Title: Sunburn! Post by Kate on Jun 11th, 2004 at 1:44pm
Hiya,
A couple of weeks ago I had my yearly spring sunburn ritual, because I always expect my May skin to have an August sun-tolerance. Ouch. I didn't think I burned my scalp, not much in any case. But I must have because lately I've noticed small flakes of my tortured skin peeling off. I don't have dandruff, I just have peely sunburned scalp! What can I do to minimize/hasten this peeling process? /Kate |

Aloe vera gel works great when I burn my part. This will soothe the burn and help it heal. It does not harm your hair either - a real bonus.
You can also try some jojoba oil on the burned area if you don't mind being a bit oily ;D |

It might work if the burn has actually healed but I would be hesitant to use oil on a fresh burn. Oil traps heat and any kind of oil (remember the "put butter on a burn" old wives' tale?) on a burn is a really bad idea.

Thanks for the replies :-)
Any burn that I got has healed by now, so I'll try some oil on it tonight. I don't brush or wash my hair very often so any peeling skin has been undisturbed for a long time now. Time to start wearing a hat again! /Kate |
