Title: How many hairsticks... Post by E. on Mar 9th, 2003 at 8:30pm
...do you use generally? I most of the time use only one to hold my bun although I owned only pairs until last week...
But when I try to do a more funny look I use a pair crossed and a matching single stick in the middle. |

I myself use usually one or two. Some of my more complicated updos won't hold with just one, so the only time I use one is for a casual style. I have to wait until August until I can buy a LongLocks hairstick and I'm dying to get one! All of mine are so ugly!!

I can hold a basic bun with a single hairstick or fork. A more complicated bun might require 2 sticks. I frequently use one to hold the bun and add one or two other decorative sticks for fun.

Oh, I know how you feel! I have bought some pairs of Susanīs creations, at last two custom sticks which are just gorgeous, and I canīt wait to get them! I have *never* money because most of it flows to my studies but that simply was a must-have ;) |

I'm going to convince my parents to buy it for me as a birthday present!

In the meantime, why not look for some inexpensive hairsticks. I have found that chopsticks can be a pretty and inexpensive alternative.

I usually use a pair to hold my braided bun in place but one will actually hold it.
Becareful.....once you own yur first pair of Rapunzel's creations they become an addiction. I bought my first pair of her sticks as an "trial" pair...I own about 14 pairs of her sticks now. They are more beautiful in person that they are on the web site. ginny |

Funny how quality products create an addiction. ;D

I do have a few pairs of hairsticks, the only ones I could find, and they are definitely not as pretty as the ones on this site! I am going to look for some more soon, but I just can't seem to find nice ones anywhere.

ok, I admit, I do not own any LongLocks sticks yet. I do admire them and notice that everyone raves about them. I am trying to work out how I will wear my hair for my son's wedding and think that a LongLocks pair will do quite nicely.

Is it easy to find nice hairsticks in your area?

I don't find many nice hairsticks in the store around here (just cheap plastic). I can find some beautiful chopsticks that I like to use for hairsticks. I find lots of beautiful hairsticks on ebay and the internet.

Apart from the hairstyles on this site, do you have any other interesting ways to wear your sticks?

Right now my two favorite styles for hairsticks with my waist length hair are:
A high ponytail, tied in a knot with one or two hair sticks through the knot to hold it. Make a bun starting as usual, twisting the hair until it twists on itself and makes 1 round of the bun, then fold that loop over, continue to make another round with the remaining length of hair. Put one or two hairsticks through both sets of loops to hold in place. This makes a figure 8 of sorts. Sometimes I make the 8 in a vertical position, other times I make it more horizontal. |

:-/ Sounds confusing! I will have to experiment and also try and make up my own styles. I find this very difficult though! :-[ The styles I usually do every day are pretty much simple ones; the topknot, a bun, a french twist, a pony tail, or half pulled back and put in a little clip.

Leia,
I also have not had the joy of owning a beautiful LongLocks Hairstick yet. :'( I have been using some I made from Sculpey clay, bamboo skewers and decorative rocks like amethest, quartz, and hematite. This takes a little bit of time, so if I want a new stick, quick, I just paint a wooden chopstick (the one's you get for free when ordering Chinese take out) with nail polish. This helps the wood from splintering, in addition to dressing it up. I have also added some fine holographic glitter and covered it with clear polish to add some sparkle. These certainly do not come close to the beautiful designs Rapunzel creates, but it works in a pinch. I look forward to purchasing my first pair very soon!!! |

WOW, Kasiss you are so creative! I have been able to buy a couple of hairsticks from some shops, though they aren't as beautiful as the ones on this site of course. I'll have to try your method and start painting chopsticks!!
I've looked at all the hairsticks for sale, and I was thinking, there's only one pair/stick I'm allowed to buy. I just don't know which one to choose!!! Maybe if I can get my mother into liking them, she'll buy some more :P |
