Title: Happy Mother's Day!
Post by bikerbraid on May 9th, 2004 at 4:04pm
Here in the US, the greeting card companies long ago brainwashed the public into making the 2nd Sunday of May a holiday to honor our mothers.  (I'm not opposed to honoring our mothers - they more than deserve it, I just object to creating holidays for the sake of making money).

For all of you Mom's out there - a big hug for all you do!

Thanks bikerbraid ;D ;D
Here in Germany Mother's Day is very popular ;) ,but of course there are commercial interests, just like you said.If everyone 's buying flowers/Chocolate/Perfume for their mothers there's a nice little profit for the industries :-/
I always tell my kids not to buy me anything for Mothers Day/Birthday -I prefer something they made themselves. So today they made me a nice breakfast (well,at six a.m.  :P ),picked some flowers from the garden and wrote a small poem for me-very cute :)

Anne-Marie:  How sweet of your kids to make you breakfast and write you a poem.  Can I ask, how many children you have and their ages?

flaming_bunny:  is is strange that different dates are used, but considering it was originally designed for retail, I guess any date would work!

My son and his soon-to-be wife invited me and my husband for dinner.  It was the first dinner we've had in their new house.  The wedding is just 2 weeks away so I'm in that phase where I'm "not needed as a mother" any more  ::)  (Unless they need money!  :-X)

Hope it was a grand day for all mommies.

I have one daughter,Selina, who is 8 yrs.old, and a son, Nils-he's 6. They are both very loving & easygoing kids, but I think every mother will say that as long as the kids have not yet
reached puberty  ;D :P (I've got a picture of them in my Yahoo-Album)
All the Best for your son's wedding,I hope all of you will have a wonderful day :D

Yes, puberty may change your opinions of your kids..... but maybe not!  ;D Let's hope your kids don't drive you insane, and they grow up to be kind and loving adults, following in their mother's footsteps.
