I don't think it will be too bad... probably just lots of wind and rain. I can take wind and rain. The great thing about living in Delaware is that it's such a "non weather" state. No twisters, earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards to speak of under normal circumstances. We do get violent thunderstorms and the occasional nor' easter and snowstorm but that's about it. I just don't wanna lose my electricity. Can't run lighting or power tools to make hairsticks without electricity, LOL!

Oooooops- hope your roof won´t fly away :o I love stormy weather but we never have really bad storms so I *can* like it.

I love stormy weather too. I just don't like *dangerous* stormy weather. Nuts about thunder storms though.

I love thunderstorms too! We get them here a lot during the monsoon season, which is just about ending. Nothing dangerous, though... once in a while we will get hail but I don't remember that happening for at least 7 years now! It isn't cold enough for ice over here!
The thing is... those with no money and no houses, or very poorly built houses are badly affected by the monsoon. But things are getting much better around here, and monsoon season comes as a blessing to most because it helps farmers with their crops :). The world around me in continually improving and I'm so glad that I'm lucky enough to live in a world where nothing is perfect and I am able to see that first hand and be grateful for what I have. |

I'd love to hear more about Bangladesh and what it's like to live there Leia... if you'd like to start a thread in "Letting Your Hair Down" to tell us all about it, feel free!

Well, we weathered Isabel OK, just lost a few branches off the willows. The house behind us lost BIG branches, and they just missed their house and hit their porch. Delaware is still in a state of emergency and I haven't checked to see what damage has happened elsewhere yet.
:::whew::: |

I'm glad everything is alright around you, Rapunzel.
Sure, I'd love to write more about Bangladesh to let you know what it's like... is there something specific you want to know, or just life in general? |

Well, we weren't as lucky as we thought. Our willow directly behind our bedroom window split in half. We were very lucky it landed in the yard and not on the roof.
I'd like to hear everything about Bangladesh Leia, but let's start with fashion and culture... I'd love to hear about traditions! |

Rapunzel,
So glad to hear that all is well, though sorry about your tree. |

Rapunzel;
I'm sorry to hear about the tree, but glad there was no damage to the house (and Kimono's are safe - whew! But my offer to "store" them still holds ;D). I know of others that were in the path of the hurricane that were not so fortunate (still without power). Leia; Please do tell of the traditions of your country, it seems all we ever hear in the US is about the poverty. |

Well, there is definitely a lot of poverty. But that's definitely not all there is to this place... foreigners coming here hate it, but I can see how we've progressed over the years. When my mother came here 20 years ago, half of the city was forest ;)! There were hardly any restaurants, no places to go out, nothing to do! The teens coming here now complain of nothing to do, but there are many very good malls, bowling alleys, clubs, excellent restaurants... there's LOTS to do here!

Where is your mom from Leia? Was it a big culture shock for her to move to Bangladesh? Is your dad originally from Bangladesh?

What is the primary "industry" in your area? Are there any larger businesses, factories? Who/what are the primary places of employment?

I've posted replies to these questions in the Bangladesh thread... :)
