'm not swimming and such, or sweating every time I go outside. |
