Title: natural solutions against dandruff Post by styg on Dec 4th, 2004 at 3:42pm
although my (oily) dandruff seems far better since i started COing, i was wondering if anyone tried baking soda? rosemary is supposed to help as well. i was thinking about adding a drop of it to the conditioner i put on my scalp, but i am afraid it will smell a lot.

I sometimes mix a drop of rosemary essential oil with conditioner for my scalp, and while the scent is surprisingly powerful at first, once it's been mixed in and then rinsed out it smells just fine. You really only need one or two drops though, since the smell is so strong.
I've read that apple cider vinegar is supposed to be helpful with dandruff as well... |

I find apple cider vinegar very helpful with dandruff/psiorasis on my scalp. I stopped shampooing daily with neutrogena t-gel, to follow Curly Girl no-poo routine. When I do get an outbreak of itchies, i shampoo with mild organic shampoo (jason sea kelp) then rinse with 1:1 apple cider vinegar. Leave that in while I shower, then condition. I also made a spritz of half vinegar, half water, 5 drops tea tree oil, 5 drops lavender and spray on scalp before bed. Vinegar smell goes away after it dries. I use apple cider vinegar in between shampoos (twice a week). It has got me off of t-gel completely.

luckily you stopped using that t-gel, that's pure poison in a bottle.

I've been meaning to try rosemary oil. Evidently it's known to help with hair growth but that may just be one of those folklore things.
