Title: silica Post by Aphrodite on Apr 13th, 2004 at 12:07pm
I've just started taken biotin tablets to try and stop my hair falling out so much, I also wanted to try silica but when I read the back of the bottle it said you must ask your gp before taking it as it also helps to purify blood! What do you guys think to silica and is this just to cover themselves or what?
confused now ??? |

I've not heard of any contraindications for silica and a quick search on the web did not bring up any either.
I've been taking silica for about a year and have not noticed any problems - just less shedding. :D I would think that as long as you are in good health and you take only the recommended dosage, there should not be any problems. If you are not sure, a quick check with your doctor should confirm whether or not it is safe for you to take. |

Silica is in foods you eat. It's processed and refined and put into all kinds of things. It's in table salt even so I don't see how it can be terrible harmful. IN fact, I'm racking my brain from O Chem and i can't think of any reason it would have a negative effect on someone unless of course they ate so much that they might as well be eating sand.
