What do all of you do to control frizz? This is not a problem for me usually but sometimes bugs me in the summer.

I use a little jojoba oil to smooth down frizzies.  A friend of mine who has much curlier hair, uses aloe vera gel to tame her frizzies

Hmm it seems jojoba oil has a lot of uses!! I also heard that olive oil is good for your hair, does anyone have any thoughts on that?

I found olive oil actually made my hair drier/crispier on the ends.  There are many, however that find it to be a good moisturizer for the hair.  You just have to see what it does for your own hair.

Oh ok, I understand what you mean, different things work for different hair types.

When I get frizz sometimes in the summer, I put the slightest bit of frizzease on the top of my hair on the sides which keeps it from coming out. Usually, if you have straight hair, your hair grows downwards and you have a few natural wispy bangs at the front. But curly heads have hair that grows outwards and that's when I get frizz; when that hair is getting long and pops out. But now that my hair is longer and therefore much less curly, I find hardly any need for frizz control.

I read in an interview with George Michael the stylist that if you want long hair, it should all be one length, meaning no layers and no bangs. I have chin-length bangs and I quite like them, so it's not absolutely *necessary* to grow them out, is it? Because with my hair tied back my face looks quite empty without the bangs there.

My belief is you can do whatever you want with your hair.  I personnally don't have bangs and would not want them with my long hair, but when my hair is short I always have bangs.  I have also read that the GM method would be to have all one length and he claims it improves the overall hair.  I'm not sure I would buy into that philosophy myself.  How you feel about yourself and your hair is the most import.

Do you have layers?

No, my hair is one length, to my waist.  I grew the bangs out when my hair was not quite shoulder length (kept it at that length until the bangs caught up).

I think I will keep my layers until my shortest hair is at my hips, and then cut it all up to that length. I'm curious to see my terminal length but too impatient to grow it that long!

I put olive oil just at the roots and massaged it in, and left it in all night. It hasn't made it dry, but I put it in because I heard warm oil stimulates hair growth.

To keep curly hair in soft curls you want to start by washing and conditioning your hair with a deeply Moisturizing shampoo, try Nexus Hummectrus shampoo, and Therrape Conditioner. Then when you get out of the shower towel dry your hair and apply a curling spray or mouse(gel weighs down curls). Blow dry your hair with a diffuser with the dryer on a low setting and softly scrunch your hair, do not scrunch vigorously or you will cause frizz. After your hair is mostly dry, finish with a flexible hold hairspray. Also a deep moisturizing conditioning treatment once a week will keep your hair mositurized and less frizzy.

To keep mine from frizzing, I've found that pulling it back very loosely when it's about 30% dry helps my hair.  By pulling it back very loosely I mean puting a scrunchie on it just once, not doubling it or anything.  I also try to keep out of the wind while it is drying.  If it does frizz I put a little oil on it.  If I am going  somewhere fancy and I want to be absolutely sure it won't frizz, I comb some gel through it while it is wet.  I don't do this much, though, because it tends to make my hair feel funny.
