Hi there!
The month of Ramadan is a when people fast from before the sun rises to the time that the sun sets. It is a Muslim fast and truly tests will power, as you are not allowed to eat or drink anything all day. |

I thought that water and tea were allowed during the fast. Or is that just the "western" adaptation?

I knew what Ramadan is but hoped you could tell me something new ;)
Bikerbraid, this is maybe the western adaption. In Ramadan you are not allowed to eat, drink, smoke or doing something else that could break it between dawn to dusk. Children, old, sick, pregnant, breastfeeding and travelling people have not to fast. |

It must be western adaptation. In addition to all that E mentioned, you are also not allowed to lose your temper during this time. It is a true test of will power :). |

I understand that sex is not allowed during daylight hours either. I guess that would be consistent with self-denial during Ramadan.

Bikerbraid, you are probably right, though I have never heard of this. I myself am not Muslim, but living here I have seen and learned the traditions of Ramadan (called Ramzan here).

Hi everyone!
I just thought I'd post here to let you know... tomorrow was supposed to be the first day of Ramzan, but the moon was not visible so it is going to officially start on Tuesday. |
