Title: Hair Recipes Post by Rua on Nov 18th, 2004 at 5:02pm
Well, I decided to try out a hair recipe I found online yesterday, as well as a vinegar rinse afterwards - and my hair is in FAB condition.
Here's the recipe... "Russian Hair Treatment" 2 Eggs, beaten 1Tbsp oil (whichever you want. I used a combo of sweet almond, coconut, and olive) A few drops of favourite essential oil (I used ylang ylang) Mix the oils together and warm up in the microwave. Then mix in with the eggs. Before applying, moisten the hair very slightly by running wet fingers through it, then massage the egg mixture into hair and scalp. When the egg mix is used up, I take a bit more oil and rubbed it into my hair. Then, wrap yer head in plastic cling film and cover with a hot towel. Sit back and relax for the next couple hours. What I did next was wash my hair as normal only I did a quick vinegar rinse before conditioning. My hair is all nice and shiny now! Anybody got any other interesting recipes they've tried and wanna share with me?? I'm mad into puttin food on my head at the moment! ;) :D |

Sounds lovely.
Sorry I have nothing to share :-[ I can't seem to get to the grocery store for food to eat, let alone to put on my hair. [Heading out on Friday for trip number 2 of 5 before the end of the year] |

eggs :o
did you have any trouble washing it out? cuze i heard some bad stories about eggs! (and bananas) i've always wanted to try the egg thingie, just never dared |

Nope, no trouble washing it out. I think the oil helps to keep it slick and the eggs from stickin to your hair too much, as well as the fact that you cover your head with plastic.
And 2 hours is well enough time for a bit of deep conditioning of this type, methinks. I will defo use this recipe again. Probably a once a month sort of thing cuz I'm too lazy to do any more than that! :P |

Ooh I like the sound of that treatment. May I steal your recipe and try it one of these days? ;D
Here's one of mine: - 2 tbsp (preferably deep) conditioner - 1 tbsp honey - 1 tsp shea butter - 1 tsp oil (I like olive for this, and be sure you don't put too much) - few drops EO (optional) This is *very* heavy duty, so only use it when your hair is really lacking moisture. Otherwise it might make your hair greasy. ;) |

Oh brilliant! I would love to try out this recipe, Leia! And of course you can "steal" mine. Actually, it's not even mine...I stole it off the internet and adapted it to suit me. ;)
Thanks for sharing!! ;D |

I've made a concoction of avacados (one, pited and peeled) a banana (peeled and sliced). You just mash them together to form a paste and add just a tiny touch of oil to help things bind. It's moisturizing and smells great!

WOW, you have more willpower than me. I'd be EATING the avocado! ;D ;D

Rua, I've got your hair treatment on my head right now! I forgot to add EO. I guess I'll be smelling of egg for a week! EWW! LOL ;)

*giggles* I actually don't like the taste of avacados :o (Oh, the horror!) :o But I love bananas so much... it's impossible to keep them in my house! *laughs*

Ah cool! ;D (Well not the egg smell part, but I'm sure it won't be too bad!) I hope that the treatment works for you! ;D

EEK! It turned out disastrous! I have no idea why. Maybe there were too many eggs as compared to the oil? I had to do a deep conditioning to make up for the dry tangles that I got after this treatment!

Oh no thats terrible!! :o I'm sorry it didn't work for you. That's really strange cuz it did wonders for my hair. :-/
Then again, my hair isn't nearly as long as yours so maybe that's why it didn't work. Maybe the ratios weren't right for your length? |

I've heard that the oil is what makes sure the egg comes off the hair OK. Maybe try clarifying with vinegar to see if that helps.

I did an emergency deep conditioning, which helped tremendously. I have no idea why my hair acted up like that all of a sudden. It usually loves eggs and oil! ;)
