Title: Dragnet! Do You Know This 'Cone? Post by strawberryfine on Nov 24th, 2004 at 9:32pm
I need help from you smart gals and guys.
Does anyone have any info on this cone? Water, Cetearyl Alcohol (Botanical Origin), Trimethylsilyl Amodimethicone, Distearyldimonium Chloride (Botanical Origin), Stearyl Alcohol (Botanical Origin), Mallow Extract (Botanical Origin), Hydroylzed Keratin, Quaternium-26, Phenoxyethanol (Preservatives), Parabens (Ethyl, Butyl, Methyl, Propyl) (Preservatives), Diazolidinyl Urea (Preservatives), Fragrance, Citric Acid I put the whole ingredient list of a conditioner I've been looking at because I know it can make a difference what else is in the product with the 'cone. TIA so much!!! strawberryfine ??? And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Have a safe holiday! |

Boy, you make us work hard!
I found two sources that discussed this ingredient. Not being a chemist, I am somewhat limited in my interpretation, but what I found was that this is primarily used in conditioners to improve the "slip" on the hair both when it is wet and dry. It does deposit a coating on the hair, but it is water soluable. It is intended to improve your ability to comb your hair when it is wet and dry. The one article actually compared bleached blonde hair to natural Asian hair. There was a more marked improvement on the bleached blonde hair (duh!). If you are suffering from insomnia, feel free to read these reports yourself. If you interpret them differently from me, please fill us in! Thanks Bikerbraid!
I didn't mean for you to work so hard; you really are dedicated! And thanks for the links. I'm going to read them right now. Since that 'cone is water soluable, I'm thinking I might try it, but I'm such a chicken! Thank you again, so much! ;D |

Wow :o :o :o, Bikerbraid!
I just read both the articles from your links listed above and they were incredible. I especially liked the one from Dow Corning. I got the same take on it that you had; it sure sounds water soluable to me. Boy, chemistry can sure get technical, can't it? It was kind of hard reading but very, very good. Thank you for finding this info for me! strawberryfine :) |

Bikerbraid,
I had to stop by this thread again and say "thanks" for the info and links you gave me. I've analyzed it to death, I think I'm going to try the conditioner with Trimethylsilyl Amodimethicone, Phytobaume. How often would you ACV rinse if you were using a cone containing product like this? Thanks once again, |

you'll notice that yourself ... does your hair feel soft or is it strawlike and tangles like hell ... i have a problem with some conditioners with cones who make my hair feel great while i am rinsing them out but the very next day my hair is awful, i think cuze it's not very compatible with oiling.
i'd do a ACV rinse everytime. i even think about using a tiny bit of ACV everytime as well, cuze since i never really wash my length it gets tangly very quickly. |

SF;
As I mentioned on the other thread, I'd start out with an ACV rinse every third use of the product. You may need to do the ACV rinse more often, you will just need to see how your hair reacts. |
