I have never had much success with vinegar rinses-a pity really since it's natural and inexpensive.
So,I decided to give it another try:
I did some vinegar rinses with Apple Cider Vinegar (about 1-2 spoons on one litre of water) and applied it before/and (in another experiment )after conditioning.
And I have to say it still doesn`t work for me-the result is dry/crunchy hair :P

*BUT* : I found some Rice Vinegar (very mild) sitting on my shelf and could't resist one final try!Result:Smooth,shiny,tangle-free hair ;D ;D
I have used the Rice Vinegar Rinse 3 times so far (before applying the conditioner)and still like it,it is definitely an option :)

Glad you found something that works!

I've found the whole hair care process to be a lot of trial and error. What works for some does not work for others. Different hair types needs different types of care.

FYI, initially, the vinegar rinse did not work for me because I was afraid to use too much vinegar. When I quit measuring and just poured the vinegar into a container that I then added water with, it worked much better for me. I estimate that I use about a cup of vinegar with 2 liters of water for my hip length hair.

Ya'll dilute the vinegar? After my "junkie?" post I started using pure vinegar every two weeks and found I can still use my Herbal Ess., YAY!

Chemically, hair is more acidic than vinegar... and an undiluted rinse technically shouldn't hurt your hair. I bet your scalp especially loves you for it. ...Guess I'm more surprised than I should be, Drummergirl!

Anne-Marie, glad to hear you found an alternative : ) I have some rice vinegar at home, and I bought it for yet another sushi experiment that turned out yet another total fiasco. It's wonderful to know rice vinegar has another use.

So true ;D I also didn't like it much for cooking,for that purpose I prefer stronger vinegars!

bikerbraid, I think I use about the same vinegar to water ratio, but I've never used as much as 2 litres. I guess I've been afraid of using too much as well. But hey, something new to try tonight. :)

Apple cider vinegar is my personal favorite. I haven't tried rice vinegar before...
