Title: Tried "rag rollers" - ref roller set res Post by DSW on Dec 2nd, 2004 at 1:16am
Well I finally tried the "rag rollers" some of you suggested. I bought these at Wall-mart. They are a sponge type of roller with a wire tail on each end. They are very easy to use. I put conditioner on each section before rolling. I did this before going to bed and slept with then in all night. Felt kinda strange but sorta nice ???? Anyway the next day the results were pretty good.
(Now no laughing) I have included pictures below: Rollers: http://www.photodump.com/direct/dstet/P4260004.jpg Results loose: Pony tail: Anyway I just thought I'd show the results for what it's worth. Waves were sorta nice but did not last very long. DSW |

D*i*c*k, (love that filter)
Your hair takes a set really nice. I could never sleep on rollers of any sort. Oh, well. |

WOW, they gave you a nice wave. :) It's just too bad that they aren't long lasting, my hair is straight as a string and it never holds a curl or a wave. :-/

The waves look great! Did someone help you put your hair into the rollers? The sections are so nice and neat and even. I don't think I could ever (even when my hair was short) section my hair that nicely.
They probably would have lasted longer if you had misted your hair with water when rolling it up. The damp hair drying in the rollers would have set the hair longer. Thanks for sharing! |

Bikerbraid is right.. the hair is is evenly set in the rollers.. perfect little rows.. I couldn't do that if my life depended on it!
Still, I like the results... sorry they didn't last long, but if you dampen your hair a bit before rolling it should hold the wave/curl better. And for some reason, my hair holds waves/curls better if it's rolled after being freshly washed. Just a thought! *grins* The pics are great, by the way. |

I wouldn't mist your hair till after it was rolled. If you mist it while its still down, then some of it is going to end up on the inside of the roll, and it won't dry b/c the water can't evaporate. Whereas if you wait until it's rolled, the only part that gets wet is the part on the top that can and will dry overnight. |

My hair will still dry if misted when I roll or braid it. I just make sure it isn't too wet when I mist it. The length of hair being rolled also makes a difference. The longer the hair, the longer it would take to dry.

I wish my hair would dry when I braid it. Whenever I braid my hair and it's the slightest bit damp, it just comes out of the braid still damp, and not-nice-looking, and the waviness falls immediately. I'm convinced that if I braided it just after washing, it would stay wet for a very, very long time. I'd be afraid of mildew or something!

After I wash my hair I let it completely dry. When I braid it I mist about one third from the bottom of it with a light spray, if I didn't do that it wouldn't have any kink to it at all when I take the braids out. I leave it braided till the next day and it has always been dry unless by accident I was to really saturate it.

ITA with everyone who said it turned out nice. Now I am inspired to try this...when I get enough hair! :)

I like those rag rollers the best of all the "conventional"
rollers. But I could never set it that nice and neat. |
