the way i do a 4 strand rope is:
* make a pony tail and put a holder * dividing hair in four equal strands (here starts the difficulty with layered hair ahum) * doing twice a two stranded twist (and you follow the same directions of twisting for both!) * twist those two together in opposite direction so: if you twist your strands clockwise (CW) on theirselves, then you twist them two - by - two together CCW and then you twist the 2-stranded twists together CW again. for some reason i had a very regular and neat rope the first time i tried, but it ended up messy the second time (which is not a problem if you wear it up). i think you have to twist your strands at the same side of your head to get a decent looking rope (i was doing one 2 stranded twist at one side and the other at the other side, it could explain). and then you just do a figure a bun (i suppose a regular bun is neat too). i can only anchor the thing by putting two sticks horizontally through each loop, i barely feel it's there. ;D |

precious locks - the Crissy doll - I had one, too! I always had dreams (as a child) of having the ability to pull my hair to any desired length because of her! ha ha
styg - thanks so much for the instructions - I'll have to try that for work tonight! nightowl |

anais, putting two sticks horizontally spread the weight and i hardly felt it was there. i still can't secure figure 8buns by putting them more vertically, just doesn't hold on me.
